Kings II 21
1 And there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David sought the face of the Lord. And the Lord said, [There is] guilt upon Saul and his house because of his bloody murder, whereby he slew the Gabaonites.
In Davids Tagen war drei Jahre lang, Jahr für Jahr, eine Hungersnot. Da suchte David das Antlitz des Herrn. Der Herr aber sprach: "Auf Saul und seinem Haus ruht eine Blutschuld, weil er die Gibeoniten getötet hat."
2 And King David called the Gabaonites, and said to them; —(now the Gabaonites are not the children of Israel, but [are] of the remnant of the Amorite, and the children of Israel had sworn to them: but Saul sought to smite them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Juda.)
Da berief der König die Gibeoniten und sprach zu ihnen. (Die Gibeoniten aber gehörten nicht zu den Söhnen Israels, sondern zu dem Reste der Amoriter. Doch die Söhne Israels hatten sich ihnen eidlich verpflichtet. Saul aber suchte in seinem Eifer für die Söhne Israels und Juda sie auszurotten.)
3 And David said to the Gabaonites, What shall I do to you? and wherewithal shall I make atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the Lord?
Da sprach David zu den Gibeoniten: "Was soll ich für euch tun? Womit Sühne schaffen? Segnet doch des Herrn Eigentum!"
4 And the Gabaonites said to him, We have no [question about] silver or gold with Saul and with his house; and there is no man for us to put to death in Israel.
Da sprachen die Gibeoniten zu ihm: "Wir wollen kein Silber und Gold von Saul und seinem Hause. Auch im übrigen Israel gibt es keinen Mann, dessen Tod wir fordern." Da sprach er: "Was ihr sagt, tue ich für euch."
5 And he said, What say ye? speak, and I will do it for you. And they said to the king, The man who would have made an end of us, and persecuted us, who plotted against us to destroy us, let us utterly destroy him, so that he shall have no standing in all the coasts of Israel.
Da sprachen sie zum König: "Der Mann, der uns aufgerieben und auf unsere Vernichtung gesonnen, daß wir im ganzen Bereich Israels nicht mehr bestünden:
6 Let one give us seven men of his sons, and let us hang them up in the sun to the Lord in Gabaon of Saul, as chosen out for the Lord. And the king said, I will give [them].
aus seinen Söhnen soll man uns sieben Männer geben, daß wir sie dem Herrn aussetzen zu Gibea Sauls, des vom Herrn Erwählten!" Da sprach der König: "Ich gebe Sie."
7 But the king spared Memphibosthe son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the oath of the Lord that was between them, even between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
Der König aber verschonte Mephiboset, den Sohn des Saulssohnes Jonatan, wegen des Herrnschwures, der zwischen David und Sauls Sohn Jonatan bestand.
8 And the king took the two sons of Respha the daughter of Aia, whom she bore to Saul, Hermonoi and Memphibosthe, and the five sons of Michol daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Esdriel son of Berzelli the Moulathite.
So nahm der König der Rispa, Ajas Tochter, beide Söhne, die sie Saul geboren hatte, Armoni und Mephiboset, sowie der Merab, Sauls Tochter, fünf Söhne, die sie dem Mecholatiter Adriel, Barzillais Sohn, geboren hatte.
9 And he gave them into the hand of the Gabaonites, and they hanged them up to the sun in the mountain before the lord: and they fell, even the seven together: moreover they were put to death in the days of harvest at the commencement, in the beginning of barley-harvest.
Diese gab er den Gibeoniten. Und sie setzten sie auf dem Berge vor dem Herrn aus. So kamen die Sieben zusammen um. Und zwar starben sie in den Tagen der Gerstenernte, in den ersten Tagen, zu Beginn der Gerstenernte.
10 And Respha the daughter of Aia took sackcloth, and fixed it for herself on the rock in the beginning of barley harvest, until water dropped upon them out of heaven: and she did not suffer the birds of the air to rest upon them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
Da nahm Ajas Tochter Rispa das Trauergewand und breitete es sich auf den Felsen, vom Beginn der Gerstenernte, bis Wasser vom Himmel auf sie floß. So hatte sie es verhütet, daß des Himmels Vögel bei Tag und des Feldes Tiere bei Nacht über sie herfielen.
11 And it was told David what Respha the daughter of Aia the concubine of Saul had done, [and they were faint, and Dan, the son of Joa of the offspring of the giants overtook them.]
Da ward David gemeldet, was Rispa, Ajas Tochter und Sauls Nebenweib, getan.
12 And David went and took the bones of Saul, and the bones of Jonathan his son, from the men of the sons of Jabis Galaad, who stole them from the street of Baethsan; for the Philistines set them there in the day in which the Philistines smote Saul in Gelbue.
Da ging David hin und holte die Gebeine Sauls und die seines Sohnes Jonatan von den Bürgern in Jabes Gilead. Sie hatten sie vom Marktplatz in Betsean entführt, wo sie die Philister aufgehängt hatten an jenem Tage, als sie Saul am Gilboa schlugen.
13 And he carried up thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son, and gathered the bones of them that had been hanged.
So brachte er Sauls und seines Sohnes Jonatan Gebeine von dort weg. Dann sammelte man die Gebeine der Ausgesetzten
14 And they buried the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son, and the bones of them that had been hanged, in the land of Benjamin in the hill, in the sepulchre of Cis his father; and they did all things that the king commanded: and after this God hearkened to [the prayers of] the land.
und begrub sie mit Sauls und seines Sohnes Jonatan Gebeinen im Lande Benjamin zu Sela im Grabe seines Vaters Kis. So tat man alles, was der König befohlen hatte, und Gott ward danach dem Lande hold gestimmt. -
15 And there was yet war between the Philistines and Israel: and David went down and his servants with him, and they fought with the Philistines, and David went.
Da war wieder Krieg zwischen den Philistern und Israel. David zog mit seinen Dienern hinab, und sie kämpften mit den Philistern. David aber ward müde.
16 And Jesbi, who was of the progeny of Rapha, and the head of whose spear [was] three hundred shekels of brass in weight, who also was girt with a club, even he thought to smite David.
Da nahm ihn Benob gefangen. Dieser gehörte zu den Kindern des Akis, und sein Speer wog 300 Sekel Erz; er hatte erst jüngst den Gurt angelegt. Und schon dachte er daran, David zu erschlagen.
17 And Abessa the son of Saruia helped him and smote the Philistine, and slew him. Then the men of David swore, saying, Thou shalt not any longer go out with us to battle, and thou shalt not quench the lamp of Israel.
Da kam ihm Serujas Sohn Abisai zu Hilfe. Und er schlug den Philister tot. Damals beschworen Davids Leute ihn: "Du darfst nicht mehr mit uns in den Kampf ziehen, daß du nicht Israels Leuchte verlöschest!"
18 And after this there was a battle again with the Philistines in Geth: then Sebocha the Astatothite slew Seph of the progeny of Rapha.
Hernach war wieder Krieg zu Gob mit den Philistern. Damals schlug der Chusatiter Sibkai den Saph von den Kindern des Akis.
19 And there was a battle in Rom with the Philistines; and Eleanan son of Ariorgim the Bethleemite slew Goliath the Gittite; and the staff of his spear [was] as a weaver's beam.
Nochmals war ein Kampf mit den Philistern zu Gob. Da schlug Jairs Sohn Elchanan, ein Weber aus Bethlehem, den Gatiter Goliat, dessen Speerschaft einem Weberbaume glich.
20 And there was yet a battle in Geth: and there was a man of stature, and the fingers of his hands and the toes of his feet [were] six on each, four and twenty in number: and he also was born to Rapha.
Nochmals war ein Kampf bei Gat. Da war ein Kriegsmann, der je sechs Finger an den Händen und je sechs Zehen an den Füßen hatte, zusammen vierundzwanzig, und der ebenfalls von Akis stammte.
21 And he defied Israel, and Jonathan son of Semei brother of David, smote him.
Er höhnte Israel. Da schlug ihn Jonatan, der Sohn Simis, des Bruders Davids.
22 These four were born descendants of the giants in Geth, the family of Rapha; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
Diese Vier stammten von Akis zu Gat ab, und sie fielen durch Davids und seiner Diener Hand.
