< Jeremias 24 >

1 The Lord shewed me two baskets of figs, lying in front of the temple of the Lord, after Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon had carried captive Jechonias son of Joakim king of Juda, and the princes, and the artificers, and the prisoners, and the rich men out of Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.
Naʻe fakahā [ha meʻa ]kiate au ʻe Sihova, pea vakai, ko e kato fiki ʻe ua naʻe tuku ʻi he ʻao ʻoe fale ʻo Sihova, ʻi he hili hono fetuku fakapōpula ʻe Nepukanesa ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone ʻa Sekonia ko e foha ʻo Sihoiakimi ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta, pea mo e ngaahi houʻeiki ʻo Siuta, mo e kau tufunga, mo e kau tufunga ukamea, mei Selūsalema, pea ʻomi ʻakinautolu ki Papilone.
2 The one basket was [full] of very good figs, as the early figs; and the other basket was [full] of very bad figs, which could not be eaten, for their badness.
Ko e ngaahi fiki lelei ʻaupito ʻi he kato ʻe taha, ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi fiki ʻoku tomuʻa momoho: pea naʻe ʻi he kato ʻe taha ʻae ngaahi fiki kovi ʻaupito, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai faʻa kai, koeʻuhi ko ʻenau kovi.
3 And the Lord said to me, What seest thou, Jeremias? and I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which cannot be eaten, for their badness.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sihova kiate au, “Selemaia, ko e hā ʻoku ke mamata ki ai?” Pea naʻaku pehē, “Ko e ngaahi fiki: ko e ngaahi fiki lelei, ʻoku lelei ʻaupito; pea ko ia ʻoku kovi ʻoku kovi ʻaupito, ʻoku ʻikai faʻa kai, koeʻuhi ko ʻenau kovi.”
4 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
Pea naʻe toe hoko kiate au ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻo pehē,
5 Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; As these good figs, so will I acknowledge the Jews that have been carried away captive, whom I have sent forth out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for good.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; “Te u fakaʻilonga pehē ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi fiki lelei, ʻakinautolu ʻo Siuta kuo ʻave fakapōpula, ʻakinautolu kuo u kapusi ʻi he fonua ni ki he fonua ʻoe kau Kalitia koeʻuhi ke nau lelei ai.
6 And I will fix mine eyes upon them for good, and I will restore them into this land for good: and I will build them up, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.
7 And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be to me a people, and I will be to them a God: for they shall turn to me with all their heart.
Pea te u foaki kiate kinautolu ha loto ke nau ʻiloʻi au, koeʻuhi ko au ko Sihova: pea te nau hoko ko hoku kakai, pea te u hoko ko honau ʻOtua: he te nau tafoki kiate au ʻaki honau loto kotoa.
8 And as the bad figs, which cannot be eaten, for their badness; thus saith the Lord, So will I deliver Sedekias king of Juda, and his nobles, and the remnant of Jerusalem, them that are left in this land, and the dwellers in Egypt.
“Pea hangē ko e ngaahi fiki kovi, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai faʻa kai, ko e meʻa ʻi heʻenau kovi; ʻoku pehē moʻoni ʻe Sihova, Te u foaki pehē ʻa Setikia ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta, pea mo hono ngaahi houʻeiki, pea mo hono toe ʻo Selūsalema, ʻaia ʻoku toe ʻi he fonua, pea ko kinautolu ʻoku nofo ʻi he fonua ko ʻIsipite.
9 And I will cause them to be dispersed into all the kingdoms of the earth, and they shall be for a reproach, and a proverb, and an [object of] hatred, and a curse, in every place whither I have driven them out.
Pea te u tukuange ʻakinautolu ke ʻave ki he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻo māmani ki he mamahi, mo e fakamā, mo e ongoongo kovi, ko e manukiʻanga mo e malaʻia, ʻi he ngaahi potu kotoa pē ʻaia te u kapusi ʻakinautolu ki ai.
10 And I will send against them famine, and pestilence, and the sword, until they are consumed from off the land which I gave them.
Pea te u fekau kiate kinautolu ʻae heletā, mo e honge, pea mo e mahaki fakaʻauha, kaeʻoua ke fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu mei he funga fonua ʻaia naʻaku foaki kiate kinautolu mo ʻenau ngaahi tamai.”
