Chronicles II 28
1 Achaz was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord, as David his father.
Achaz war sechsundzwanzig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte sechzehn Jahre in Jerusalem. Er tat aber nicht, was dem Herrn gefiel, wie sein Ahn David.
2 But he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, for he made graven images.
Er wandelte auf den Wegen der Könige Israels. Dazu machte er Gußbilder für die Baale.
3 And [he sacrificed] to their idols in the valley of Benennom, and passed his children through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.
Auch räucherte er im Tale Benhinnom und führte seine Söhne durchs Feuer, gemäß den Greueln der Heiden, die der Herr vor den Israeliten vertrieben hatte.
4 And he burnt incense upon the high places, and upon the roofs, and under every shady tree.
Er opferte und räucherte auf den Höhen und Hügeln und unter jedem grünen Baume.
5 And the Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and he smote him, and took captive of them a great band of prisoners, and carried him to Damascus. Also [God] delivered him into the hands of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.
Da gab ihn der Herr, sein Gott, in die Hand des Königs der Aramäer. Sie schlugen ihn, machten von ihm viele Gefangene und brachten sie nach Damaskus. Auch ward er in die Hand des Königs von Israel gegeben. Dieser schlug ihn gewaltig.
6 And Phakee the son of Romelias king of Israel, slew in Juda in one day a hundred and twenty thousand mighty men; because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.
Pekach, Remaljahus Sohn, tötete in Juda an einem Tage 120.000 tapfere Männer; denn sie hatten den Herrn, ihrer Väter Gott, verlassen.
7 And Zechri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maasias the king's son, and Ezrican the chief of his house, and Elcana the king's deputy.
Der ephraimitische Held Zikri aber tötete den Königssohn Maasejahu, den Hausvorsteher Azrikam und Elkana, den zweiten nach dem König.
8 And the children of Israel took captive of their brethren three hundred thousand, women, and sons, and daughters, and they spoiled them of much property, and brought the spoils to Samaria.
Und die Israeliten führten von ihren Brüdern 200.000 ab, darunter Weiber, Söhne und Töchter; auch machten sie bei ihnen große Beute. Die Beute brachten sie nach Samaria.
9 And there was there a prophet of the Lord, his name [was] Oded: and he went out to meet the host that were coming to Samaria, and said to them, Behold, the wrath of the Lord God of your fathers [is] upon Juda, and he has delivered them into your hands, and ye have slain them in wrath, and it has reached even to heaven.
Dort aber war ein Prophet des Herrn, namens Oded. Er ging dem Heer entgegen, das nach Samaria zurückkam, und sprach zu ihnen: "Durch des Herrn, des Gottes eurer Väter, Zorn über Juda hat er sie in eure Hand gegeben, so daß ihr unter ihnen getötet habt mit einer Wut, die bis zum Himmel reicht.
10 And now ye talk of keeping the children of Juda and Jerusalem for servants and handmaidens. Lo, am I not with you to testify for the Lord your God?
Nun denkt ihr daran, die Söhne Judas und Jerusalems für euch zu Sklaven und zu Sklavinnen zu machen. Seid denn nur ihr schuldlos vor dem Herrn, eurem Gott?
11 And now hearken to me, and restore the prisoners of your brethren whom ye have taken: for the fierce anger of the Lord [is] upon you.
Gebt mir nun Gehör und schickt die Gefangenen heim, die ihr von euren Brüdern weggeführt habt! Sonst käme des Herrn grimmer Zorn auf euch."
12 And the chiefs of the sons of Ephraim rose up, Udias the son of Joanas, and Barachias the son of Mosolamoth, and Ezekias the son of Sellem, and Amasias the son of Eldai, against those that came from the war,
Auch einige von den Häuptern der Söhne Ephraims, Azarjahu, des Jochanan Sohn, Berekjahu, Mesillemots Sohn, Chizkiahu, Sallums Sohn, und Amasa, Chadlais Sohn, traten den vom Feldzug Heimkehrenden entgegen.
13 and said to them, Ye shall not bring in hither the prisoners to us, for whereas sin against the Lord [is] upon us, ye mean to add to our sins, and to our trespass: for our sin [is] great, and the fierce anger of the Lord [is] upon Israel.
Sie sprachen zu ihnen: "Bringt die Gefangenen nicht hierher! Sonst fügt ihr zu unserer Verschuldung gegen den Herrn eine neue hinzu zu unseren Sünden und Schulden. Groß würde die Schuld für uns und die Zornesglut über Israel."
14 So the warriors left the prisoners and the spoils before the princes and all the congregation.
Da gab die Vorhut in Gegenwart der Obersten und der ganzen Gemeinde die Gefangenen samt der Beute frei.
15 And the men who were called by name rose up, and took hold of the prisoners, and clothed all the naked from the spoils, and gave them garments and shoes, and gave them [food] to eat, and [oil] to anoint themselves [with], and they helped also every one that was weak with asses, and placed them in Jericho, the city of palm-trees, with their brethren; and they returned to Samaria.
Und die Männer, die mit Namen genannt sind, standen auf und nahmen sich der Gefangenen an. Sie kleideten auch aus der Beute alle Nackten unter ihnen, gaben ihnen Kleider und Schuhe und zu essen und zu trinken, salbten sie und führten alle Müden auf Eseln und brachten sie nach der Palmenstadt Jericho zu ihren Brüdern. Dann kehrten sie nach Samaria zurück.
16 At that time king Achaz sent to the king of Assyria to help him, and on this occasion,
In jener Zeit schickte der König Achaz zu dem König Assyriens, daß er ihm helfe.
17 because the Idumeans had attacked [him], and smitten Juda, and taken a number of prisoners.
Denn wieder kamen die Edomiter, schlugen Juda und machten Gefangene.
18 Also the Philistines had made an attack on the cities of the plain country, and the cities of the south of Juda, and taken Baethsamys, and [the things in the house of the Lord, and the things in the house of the king, and of the princes: and they gave to the king] Aelon, and Galero, and Socho and her villages, and Thamna and her villages, and Gamzo and her villages: and they dwelt there.
Auch die Philister fielen in die Städte der Niederung und in das Südland von Juda ein und eroberten Betsemes, Ajjalon, Gederot, sowie Soko, Timna und Gimzo je mit ihren Tochterorten und siedelten darin.
19 For the Lord humbled Juda because of Achaz king of Juda, because he grievously departed from the Lord.
Denn der Herr demütigte Juda wegen Achaz, des Königs von Israel, weil er Juda zügellos gemacht hatte und gegen den Herrn treulos geworden war.
20 And there came against him Thalgaphellasar king of Assyria, and he afflicted him.
Da kam der Assyrerkönig Tiglat-Pilneser zu ihm. Aber er bedrängte ihn, hatte er ihm doch nicht geholfen.
21 And Achaz took the things [that were] in the house of the Lord, and the things in the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave them to the king of Assyria: but he was no help to him,
Achaz hatte zwar das Haus des Herrn, das Königshaus und die Häuser der Fürsten geleert und er gab es dem Assyrerkönig. Aber Hilfe ward ihm nicht zuteil.
22 but only [troubled him] in his affliction: and he departed yet more from the Lord, and king Achaz said,
Aber zu der Zeit, wo man ihn bedrängte, ward er dem Herrn noch mehr untreu. So war König Achaz.
23 I will seek after the gods of Damascus that smite me. And he said, Forasmuch as the gods of the king of Syria themselves strengthen them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, and they will help me. But they became a stumbling-block to him, and to all Israel.
Er opferte den damaszenischen Göttern, die ihn besiegt hatten. Er sprach: "Die Götter der Aramäerkönige halfen ihnen. Auch ich will ihnen opfern, und sie werden mir helfen." Aber sie waren ihm und ganz Israel nur zum Falle.
24 And Achaz removed the vessels of the house of the Lord, and cut them in pieces, and shut the doors of the house of the Lord, and made to himself altars in every corner in Jerusalem:
Achaz raffte nun die Geräte des Gotteshauses zusammen, zerschlug des Gotteshauses Geräte, schloß die Türen des Gotteshauses und machte sich an jeder Ecke Jerusalems Altäre.
25 and in each several city in Juda he made high places to burn incense to strange gods: and they provoked the Lord God of their fathers.
Auch in jeder Stadt Judas machte er Höhen, um anderen Göttern zu räuchern. So kränkte er den Herrn, den Gott seiner Väter.
26 And the rest of his acts, and his deeds, the first and the last, behold, [they are] written in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel.
Der Rest der Geschichte, all seine Handlungen, die früheren und späteren, sind im Buche der Könige Judas und Israels aufgezeichnet.
27 And Achaz slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David; for they did not bring him into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Ezekias his son reigned in his stead.
Achaz legte sich zu seinen Vätern. Man begrub ihn in der Stadt zu Jerusalem. Denn man brachte ihn nicht in die Gräber der Könige Israels. Sein Sohn Ezechias ward König an seiner Statt.
