Deuteronomy 5
1 And Moses called all Israel, and said to them, Hear, Israel, the ordinances and judgments, all that I speak in your ears this day, and ye shall learn them, and observe to do them.
Moses berief ganz Israel und sprach zu ihnen: "Höre, Israel, die Gesetze und Gebräuche, die ich heute vor euren Ohren vortrage! Macht euch damit vertraut und habt acht, sie zu tun!
2 The Lord your God made a covenant with you in Choreb.
Der Herr, unser Gott, hat mit uns am Horeb einen Bund geschlossen.
3 The Lord did not make this covenant with your fathers, but with you: ye are all here alive this day.
Nicht mit unseren Vätern hat der Herr diesen Bund geschlossen, sondern mit uns selber, mit diesen hier, die heute mit uns leben.
4 The Lord spoke to you face to face in the mountain out of the midst of the fire.
Der Herr hat mit euch auf dem Berge von Angesicht zu Angesicht aus dem Feuer geredet.
5 And I stood between the Lord and you at that time to report to you the words of the Lord, (because ye were afraid before the fire, and ye went not up to the mountain) saying,
Ich selber stand damals zwischen dem Herrn und euch, des Herrn Wort euch zu künden; denn ihr habt euch vor dem Feuer gefürchtet und seid nicht auf den Berg gestiegen. Er sprach:
6 I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
'Ich der Herr, bin dein Gott, der dich aus dem Ägypterland geführt, aus dem Sklavenhause.
7 Thou shalt have no other gods before my face.
Du sollst mir zum Trotze keine anderen Götter haben!
8 Thou shalt not make to thyself an image, nor likeness of any thing, whatever things [are] in the heaven above, and whatever [are] in the earth beneath, and whatever [are] in the waters under the earth.
Du sollst dir kein Bild machen irgendwelcher Gestalt, die am Himmel droben und unten auf Erden oder unter der Erde im Wasser ist!
9 Thou shalt not bow down to them, nor shalt thou serve them; for I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, visiting the sins of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation to them that hate me,
Du sollst dich nicht vor solchen niederwerfen, du sollst ihnen nicht dienen! Denn ich, der Herr, dein Gott, bin ein eifernder Gott, der die Schuld der Väter an den Kindern ahndet, an den Enkeln und Urenkeln derer, die mich hassen,
10 and doing mercifully to thousands of them that love me, and that keep my commandments.
aber Huld erweist dem tausendsten Gliede derer, die mich lieben und meine Gebote halten.
11 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord thy God will certainly not acquit him that takes his name in vain.
Du sollst nicht des Herrn, deines Gottes, Namen eitel nennen! Der Herr läßt den nicht ungestraft, der seinen Namen eitel nennt.
12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God commanded thee.
Wahre den Sabbattag, daß du ihn heilig haltest, wie der Herr, dein Gott, dir befohlen!
13 Six days thou shalt work, and thou shalt do all thy works;
Sechs Tage sollst du arbeiten, und so tu all dein Werk!
14 but on the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the Lord thy God: thou shalt do in it no work, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, thine ox, and thine ass, and all thy cattle, and the stranger that sojourns in the midst of thee; that thy man-servant may rest, and thy maid, and thine ox, as well as thou.
Der siebte Tag aber ist ein Sabbat zu des Herrn, deines Gottes, Ehren. Du sollst kein Werk tun, weder du noch dein Sohn, noch deine Tochter und nicht dein Knecht noch deine Magd und nicht dein Rind noch dein Esel noch eines deiner Lasttiere und nicht der Fremdling, der in deinen Toren weilt! Dein Knecht und deine Magd sollen ruhen wie du!
15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord thy God brought thee out thence with a mighty hand, and a high arm: therefore the Lord appointed thee to keep the sabbath day and to sanctify it.
Denk daran, daß du selbst Knecht warst im Ägypterlande, und daß der Herr, dein Gott, dich mit starker Hand und gerecktem Arm von dort weggeführt! Deshalb befiehlt der Herr, dein Gott, den Sabbat zu halten.
16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God commanded thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live long upon the land, which the Lord thy God gives thee.
Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter, wie dir der Herr, dein Gott, geboten, damit du lange lebest und es dir wohlergehe auf dem Boden, den dir der Herr, dein Gott, gibt!
17 Thou shalt not commit murder.
Du sollst nicht morden!
18 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Du sollst nicht ehebrechen!
19 Thou shalt not steal.
Du sollst nicht stehlen!
20 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Du sollst nicht als falscher Zeuge gegen deinen Nächsten aussagen!
21 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, nor his field, nor his man-servant, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any beast of his, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Begehre nicht deines Nächsten Weib! Hab keine Gelüste nach deines Nächsten Haus und Feld, Knecht oder Magd, nicht nach seinem Rind oder Esel und nicht nach irgend etwas, was deines Nächsten ist!'
22 These words the Lord spoke to all the assembly of you in the mountain out of the midst of the fire—[there was] darkness, blackness, storm, a loud voice—and he added no more, and he wrote them on two tables of stone, and he gave them to me.
Diese Worte hat der Herr mit lauter Stimme zu eurer Gesamtgemeinde geredet auf dem Berge aus dem Feuer, dem Gewölk und Dunkel heraus, nichts weiter. Dann schrieb er sie auf zwei Steintafeln und gab sie mir.
23 And it came to pass when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the fire, for the mountain burned with fire, that ye came to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders:
Als ihr aus dem Dunkel die Stimme hörtet und der Berg im Feuer brannte, tratet ihr zu mir her, alle eure Stammeshäupter und Ältesten, und spracht:
24 and ye said, Behold, the Lord our God has shewn us his glory, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: this day we have seen that God shall speak to man, and he shall live.
'Der Herr, unser Gott, zeigt uns seine Herrlichkeit und Größe. Wir hören aus dem Feuer seine Stimme. So erfahren wir heute, daß Gott mit einem Menschen redet und dieser bleibt leben.
25 And now let us not die, for this great fire will consume us, if we shall hear the voice of the Lord our God any more, and we shall die.
Aber warum sollen wir sterben? Dies große Feuer frißt uns noch. Wenn wir noch länger des Herrn, unseres Gottes, Stimme anhören, so sterben wir noch am Ende.
26 For what flesh [is there] which has heard the voice of the living God, speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we [have heard], and shall live?
Wo ist ein sterblich Wesen, das die Stimme des lebendigen Gottes aus dem Feuer hat reden hören wie wir, und blieb leben?
27 Do thou draw near, and hear all that the Lord our God shall say, and thou shalt speak to us all things whatsoever the Lord our God shall speak to thee, and we will hear, and do.
Tritt du hin und höre alles, was der Herr, unser Gott, sprechen will! Sage uns dann alles, was der Herr, unser Gott, dir sagt! Wir hören es und tun danach.'
28 And the Lord heard the voice of your words as ye spoke to me; and the Lord said to me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, even all things that they have said to thee. [They have] well [said] all that they have spoken.
Und der Herr hörte eure lauten Reden bei eurer Unterredung mit mir. Da sprach der Herr, unser Gott, zu mir: 'Ich habe dieses Volkes laute Reden gehört, die sie mit dir geführt haben. Sie haben recht mit allem, was sie sagen.
29 O that there were such a heart in them, that they should fear me and keep my commands always, that it might be well with them and with their sons for ever.
Daß doch ihr Herz so bliebe, mich allzeit zu fürchten und alle meine Gebote zu halten, auf daß es ihnen und ihren Kindern immer wohlergehe!
30 Go, say to them, Return ye to your houses;
Geh! Sag ihnen: Kehrt zu euren Zelten wieder!
31 but stand thou here with me, and I will tell thee all the commands, and the ordinances, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, and let them do so in the land which I give them for an inheritance.
Du aber bleib hier bei mir, daß ich dir alle Gebote, Gesetze und Gebräuche künde, die du sie lehren sollst, daß sie danach tun in dem Land, das ich ihnen zu eigen gebe!'
32 And ye shall take heed to do as the Lord thy God commanded thee; ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left,
Seid also bedacht zu tun, wie euch der Herr, euer Gott, befahl! Weicht nicht rechts und nicht links ab!
33 according to all the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk in it, that he may give thee rest; and that it may be well with thee, and ye may prolong your days on the land which ye shall inherit.
Genau den Weg geht, den der Herr, euer Gott, euch vorschreibt, auf daß ihr lebet, glücklich werdet und lange lebet in dem Land, das ihr erobert!"
