Kings II 21
1 And there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David sought the face of the Lord. And the Lord said, [There is] guilt upon Saul and his house because of his bloody murder, whereby he slew the Gabaonites.
Und es war eine Hungersnot in den Tagen Davids, drei Jahre, Jahr für Jahr. Und David suchte das Angesicht Jehovahs. Und Jehovah sprach: Wegen Sauls und wegen des Bluthauses, dafür, daß er die Gibeoniter tötete.
2 And King David called the Gabaonites, and said to them; —(now the Gabaonites are not the children of Israel, but [are] of the remnant of the Amorite, and the children of Israel had sworn to them: but Saul sought to smite them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Juda.)
Und der König rief die Gibeoniter und sprach zu ihnen. Die Gibeoniter sind nicht von den Söhnen Israels, sondern übriggeblieben von den Amoritern, und die Söhne Israel hatten ihnen geschworen, Saul aber hatte sie zu erschlagen gesucht, weil er für die Söhne Israels und Judahs, eiferte.
3 And David said to the Gabaonites, What shall I do to you? and wherewithal shall I make atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the Lord?
Und David sprach zu den Gibeonitern: Was soll ich euch tun, und womit sühnen, auf daß ihr Jehovahs Erbe segnet?
4 And the Gabaonites said to him, We have no [question about] silver or gold with Saul and with his house; and there is no man for us to put to death in Israel.
Und die Gibeoniter sprachen zu ihm: Wir wollen kein Silber und Gold von Saul und von seinem Hause, auch dürfen wir keinen Mann töten in Israel; er aber sprach: Was ihr sprechet, will ich euch tun.
5 And he said, What say ye? speak, and I will do it for you. And they said to the king, The man who would have made an end of us, and persecuted us, who plotted against us to destroy us, let us utterly destroy him, so that he shall have no standing in all the coasts of Israel.
Und sie sprachen zum König: Der Mann, der uns verzehrte und der wider uns sann, uns zu vernichten, daß wir uns nicht stellen durften in alle Grenze Israels;
6 Let one give us seven men of his sons, and let us hang them up in the sun to the Lord in Gabaon of Saul, as chosen out for the Lord. And the king said, I will give [them].
Man gebe uns sieben Männer von seinen Söhnen, auf daß wir sie dem Jehovah an den Pfahl schlagen, in Gibeath Saul, des von Jehovah Erwählten. Und der König sprach: Ich will sie geben.
7 But the king spared Memphibosthe son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the oath of the Lord that was between them, even between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
Und der König hatte Mitleid mit Mephiboscheth, dem Sohne Jonathans, des Sohnes Sauls, wegen des Schwures Jehovahs, der zwischen ihnen, zwischen David und Jonathan, dem Sohne Sauls, war.
8 And the king took the two sons of Respha the daughter of Aia, whom she bore to Saul, Hermonoi and Memphibosthe, and the five sons of Michol daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Esdriel son of Berzelli the Moulathite.
Und der König nahm die zwei Söhne Rizpahs, der Tochter Ajahs, die sie dem Saul geboren, Armoni und Mephiboscheth, und die fünf Söhne der Michal, der Tochter Sauls, die sie dem Adriel, dem Sohne Barsillais, dem Mecholathiter, geboren.
9 And he gave them into the hand of the Gabaonites, and they hanged them up to the sun in the mountain before the lord: and they fell, even the seven together: moreover they were put to death in the days of harvest at the commencement, in the beginning of barley-harvest.
Und er gab sie in die Hand der Gibeoniter, und sie schlugen sie an den Pfahl auf dem Berg vor Jehovah, und die sieben fielen zusammen, und sie wurden getötet in den ersten Tagen der Ernte, als die Gerstenernte begann.
10 And Respha the daughter of Aia took sackcloth, and fixed it for herself on the rock in the beginning of barley harvest, until water dropped upon them out of heaven: and she did not suffer the birds of the air to rest upon them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
Und Rizpah, Ajahs Tochter, nahm einen Sack und breitete ihn für sich auf den Felsen, vom Anbeginn der Ernte, bis daß die Wasser vom Himmel sich über sie ergossen, und gab nicht zu, daß das Gevögel des Himmels bei Tag auf ihnen ruhte, noch das wilde Tier des Feldes bei Nacht.
11 And it was told David what Respha the daughter of Aia the concubine of Saul had done, [and they were faint, and Dan, the son of Joa of the offspring of the giants overtook them.]
Und es ward dem David angesagt, was Rizpah, die Tochter Ajahs, das Kebsweib Sauls, tat.
12 And David went and took the bones of Saul, and the bones of Jonathan his son, from the men of the sons of Jabis Galaad, who stole them from the street of Baethsan; for the Philistines set them there in the day in which the Philistines smote Saul in Gelbue.
Und David ging hin und nahm die Gebeine Sauls und die Gebeine Jonathans, seines Sohnes, von den Bürgern von Jabesch in Gilead, die sie von dem Torplatze zu Beth-Schan gestohlen, wo die Philister sie am Tage, da die Philister den Saul in Gilboa schlugen, aufgehängt hatten;
13 And he carried up thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son, and gathered the bones of them that had been hanged.
Und brachte von dannen herauf die Gebeine Sauls und die Gebeine Jonathans, seines Sohnes. Und sie sammelten die Gebeine der an den Pfahl Geschlagenen.
14 And they buried the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son, and the bones of them that had been hanged, in the land of Benjamin in the hill, in the sepulchre of Cis his father; and they did all things that the king commanded: and after this God hearkened to [the prayers of] the land.
Und sie begruben die Gebeine Sauls und Jonathans, seines Sohnes, im Lande Benjamin zu Zelah im Grab seines Vaters Kisch, und sie taten alles, was der König geboten hatte. Und Gott ließ Sich danach vom Lande erflehen.
15 And there was yet war between the Philistines and Israel: and David went down and his servants with him, and they fought with the Philistines, and David went.
Und es war wieder ein Streit der Philister mit Israel, und David ging hinab und seine Knechte mit ihm, und sie stritten mit den Philistern, und David ward matt.
16 And Jesbi, who was of the progeny of Rapha, and the head of whose spear [was] three hundred shekels of brass in weight, who also was girt with a club, even he thought to smite David.
Jischbi aber zu Nob, der einer der Kinder des Rapha war, und das Gewicht seiner Speerspitze war dreihundert Schekel Erz, und war von neuem umgürtet, und sagte, er werde David erschlagen
17 And Abessa the son of Saruia helped him and smote the Philistine, and slew him. Then the men of David swore, saying, Thou shalt not any longer go out with us to battle, and thou shalt not quench the lamp of Israel.
Aber Abischai, der Sohn Zerujahs, stand ihm bei und schlug den Philister und tötete ihn. Da schwuren die Männer Davids vor ihm und sprachen: Du sollst nicht mehr mit uns zum Streite ausziehen, auf daß du nicht auslöschest die Leuchte Israels.
18 And after this there was a battle again with the Philistines in Geth: then Sebocha the Astatothite slew Seph of the progeny of Rapha.
Und es geschah danach, daß wieder Streit war in Gob mit den Philistern. Da erschlug Sibbechai, der Chuschathiter, den Saph von den Kindern Raphas.
19 And there was a battle in Rom with the Philistines; and Eleanan son of Ariorgim the Bethleemite slew Goliath the Gittite; and the staff of his spear [was] as a weaver's beam.
Und es war wieder ein Streit mit den Philistern in Gob; und Elchanan, Jaare Orgims Sohn, ein Bethlehemite, schlug den Gathiter Goliath. Und das Holz seines Spießes war wie ein Weberbaum.
20 And there was yet a battle in Geth: and there was a man of stature, and the fingers of his hands and the toes of his feet [were] six on each, four and twenty in number: and he also was born to Rapha.
Und es war wieder ein Streit in Gath, und da war ein riesenhafter Mann, und die Finger seiner Hände und die Zehen seiner Füße waren sechs und sechs, vierundzwanzig an der Zahl, und auch er ward dem Rapha geboren.
21 And he defied Israel, and Jonathan son of Semei brother of David, smote him.
Und der schmähte Israel; und es erschlug ihn Jehonathan, der Sohn von Schimai, dem Bruder Davids.
22 These four were born descendants of the giants in Geth, the family of Rapha; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
Diese vier waren geboren dem Rapha in Gath, und fielen durch die Hand Davids und durch die Hand seiner Knechte.
