Job 38
1 And after Elius had ceased from speaking, the Lord spoke to Job through the whirlwind and clouds, [saying],
૧પછી યહોવાહે વંટોળિયામાંથી અયૂબને જવાબ આપતાં કહ્યું કે,
2 Who is this that hides counsel from me, and confines words in [his] heart, and thinks to conceal [them] from me?
૨“અજ્ઞાની શબ્દોથી ઈશ્વરની યોજનાને પડકારનાર આ માણસ કોણ છે?
3 Gird thy loins like a man; and I will ask thee, and do thou answer me.
૩બળવાનની માફક તારી કમર બાંધ; કારણ કે હું તને પ્રશ્ન પૂછીશ, અને તારે મને જવાબ આપવાનો છે.
4 Where wast thou when I founded the earth? tell me now, if thou hast knowledge,
૪જ્યારે મેં પૃથ્વીના પાયા નાખ્યા ત્યારે તું ક્યાં હતો? તું બહુ સમજે છે તો આ મને જણાવ.
5 who set the measures of it, if thou knowest? or who stretched a line upon it?
૫પૃથ્વીને ઘડવા માટે તેની લંબાઈ કોણે નક્કી કરી? જો તું જાણતો હોય તો કહે. અને તેને માપપટ્ટીથી કોણે માપી હતી?
6 On what are its rings fastened? and who is he that laid the corner-stone upon it?
૬શાના પર તેના પાયા સજ્જડ કરવામાં આવ્યા છે? તે જગ્યામાં મુખ્ય પથ્થર કોણે મૂક્યો છે?
7 When the stars were made, all my angels praised me with a loud voice.
૭કે જ્યારે પ્રભાતના તારાઓએ સાથે ગીત ગાયું, અને સર્વ ઈશ્વરના પુત્રો આનંદથી પોકાર કર્યો?
8 And I shut up the sea with gates, when it rushed out, coming forth out its mother's womb.
૮જાણે ગર્ભાસ્થાનમાંથી નીકળ્યો હોય તેવા સમુદ્રને રોકવા તેના દરવાજાઓ કોણે બંધ કર્યા?
9 And I made a cloud its clothing, and swathed it in mist.
૯જ્યારે મેં વાદળાંઓને તેનું વસ્ત્ર બનાવ્યું, અને ગાઢ અંધકારથી તેને વીંટાળી દીધો.
10 And I set bounds to it, surrounding it with bars and gates.
૧૦મેં તેની બાજુઓની હદ બનાવી, અને જ્યારે તેને દરવાજાઓની સીમાઓ મૂકી,
11 And I said to it, Hitherto shalt thou come, but thou shalt not go beyond, but thy waves shall be confined within thee.
૧૧મેં સમુદ્રને કહ્યું, ‘તું અહીં સુધી આવી શકે છે પણ અહીંથી આગળ નહિ; અહીંથી આગળ ઉલ્લંઘન કરીશ નહિ. તારાં પ્રચંડ મોજા અહીં અટકી જશે.’
12 Or did I order the morning light in thy time; and [did] the morning star [then first] see his appointed place;
૧૨શું તેં કદી પ્રભાત આદેશ આપ્યો છે? સવારે સૂર્યના કિરણોએ કઈ દિશામાં ઊગવું તે શું તમે નક્કી કરો છો?
13 to lay hold of the extremities of the earth, to cast out the ungodly out of it?
૧૩માટે તે પૃથ્વીની દિશાઓને પકડે છે, તેથી દુર્જનોને ત્યાંથી નાસી જવું પડે છે.
14 Or didst thou take clay of the ground, and form a living creature, and set it with the power of speech upon the earth?
૧૪જેમ બીબા પ્રમાણે માટીના આકારો બદલાય છે તેમ પૃથ્વીનો પ્રકાશ બદલાય છે; સર્વ વસ્તુઓ વસ્ત્રોની જેમ બહાર દેખાય છે અને બદલાય છે.
15 And hast thou removed light from the ungodly, and crushed the arm of the proud?
૧૫દુર્જનો પાસેથી તેઓનો પ્રકાશ લઈ લેવામાં આવ્યો છે; અહંકારીઓના હાથ ભાંગી નાખવામાં આવે છે.
16 Or hast thou gone to the source of the sea, and walked in the tracks of the deep?
૧૬તું કદી સમુદ્રના મૂળસ્થાનની સપાટીએ ગયો છે? તું ક્યારેય મહાસાગરના ઊંડાણમાં ચાલ્યો છે?
17 And do the gates of death open to thee for fear; and did the porters of hell quake when they saw thee? (questioned)
૧૭શું મરણદ્વારો તારી સમક્ષ જાહેર થયાં છે? શું તેં કદી મરણછાયાનાં દ્વાર જોયાં છે?
18 And hast thou been instructed in the breadth of the [whole earth] under heaven? tell me now, what is the extent of it?
૧૮તું જાણે છે કે પૃથ્વી કેટલી વિશાળ છે? આવું જ્ઞાન તારી પાસે હોય તો તે મને કહે.
19 And in what kind of a land does the light dwell? and of what kind is the place of darkness?
૧૯પ્રકાશનું ઉદ્દ્ગમસ્થાન ક્યાં છે? અંધકારનું સ્થાન ક્યાં છે?
20 If thou couldest bring me to their [utmost] boundaries, and if also thou knowest their paths;
૨૦શું તું પ્રકાશ અને અંધકારને તેમના કાર્યને સ્થાને પાછા લઈ જઈ શકે છે? શું તું તેમના ઘર તરફનો માર્ગ શોધી શકે છે?
21 I know then that thou wert born at that time, and the number of thy years is great.
૨૧આ બધું તો તું જાણે છે, કારણ કે ત્યારે તારો જન્મ થઈ ચૂક્યો હતો; અને તારા આયુષ્યના દિવસો લાંબા છે!
22 But hast thou gone to the treasures of snow? and hast thou seen the treasures of hail?
૨૨શું તું બરફના ભંડારોમાં ગયો છે, અથવા તેના સંગ્રહસ્થાન શું તેં જોયાં છે,
23 And is there a store [of them], for thee against the time of [thine] enemies, for the day of wars and battle?
૨૩આ સર્વ બાબતો આફતના સમયને માટે, અને લડાઈ અને યુદ્ધના દિવસો માટે રાખી છે.
24 And whence proceeds the frost? or [whence] is the south wind dispersed over the [whole world] under heaven?
૨૪જે માર્ગે અજવાળાની વહેંચણી થાય છે તેં જોયા છે તથા જ્યાં પૂર્વ તરફના પવનને આખી પૃથ્વી પર ફેલાવે છે તે સ્થળે તું ગયો છે?
25 And who prepared a course for the violent rain, and a way for the thunders;
૨૫વરસાદના પ્રચંડ પ્રવાહ માટે નાળાં અને ખીણો કોણે ખોદ્યા છે? ગર્જના કરતો વીજળીનો માર્ગ કોણે બનાવ્યો છે?
26 to rain upon the land where [there is] no man, the wilderness, where there is not a man in it; so as to feed the untrodden and uninhabited [land],
૨૬જ્યાં માનવીએ પગ પણ નથી મૂક્યો, એવી સૂકી અને ઉજ્જડ ધરતી પર તે ભરપૂર વરસાદ વરસાવે છે,
27 and cause it to send forth a crop of green herbs?
૨૭જેથી ઉજ્જડ તથા વેરાન જમીન તૃપ્ત થાય, જેથી ત્યાં લીલોછમ ઘાસચારો ફૂટી નીકળે.
28 Who is the rain's father? and who has generated the drops of dew?
૨૮શું વરસાદનો કોઈ પિતા છે? ઝાકળનાં બિંદુઓ ક્યાંથી આવે છે?
29 And out of whose womb comes the ice? and who has produced the frost in the sky,
૨૯કોના ગર્ભમાંથી હિમ આવે છે? આકાશમાં ઠરી ગયેલું સફેદ ઝાકળ કોણે ઉત્પન્ન કર્યું છે?
30 which descends like flowing water? who has terrified the face of the ungodly?
૩૦પાણી ઠરીને પથ્થરના જેવું થઈ જાય છે; અને મહાસગારની ઊંડી સપાટી પણ થીજી જાય છે.
31 And dost thou understand the band of Pleias, and hast thou opened the barrier of Orion?
૩૧આકાશના તારાઓને શું તું પકડમાં રાખી શકે છે? શું તું કૃતિકા અથવા મૃગશીર્ષનાં બંધ નક્ષત્રોને છોડી શકે છે?
32 Or wilt thou reveal Mazuroth in his season, and the evening star with his rays? Wilt thou guide them?
૩૨શું તું તારાઓના સમૂહને નક્કી કરેલા સમયો અનુસાર પ્રગટ કરી શકે છે? શું તું સપ્તષિર્ને તેના મંડળ સહિત ઘેરી શકે છે?
33 And knowest thou the changes of heaven, or the events which take place together under heaven?
૩૩શું તું આકાશને અંકુશમાં લેવાના સિદ્ધાંતો જાણે છે? શું તું આકાશોને પૃથ્વી પર સત્તા ચલાવવા સ્થાપી શકે છે?
34 And wilt thou call a cloud with thy voice, and will it obey thee with a violent shower of much rain?
૩૪શું તું તારો અવાજ વાદળાં સુધી પહોંચાડી શકે છે, કે જેથી પુષ્કળ વરસાદ આવે?
35 And wilt thou send lightnings, and they shall go? and shall they say to thee, What is [thy pleasure]?
૩૫શું તું વીજળીને આજ્ઞા કરી શકે છે કે, તે તારી પાસે આવીને કહે કે, ‘અમે અહીં છીએ?’
36 And who has given to women skill in weaving, or knowledge of embroidery?
૩૬વાદળાંઓમાં ડહાપણ કોણે મૂક્યું છે? અથવા ધુમ્મસને કોણે સમજણ આપી છે?
37 And who is he that numbers the clouds in wisdom, and has bowed the heaven [down] to the earth?
૩૭કોણ પોતાની કુશળતાથી વાદળોની ગણતરી કરી શકે? કે, આકાશોની પાણી ભરેલી મશકોને કોણ રેડી શકે
38 For it is spread out as dusty earth, and I have cemented it as one hewn stone to another.
૩૮જેથી ધરતી પર સર્વત્ર ધૂળ અને માટી પાણીથી પલળીને એકબીજા સાથે ચોંટી જાય છે?
39 And wilt thou hunt a prey for the lions? and satisfy the desires of the serpents?
૩૯શું તું સિંહણને માટે શિકાર પકડી શકે, અથવા તો શું તમે તેના જુવાન સિંહણના બચ્ચાના ભૂખને સંતોષી શકે છે?
40 For they fear in their lairs, and lying in wait couch in the woods.
૪૦જ્યારે તેઓ તેમની ગુફામાં લપાઈને બેઠા હોય ત્યારે અથવા ઝાડીમાં સંતાઈને તેઓના શિકાર પર તરાપ મારવા તૈયાર બેઠા હોય ત્યારે?
41 And who has prepared food for the raven? for its young ones wander and cry to the Lord, in search of food.
૪૧જ્યારે કાગડા અને તેમનાં બચ્ચાં ખોરાકને માટે ભટકે છે અને ઈશ્વરને પોકાર કરે છે ત્યારે તેઓને ખોરાક કોણ પૂરો પાડે છે?
