Genesis 34
1 And Dina, the daughter of Lea, whom she bore to Jacob, went forth to observe the daughters of the inhabitants.
Einst ging Dina, Leas Tochter, die sie Jakob geboren, aus, sich unter des Landes Töchtern sehen zu lassen.
2 And Sychem the son of Emmor the Evite, the ruler of the land, saw her, and took her and lay with her, and humbled her.
Da erblickte sie Sichem, der Sohn des chiwitischen Landesfürsten Chamor, entführte sie, wohnte ihr bei und tat ihr Gewalt an.
3 And he was attached to the soul of Dina the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and he spoke kindly to the damsel.
Er aber hängte sich mit ganzer Seele an Jakobs Tochter Dina und gewann das Mädchen lieb. So redete er dem Mädchen zu Herzen.
4 Sychem spoke to Emmor his father, saying, Take for me this damsel to wife.
Und Sichem sprach zu seinem Vater Chamor also: "Freie dies Kind mir zum Weibe!"
5 And Jacob heard that the son of Emmor had defiled Dina his daughter (now his sons were with his cattle in the plain). And Jacob was silent until they came.
Jakob aber hatte vernommen, man habe seine Tochter Dina geschändet. Seine Söhne aber waren mit seinem Vieh auf dem Felde gewesen. So hatte Jakob bis zu ihrer Rückkehr geschwiegen.
6 And Emmor the father of Sychem went forth to Jacob, to speak to him.
Da ging Sichems Vater Chamor zu Jakob, mit ihm Rücksprache zu nehmen.
7 And the sons of Jacob came from the plain; and when they heard, the men were deeply pained, and it was very grievous to them, because [the man] wrought folly in Israel, having lain with the daughter of Jacob, and so it must not be.
Die Söhne Jakobs aber waren sofort vom Felde heimgekommen, als sie davon gehört hatten. Die Männer waren erbittert und in heftigem Zorn; denn eine Schandtat hatte er an Israel begangen, daß er Jakobs Tochter beschlief. Solches durfte nicht geschehen!
8 And Emmor spoke to them, saying, Sychem my son has chosen in his heart your daughter; give her therefore to him for a wife,
Chamor aber redete mit ihnen also: "Mein Sohn Sichem hat sein Herz an eure Tochter gehängt. Gebt sie ihm doch zum Weibe!
9 and intermarry with us. Give us your daughters, and take our daughters for your sons.
Verschwägert euch mit uns! Eure Töchter gebt ihr uns und nehmt euch unsere Töchter!
10 And dwell in the midst of us; and, behold, the land is spacious before you, dwell in it, and trade, and get possessions in it.
Dann bleibt ihr bei uns wohnen. Das Land steht euch offen. Bleibt da und zieht umher und siedelt darin!"
11 And Sychem said to her father and to her brothers, I would find grace before you, and we will give whatever ye shall name.
Und Sichem sprach zu ihrem Vater und ihren Brüdern: "Möchte ich Gnade in euren Augen finden! Was ihr auch von mir fordert, ich gebe es.
12 Multiply [your demand of] dowry very much, and I will give accordingly as ye shall say to me, only ye shall give me this damsel for a wife.
Fordert noch soviel Kaufgeld und Geschenke von mir, ich will's geben, wie ihr's von mir fordert. Nur gebt das Mädchen mir zum Weibe."
13 And the sons of Jacob answered to Sychem and Emmor his father craftily, and spoke to them, because they had defiled Dina their sister.
Da antworteten Jakobs Söhne Sichem und seinem Vater Chamor arglistig; das Wort aber führten die, deren Vollschwester Dina er geschändet hatte.
14 And Symeon and Levi, the brothers of Dina, said to them, We shall not be able to do this thing, to give our sister to a man who is uncircumcised, for it is a reproach to us.
Sie sprachen zu ihm: "Wir können dies nicht tun, unsere Schwester einem unbeschnittenen Mann geben. Denn dies gilt uns als schmachvoll.
15 Only on these terms will we conform to you, and dwell among you, if ye also will be as we are, in that every male of you be circumcised.
Doch unter der Bedingung willfahren wir euch, wenn ihr werdet wie wir, insofern alles Männliche bei euch beschnitten wird.
16 And we will give our daughters to you, and we will take of your daughters for wives to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will be as one race.
Dann geben wir euch unsere Töchter und nehmen uns eure Töchter und wohnen bei euch und werden so ein Volk.
17 But if ye will not hearken to us to be circumcised, we will take our daughter and depart.
Wollt ihr aber wegen der Beschneidung nicht auf uns hören, dann nehmen wir unsere Tochter und gehen."
18 And the words pleased Emmor, and Sychem the son of Emmor.
Und der Vorschlag gefiel Chamor, ebenso Chamors Sohne Sichem.
19 And the young man delayed not to do this thing, for he was much attached to Jacob's daughter, and he was the most honourable of all in his father's house.
Der Jüngling aber zauderte nicht, dies zu veranlassen; denn er hatte Gefallen an Jakobs Tochter. Auch war er im ganzen Hause seines Vaters der Angesehenste.
20 And Emmor and Sychem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke to the men of their city, saying,
So kamen Chamor und sein Sohn Sichem zum Tor ihrer Stadt und redeten also zu den Männern ihrer Stadt:
21 These men are peaceable, let them dwell with us upon the land, and let them trade in it, and behold the land is extensive before them; we will take their daughters to us for wives, and we will give them our daughters.
"Friedlich gesinnt sind uns diese Männer. Sie sollen im Lande wohnen und darin verkehren, hat doch das Land nach allen Seiten Raum für sie. Wir wollen ihre Töchter uns zu Weibern nehmen und ihnen unsere Töchter geben.
22 Only on these terms will the men conform to us to dwell with us so as to be one people, if every male of us be circumcised, as they also are circumcised.
Doch einzig unter der Bedingung wollen diese Männer bei uns wohnen bleiben und ein Volk werden, wenn sich alles Männliche bei uns beschneidet, wie sie beschnitten sind.
23 And shall not their cattle and their herds, and their possessions, be ours? only in this let us conform to them, and they will dwell with us.
Werden ihre Herden aller Art und all ihr Vieh uns nicht von Nutzen sein? So wollen wir ihnen willfahren, daß sie bei uns wohnen bleiben."
24 And all that went in at the gate of their city hearkened to Emmor and Sychem his son, and they were circumcised in the flesh of their foreskin every male.
Da hörten auf Chamor und seinen Sohn Sichem alle, die zum Tore seiner Stadt hinausziehen konnten, und alle Männer, die zum Tore seiner Stadt hinausziehen konnten, ließen sich beschneiden.
25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, the two sons of Jacob, Symeon and Levi, Dina's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city securely, and slew every male.
Aber am dritten Tage, als sie wundkrank waren, griffen die beiden Jakobssöhne, Simeon und Levi, Dinas Brüder, jeder nach seinem Schwert, überfielen dreist die Stadt und erschlugen jede Mannesperson.
26 And they slew Emmor and Sychem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dina out of the house of Sychem, and went forth.
Auch Chamor und seinen Sohn Sichem schlugen sie mit des Schwertes Schärfe, dann holten sie Dina aus Sichems Hause.
27 But the sons of Jacob came upon the wounded, and ravaged the city wherein they had defiled Dina their sister.
Dann zogen auch die anderen Jakobssöhne aus, kamen über die Erschlagenen und plünderten die Stadt, weil sie ihre Schwester geschändet hatten.
28 And their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses they took, and all things whatsoever were in the city, and whatsoever were in the plain.
Sie nahmen ihre Schafe, Rinder, Esel, was in der Stadt und draußen war.
29 And they took captive all the persons of them, and all their store, and their wives, and plundered both whatever things there were in the city, and whatever things there were in the houses.
All ihre Habe und all ihre Kinder und ihre Weiber erbeuteten sie; und plünderten alles, was in den Häusern war.
30 And Jacob said to Symeon and Levi, Ye have made me hateful so that I should be evil to all the inhabitants of the land, both among the Chananites and the Pherezites, and I am few in number; they will gather themselves against me and cut me in pieces, and I shall be utterly destroyed, and my house.
Da sprach Jakob zu Simeon und Levi: "Ihr habt mich verstört. Ihr macht mich bei des Landes Bewohnern, den Kanaanitern und den Perizitern, verhaßt, und doch habe ich nur wenige ohnmächtige Wichte. Rotten sie sich gegen mich zusammen, dann schlagen sie mich, und ich werde mit meinem Haus vernichtet."
31 And they said, Nay, but shall they treat our sister as an harlot?
Sie sprachen: "Durfte man denn unsere Schwester wie eine Dirne behandeln?"
