Kings IV 4

1 And one of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisaie, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant feared the Lord: and the creditor is come to take my two sons to be his servants.

১একদিন ভাববাদীদের সন্তানদের মধ্যে এক জনের স্ত্রী কেঁদে ইলীশায়কে বলল, “আপনার দাস আমার স্বামী মারা গেছেন; আপনি জানেন, আপনার দাস সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় করতেন; এখন মহাজন আমার দুই ছেলেকে তার দাস বানাবার জন্য নিয়ে যেতে এসেছে।”

2 And Elisaie said, What shall I do for thee? tell me what thou hast in the house. And she said, Thy servant has nothing in the house, except oil wherewith I anoint myself.

২ইলীশায় তাকে বললেন, “আমি তোমার জন্য কি করতে পারি? বল দেখি, তোমার ঘরে কি আছে?” সে বলল, “একবাটি তেল ছাড়া আপনার দাসীর আর কিছু নেই।”

3 And he said to her, Go, borrow for thyself vessels without of all thy neighbours, [even] empty vessels; borrow not a few.

৩তখন তিনি বললেন, “যাও, তুমি বাইরে গিয়ে তোমার সমস্ত প্রতিবেশীদের কাছ থেকে খালি পাত্র চেয়ে আন, মাত্র অল্প কয়েকটি আনবে না।

4 And thou shalt go in and shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and thou shalt pour forth into these vessels, and remove that which is filled.

৪তারপর তুমি ও তোমার ছেলেরা ঘরে ঢুকে দরজা বন্ধ করে দেবে এবং সেই পাত্রতে তেল ঢালবে; আর একটা করে পাত্র ভর্তি হলে পর সেটা সরিয়ে রাখবে।”

5 And she departed from him, and shut the door upon herself and upon her sons: they brought the vessels near to her, and she poured in until the vessels were filled.

৫পরে সেই স্ত্রীলোকটী তাঁর কাছ থেকে চলে গেল, আর সে ও তার ছেলেরা গৃহে ঢুকে দরজা বন্ধ করে দিল; তারা বার বার পাত্র আনতে লাগল এবং সে তেল ঢালতেই থাকল।

6 And she said to her sons, Bring me yet a vessel. And they said to her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

৬সব পাত্র ভরে গেলে পর সে তার ছেলেকে বলল, “আরো পাত্র নিয়ে এস।” ছেলেটি বলল, “আর পাত্র নেই।” তখন তেল পড়া বন্ধ হয়ে গেল।

7 And she came and told the man of God: and Elisaie said, Go, and sell the oil, and thou shalt pay thy debts, and thou and thy sons shall live of the remaining oil.

৭পরে সে গিয়ে ঈশ্বরের লোককে খবর দিল। তিনি বললেন, “যাও, সেই তেল বিক্রি করে তোমার দেনা শোধ করে দাও এবং যা বাকি থাকবে তা দিয়ে তুমি ও তোমার ছেলেরা দিন কাটাও”।

8 And a day came, when Elisaie passed over to Soman, and [there was] a great lady there, and she constrained him to eat bread: and it came to pass as often as he went into [the city, that] he turned aside to eat there.

৮একদিন ইলীশায় শূনেমে যান, সেখানে একজন ধনী মহিলা ছিলেন; তিনি তাঁকে আগ্রহ সহকারে খাওয়ার জন্য নিমন্ত্রণ করলেন। পরে যতবার তিনি সেই পথ দিয়ে যেতেন, ততবারই সেই বাড়িতে খাওয়া দাওয়া করবার জন্য যেতেন।

9 And the woman said to her husband, See now, I know that this [is] a holy man of God who comes over continually to us.

৯আর সেই মহিলা তাঁর স্বামীকে বললেন, “দেখ, আমি বুঝতে পেরেছি যে, এই যে ব্যক্তি আমাদের কাছ দিয়ে যখন তখন যাতাযাত করেন, তিনি ঈশ্বরের একজন পবিত্র লোক।

10 Let us now make for him an upper chamber, a small place; and let us put there for him a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall come to pass that when he comes in to us, he shall turn in thither.

১০অনুরোধ করি, এস, আমরা ছাদের উপরে একটা ছোট ঘর তৈরী করি এবং তার মধ্যে তাঁর জন্য একটা খাট, একটা টেবিল, একটা চেয়ার ও একটা বাতিদান রাখি; তাহলে তিনি আমাদের কাছে আসলে ওখানে থাকতে পারবেন।”

11 And a day came, and he went in thither, and turned aside into the upper chamber, and lay there.

১১একদিন ইলীশায় সেখানে এসে সেই উপরের কুঠরীতে গিয়ে শুয়ে থাকলেন।

12 And he said to Giezi his servant, Call me this Somanite. and he called her, and she stood before him.

১২পরে তিনি তাঁর চাকর গেহসিকে বললেন, “তুমি ঐ শূনেমীয় স্ত্রীলোকটীকে ডাক।” সে তাঁকে ডাকলে স্ত্রীলোকটী এসে তাঁর সামনে দাঁড়ালেন।

13 And he said to him, Say now to her, Behold, thou hast taken all this trouble for us; what should I do for thee? Hast thou any request [to make] to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she said, I dwell in the midst of my people.

১৩তখন ইলীশায় গেহসিকে বললেন, “ওঁনাকে বল, ‘দেখুন, আমাদের জন্য এত চিন্তা করলেন, এখন আমরা আপনার জন্য কি করতে পারি? রাজা বা সেনাপতির কাছে আপনার কি কোনো অনুরোধ আছে’?” উত্তরে তিনি বললেন, “আমি আমার নিজের লোকদের মধ্যে বসবাস করছি।”

14 And he said to Giezi, What must we do for her? and Giezi his servant said, Indeed she has no son, and her husband [is] old.

১৪পরে ইলীশায় বললেন, “তবে তাঁর জন্য কি করতে হবে?” গেহসি বলল, “নিশ্চয়ই তাঁর কোন ছেলে নেই, স্বামীও বুড়ো হয়ে গেছেন।”

15 And he called her, and she stood by the door.

১৫ইলীশায় বললেন, “তাঁকে ডাক,” পরে তাঁকে ডাকলে তিনি এসে দরজার কাছে দাঁড়ালেন।

16 And Elisaie said to her, At this time [next year], as the season [is], thou [shalt be] alive, and embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, do not lie to thy servant.

১৬তখন ইলীশায় বললেন, “আগামী বছরের এই দিনের আপনার কোলে একটা ছেলে থাকবে।” কিন্তু তিনি বললেন, “না; হে প্রভু, হে ঈশ্বরের লোক, আপনার দাসীকে মিথ্যা কথা বলবেন না।”

17 And the woman conceived, and bore a son at the very time, as the season was, being alive, as Elisaie said to her.

১৭পরে ইলীশায়ের বাক্য অনুসারে সেই স্ত্রীলোকটী গর্ভবতী হয়ে সেই একই দিন উপস্থিত হলে তিনি ছেলের জন্ম দিলেন।

18 And the child grew: and it came to pass when he went out to his father to the reapers,

১৮ছেলেটি বড় হওয়ার পর একদিন তার বাবা যখন ফসল কাটবার লোকদের সঙ্গে ছিলেন, তখন সে তার বাবার কাছে গেল।

19 that he said to his father, My head, my head. and [his father] said to a servant, carry him to his mother.

১৯পরে সে বাবাকে বলল, “আমার মাথা, আমার মাথা।” তার বাবা একজন চাকরকে বললেন, “তুমি ওকে তুলে ওর মায়ের কাছে নিয়ে যাও।”

20 And he carried him to his mother, and he lay upon her knees till noon, and died.

২০পরে সে তাকে তুলে নিয়ে মায়ের কাছে আনলে ছেলেটি দুপুর পর্যন্ত মায়ের কোলে বসে থাকল, তারপর মারা গেল।

21 And she carried him up and laid him on the bed of the man of god; and she shut the door upon him, and went out.

২১তখন মা উপরে গিয়ে ঈশ্বরের লোকের বিছানায় তাকে শুইয়ে দিয়ে দরজা বন্ধ করে বেরিয়ে এলেন।

22 And she called her husband, and said, Send now for me one of the young men, and one of the asses, and I will ride quickly to the man of God, and return.

২২তারপর তাঁর স্বামীকে ডেকে বললেন, “অনুরোধ করি, তুমি একজন চাকর ও একটা গর্দ্দভী আমার কাছে পাঠিয়ে দাও, আমি তাড়াতাড়ি ঈশ্বরের লোকের কাছে গিয়ে ফিরে আসব।”

23 And he said, Why art thou going to him to-day? It is neither new moon, nor the Sabbath. And she said, [It is] well.

২৩তিনি বললেন, “তাঁর কাছে আজকে যাবে কেন? আজকে তো অমাবস্যাও নয়, বিশ্রামবারও নয়।” মহিলাটি বললেন, “মঙ্গল হবে।”

24 And she saddled the ass, and said to her servant, Be quick, proceed: spare not on my account to ride, unless I shall tell thee. Go, and thou shalt proceed, and come to the man of God to mount Carmel.

২৪তারপর তিনি গর্দ্দভী সাজিয়ে তাঁর চাকরকে বললেন, “গর্দ্দভী চালিয়ে চল, আমি না বললে আস্তে চালাবে না।”

25 And she rode and came to the man of God to the mountain: and it came to pass when Elisaie saw her coming, that he said to Giezi his servant, See now, that Somanite comes.

২৫পরে তিনি কর্মিল পর্বতে ঈশ্বরের লোকের কাছে চললেন। তখন তাঁকে দূর থেকে দেখে ঈশ্বরের লোক তাঁর চাকর গেহসিকে বললেন, “দেখ, সেই শূনেমীয়া।

26 Now run to meet her, and thou shalt say, [Is it] well with thee? [is it] well with thy husband? [is it] well with the child? and she said, [It is] well.

২৬তুমি দৌড়ে তাঁর কাছে গিয়ে তাঁর সঙ্গে দেখা করে জিজ্ঞাসা কর যে, ‘আপনি, আপনার স্বামী ও আপনার ছেলে সবাই ঠিক আছেন’?” উত্তরে তিনি বললেন, “সবাই ভাল আছে।”

27 And she came to Elisaie to the mountain, and laid hold of his feet; and Giezi drew near to thrust her away. And Elisaie said, Let her alone, for her soul [is] much grieved in her, and the Lord has hidden [it] from me, and has not told [it] me.

২৭পরে পর্বতে ঈশ্বরের লোকের কাছে উপস্থিত হয়ে তিনি তাঁর পা জড়িয়ে ধরলেন; তাতে গেহসি তাঁকে সরিয়ে দেবার জন্য কাছে আসলে ঈশ্বরের লোক বললেন, “ওঁনাকে থাকতে দাও। ওঁনার মনে খুব কষ্ট হয়েছে, আর সদাপ্রভু আমার কাছ থেকে তা লুকিয়ে রেখেছেন, আমাকে জানান নি।”

28 And she said, Did I ask a son of my lord? For did I not say, Do not deal deceitfully with me?

২৮তখন স্ত্রীলোকটী বললেন, “আমার প্রভুর কাছে আমি কি ছেলে চেয়েছিলাম? আমি কি আপনাকে বলি নি যে, আমার সাথে ছলনা করবেন না?”

29 And Elisaie said to Giezi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thy hand, and go: if thou meet any man, thou shalt not salute him, and if a man salute thee thou shalt not answer him: and thou shalt lay my staff on the child's face.

২৯তখন ইলীশায় গেহসিকে বললেন, “কোমর বেঁধে নাও, আমার এই লাঠিটি হাতে নিয়ে যাও; কারও সঙ্গে দেখা হলে তাকে শুভেচ্ছা জানাবে না এবং কেউ শুভেচ্ছা জানালে তার উত্তরও দেবে না; পরে আমার এই লাঠিটি ছেলেটির মুখের উপর রেখে দিয়ো।”

30 And the mother of the child said, [As] the Lord lives and [as] thy soul lives, I will not leave thee. And Elisaie arose, and went after her.

৩০তখন ছেলেটির মা বললেন, “জীবন্ত সদাপ্রভুর ও আপনার প্রাণের দিব্যি, আমি আপনাকে ছাড়ব না।” কাজেই ইলীশায় উঠে তাঁর পিছনে পিছনে চললেন।

31 And Giezi went on before her, and laid his staff on the child's face: but there was neither voice nor any hearing. So he returned to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked.

৩১ইতিমধ্যে গেহসি তাঁদের আগে গিয়ে ছেলেটির মুখের উপর লাঠিটি রাখল, কিন্তু কোনো শব্দ হল না, কোনো সাড়াও পাওয়া গেল না। তাই গেহসি ইলীশায়ের সঙ্গে দেখা করবার জন্য ফিরে গিয়ে তাঁকে বলল, “ছেলেটি জাগে নি।”

32 And Elisaie went into the house, and, behold, the dead child was laid upon his bed.

৩২পরে ইলীশায় সেই গৃহে এসে দেখলেন তাঁরই বিছানার উপর মৃত ছেলেটি শোয়ানো রয়েছে।

33 And Elisaie went into the house, and shut the door upon themselves, the two, and prayed to the Lord.

৩৩তখন তিনি গৃহে ঢুকলেন এবং তাদের দুজনকে বাইরে রেখে দরজা বন্ধ করে সদাপ্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করলেন।

34 And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands; and bowed himself upon him, and the flesh of the child grew warm.

৩৪তারপর তিনি বিছানার উপর উঠে ছেলেটির উপরে শুলেন; তিনি তার মুখের উপরে নিজের মুখ, চোখের উপরে চোখ এবং হাতের উপরে হাত রেখে তার উপর নিজে লম্বা হয়ে শুলেন; তাতে ছেলেটির গা গরম হয়ে উঠল।

35 And he returned, and walked up and down in the house: and he went up, and bowed himself on the child seven times; and the child opened his eyes.

৩৫তারপর তিনি ফিরে এসে ঘরের মধ্যে পায়চারি করতে লাগলেন, আবার উঠে তার উপর লম্বা হয়ে শুলেন; তাতে ছেলেটি সাতবার হাঁচি দিয়ে চোখ খুলল।

36 And Elisaie cried out to Giezi, and said, Call this Somanite. So he called her, and she came in to him: and Elisaie said, Take thy son.

৩৬তখন তিনি গেহসিকে ডেকে বললেন, “ঐ শূনেমীয়াকে ডাক।” সে তাঁকে ডাকলে স্ত্রীলোকটী তাঁর কাছে আসলেন। ইলীশায় বললেন, “আপনার ছেলেকে তুলে নিন।”

37 And the woman went in, and fell at his feet, and did obeisance [bowing] to the ground; and she took her son, and went out.

৩৭তখন সেই স্ত্রীলোকটী কাছে গিয়ে তাঁর পায়ে পড়ে মাটিতে মাথা ঠেকিয়ে তাঁকে প্রণাম করলেন এবং তাঁর ছেলেকে তুলে নিয়ে তিনি বেরিয়ে গেলেন।

38 And Elisaie returned to Galgala: and a famine [was] in the land; and the sons of the prophets sat before him: and Elisaie said to his servant, Set on the great pot, and boil pottage for the sons of the prophets.

৩৮ইলীশায় আবার গিল্‌গলে ফিরে গেলেন। তখন দেশে দূর্ভিক্ষ চলছিল। তখন ভাববাদীদের সন্তানেরা তাঁর সঙ্গে বসে ছিল; তিনি তাঁর চাকরকে আদেশ দিলেন, “বড় হাঁড়ি চাপিয়ে এদের জন্য কিছু তরকারি রান্না কর।”

39 And he went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a vine in the field, and gathered of it wild gourds, his garment full; and he cast it into the caldron of pottage, for they knew [them] not.

৩৯তখন তাদের একজন তরকারী সংগ্রহ করতে মাঠে গিয়ে বুনো শশার লতা দেখতে পেয়ে তার বুনো ফল কাপড় ভর্তি করে এনে তা কেটে তরকারির হাঁড়িতে দিল; কিন্তু সেগুলো কি তা কারোর জানা ছিল না।

40 And he poured it out for the men to eat: and it came to pass, when they were eating of the pottage, that lo! they cried out, and said, [There is] death in the pot, O man of God. And they could not eat.

৪০পরে লোকদের খেতে দেওয়ার জন্য ঢালা হলে তারা সেই তরকারী খেতে গিয়ে চিৎকার করে বলল, “হে ঈশ্বরের লোক, হাঁড়ির মধ্যে মৃত্যু!” তারা তা খেতে পারল না।

41 And he said, Take meal, and cast it into the pot. And Elisaie said to his servant Giezi, Pour out for the people, and let them eat. And there was no longer there any hurtful thing in the pot.

৪১তখন তিনি বললেন, “কিছু ময়দা নিয়ে এস।” তখন তিনি হাঁড়ির মধ্যে তা ফেলে দিয়ে বললেন, “লোকেদের জন্য ঢেলে দাও, তারা খেয়ে দেখুক।” এতে খারাপ কিছু হাঁড়ির মধ্যে থাকলো না।

42 And there came a man over from Baetharisa, and brought to the man of God twenty barley loaves and cakes of figs, of the first-fruits. And he said, Give to the people, and let them eat.

৪২আর বাল্‌-শালিশা থেকে একজন লোক ঈশ্বরের লোকের জন্য প্রথমে কাটা ফসল থেকে কুড়িটা যবের রুটি সেঁকে নিয়ে আসল, আর তার সঙ্গে নিয়ে আসল কিছু নতুন শস্যের শীষ। আর তিনি বললেন, “এগুলো লোকদের খেতে দাও।”

43 And his servant said, Why should I set this before a hundred men? and he said, Give to the people, and let them eat; for thus saith the Lord, They shall eat and leave.

৪৩তখন তাঁর পরিচারক বলল, “আমি কি একশো জন লোককে এটি পরিবেশন করব?” কিন্তু ইলীশায় বললেন, “এই লোকদের খেতে দাও; কারণ সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, ‘তারা খাবে ও কিছু বাকীও থাকবে’।”

44 And they ate and left, according to the word of the Lord.

৪৪অতএব তার দাস তাদের সামনে তা রাখল, আর সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য অনুযায়ী তারা খেল আবার কিছু বাকীও রেখে দিল।
