< 2 Chronicles 29 >

1 Hezekiah became king when he was twenty-five years old; and he was king in Jerusalem for twenty-nine years; and his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.
Naʻe uofulu taʻu mo e taʻu ʻe nima ʻae motuʻa ʻo Hesekaia ʻi heʻene kamata pule, pea naʻe pule ia ʻi he taʻu ʻe uofulu ma hiva ʻi Selūsalema. Pea ko e hingoa ʻo ʻene faʻē ko ʻApisa ko e ʻofefine ʻo Sakalia.
2 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done.
Pea naʻe fai lelei ʻe ia ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova, ʻo fakatatau ki he meʻa kotoa pē naʻe fai ʻe Tevita ko ʻene tamai.
3 In the first year of his rule, in the first month, opening the doors of the Lord's house, he made them strong.
ʻI he ʻuluaki taʻu ʻo ʻene pule, ʻi he ʻuluaki māhina, naʻa ne toʻo ʻae ngaahi matapā ʻoe fale ʻo Sihova, ʻo ne ngaohi ia ke lelei.
4 And he sent for the priests and the Levites, and got them together in the wide place on the east side,
Pea ne ʻomi ʻae kau taulaʻeiki mo e kau Livai, ʻo ne tānaki ʻakinautolu ke fakataha ki he hala fakahahake.
5 And said to them, Give ear to me, O Levites: now make yourselves holy, and make holy the house of the Lord, the God of your fathers, and take away everything unclean from the holy place.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, ʻae kau Livai, “Ke mou tokanga kiate au, ko eni mou fakamaʻa ʻakimoutolu, pea fakamaʻa ʻae fale ʻo Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo hoʻomou ngaahi tamai, pea mou fetuku atu ʻae ngaahi meʻa ʻuli mei he potu māʻoniʻoni.
6 For our fathers have done evil, sinning in the eyes of the Lord our God, and have given him up, turning away their faces from the house of the Lord, and turning their backs on him.
He naʻe fai hala ʻetau ngaahi tamai, pea fai ʻaia naʻe kovi ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua, pea naʻa nau liʻaki ia, pea naʻe tafoki honau mata mei he fale nofoʻanga ʻo Sihova, pea fulituʻa ki ai.
7 The doors of his house have been shut and the lights put out; no perfumes have been burned or offerings made to the God of Israel in his holy place.
Pea kuo nau tāpuni ʻae ngaahi matapā ʻoe hūʻanga fale fakamalumalu, pea tāmateʻi ʻae ngaahi maama, pea naʻe ʻikai tutu ʻae meʻa namu kakala pe ʻatu ʻae ngaahi feilaulau tutu ʻi he potu māʻoniʻoni ki he ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli.
8 And so the wrath of the Lord has come on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has given them up to be a cause of fear and wonder and shame, as your eyes have seen.
Ko ia naʻe tō ai ʻae houhau ʻa Sihova ki Siuta mo Selūsalema, pea naʻa ne tukuange ʻakinautolu ki he mamahi, mo e fakaofoofo, mo e fakaʻiseʻisa, ʻo hangē ko ia ʻoku mou mamata ai ʻaki homou mata.
9 For see, our fathers have been put to death with the sword, and our sons and daughters and wives have been taken away prisoners because of this.
Vakai, he kuo tō ʻetau ngaahi tamai ʻi he heletā, pea ʻoku nofo pōpula ʻi he meʻa ni hotau ngaahi foha mo hotau ngaahi ʻofefine mo hotau ngaahi uaifi.
10 Now it is my purpose to make an agreement with the Lord, the God of Israel, so that the heat of his wrath may be turned away from us.
Pea ko eni, ʻoku ʻi hoku loto ia ke fai ʻae fuakava kia Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, koeʻuhi ke tafoki hono houhau lahi meiate kitautolu.
11 My sons, take care now: for you have been marked out by the Lord to come before him and to be his servants, burning offerings to him.
‌ʻE hoku ngaahi foha, ʻoua eni naʻa mou taʻetokanga: he kuo fili ʻakimoutolu ʻe Sihova ke tuʻu ʻi hono ʻao, ke tauhi ia, pea ke mou ngāue kiate ia, pea tutu ʻae meʻa namu kakala.”
12 Then the Levites took their places; Mahath, the son of Amasai, and Joel, the son of Azariah, among the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish, the son of Abdi, and Azariah, the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah, the son of Zimmah, and Eden, the son of Joah;
Pea naʻe tuʻu hake ai ʻae kau Livai, ko Mehati ko e foha ʻo ʻAmasai, mo Soeli ko e foha ʻo ʻAsalia, ʻi he ngaahi foha ʻoe kau Kohate: pea ʻi he ngaahi foha ʻo Melali, ko Kisi ko e foha ʻo ʻApiti, mo ʻAsalia ko e foha ʻo Sehalili: pea ʻi he kakai Kesoni: ko Soa ko e foha ʻo Sima, mo Iteni ko e foha ʻo Soe:
13 And of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeuel; and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah;
Pea ʻi he ngaahi foha ʻo ʻIlisafani: ko Simili, mo Sieli: pea ʻi he ngaahi foha ʻo ʻAsafi: ko Sakalia, mo Matania:
14 And of the sons of Heman, Jehuel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel.
Pea ʻi he ngaahi foha ʻo Hemani: ko Sehieli, mo Simi: pea ʻi he ngaahi foha ʻo Situtuni: ko Simaia, mo ʻUsili.
15 And they got their brothers together and made themselves holy, and went in, as the king had said by the word of the Lord, to make the house of the Lord clean.
Pea naʻa nau fakakātoa honau ngaahi kāinga, pea fakamaʻa ʻakinautolu, pea haʻu, ʻo hangē ko e fekau ʻae tuʻi, ʻi he folofola ʻa Sihova, ke fakamaʻa ʻae fale ʻo Sihova.
16 And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord to make it clean, and everything unclean which was to be seen in the Temple of the Lord they took out into the outer square of the Lord's house, and the Levites got it together and took it away to the stream Kidron.
Pea naʻe hū ʻae kau taulaʻeiki ki he potu ʻi loto ʻi he fale ʻo Sihova, ke fakamaʻa ia, ʻonau fetuku mei ai ʻae ngaahi meʻa ʻuli kotoa pē naʻa nau ʻilo ʻi he faletapu ʻo Sihova ki he lotoʻā ʻoe fale ʻo Sihova. Pea naʻe ʻave ia ʻe he kau Livai, ʻo fetuku ia ki he mamaʻo ki he vaitafe ko Kitiloni.
17 On the first day of the first month the work of making the house holy was started, and on the eighth day they came to the covered way of the Lord; in eight days they made the Lord's house holy, and on the sixteenth day of the first month the work was done.
Pea naʻa nau kamata ʻi he ʻuluaki ʻaho ʻoe ʻuluaki māhina ke fakamaʻa, pea ʻi hono valu ʻoe ʻaho ʻoe māhina naʻa nau hoko ki he hūʻanga fale fakamalumalu ʻo Sihova: ko ia naʻa nau fakamaʻa ʻae fale ʻo Sihova ʻi he ʻaho ʻe valu: pea ʻi hono ʻaho ʻe hongofulu ma ono ʻi he ʻuluaki māhina naʻa nau fakaʻosi.
18 Then they went in to King Hezekiah and said, We have made all the house of the Lord clean, as well as the altar of burned offerings with all its vessels, and the table for the holy bread, with all its vessels.
Pea naʻa nau ʻalu ai kia Hesekaia ko e tuʻi, ʻo pehē, “Kuo mau fakamaʻa ʻae potu kotoa pē ʻoe fale ʻo Sihova, mo e feilaulauʻanga ʻoe meʻa tutu mo hono ngaahi ipu kotoa pē ʻo ia, mo e palepale ʻoe mā ʻoe ʻao, mo hono ngaahi ipu kotoa pē ʻo ia.
19 And all the vessels which were turned out by King Ahaz in his sin while he was king, we have put in order and made holy, and now they are in their places before the altar of the Lord.
Pea koeʻuhi ko e ngaahi ipu kotoa pē, ʻaia naʻe liʻaki ʻe he tuʻi ko ʻEhapi ʻi heʻene pule, ʻi heʻene angahala, kuo ʻosi ʻemau teuʻi mo fakatapui, pea vakai, ʻoku nau ʻi he muʻa feilaulauʻanga ʻo Sihova.”
20 Then Hezekiah the king got up early, and got together the great men of the town, and went up to the house of the Lord.
Pea naʻe tuʻu hengihengi hake ʻa Hesekaia ko e tuʻi, ʻo ne tānaki ke fakataha ʻae kau pule ʻoe kolo, pea ʻalu ia ki he fale ʻo Sihova.
21 And they took with them seven oxen and seven male sheep and seven lambs and seven he-goats as a sin-offering for the kingdom and for the holy house and for Judah. And he gave orders to the sons of Aaron, the priests, that these were to be offered on the altar of the Lord.
Pea naʻa nau ʻomi ʻae fanga pulu ʻe fitu, mo e sipitangata ʻe fitu, mo e lami ʻe fitu, mo e kosi tangata ʻe fitu, ko e feilaulau ʻi he angahala ʻae puleʻanga, pea maʻae fale nofoʻanga, pea mo Siuta. Pea naʻe fekau ia ki he kau taulaʻeiki ko e ngaahi foha ʻo ʻElone ke ʻatu ia ʻi he funga feilaulauʻanga ʻo Sihova.
22 So they put the oxen to death and their blood was given to the priests to be drained out against the altar; then they put the male sheep to death, draining out their blood against the altar, and they put the lambs to death, draining out their blood against the altar.
Ko ia naʻa nau tāmateʻi ʻae fanga pulu, pea naʻe fakatali ʻae toto ʻe he kau taulaʻeiki, pea nau luluku ʻaki ʻae feilaulauʻanga: pea pehē pe, hili ʻenau tāmateʻi ʻae fanga sipitangata, naʻa nau luluku ʻaki ʻae toto ʻae feilaulauʻanga: pea naʻa nau tāmateʻi ʻae fanga lami foki, pea nau luluku ʻae toto ki he feilaulauʻanga.
23 Then they took the he-goats for the sin-offering, placing them before the king and the meeting of the people, and they put their hands on them:
Pea naʻa nau ʻomi kituʻa ʻae fanga kosi tangata ko e feilaulau maʻae angahala ki he ʻao ʻoe tuʻi mo e fakataha; pea naʻa nau hilifaki honau nima ki ai.
24 And the priests put them to death, and made a sin-offering with their blood on the altar, to take away the sin of all Israel: for the king gave orders that the burned offering and the sin-offering were for all Israel.
Pea naʻe tāmateʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe he kau taulaʻeiki, pea fai ʻae fakalelei ʻaki ʻa honau toto ʻi he funga ʻoe feilaulauʻanga, ke fai ai ʻae fakalelei koeʻuhi ko ʻIsileli kotoa pē: he naʻe fekau ʻe he tuʻi ke fai ʻae feilaulau tutu mo e feilaulau maʻae angahala maʻa ʻIsileli kotoa pē.
25 Then he put the Levites in their places in the house of the Lord, with brass and corded instruments of music as ordered by David and Gad, the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for the order was the Lord's, given by his prophets.
Pea naʻa ne fokotuʻu ʻae kau Livai he fale ʻo Sihova mo e ngaahi meʻa pakihi, mo e ngaahi ūtete, mo e ngaahi haʻape, ʻo fakatatau ki he fekau ʻa Tevita, pea mo Kata ko e tangata kikite ʻae tuʻi, mo Netane ko e palōfita: he naʻe pehē pe ʻae fekau ʻa Sihova ʻi heʻene kau palōfita.
26 So the Levites took their places with David's instruments, and the priests with their horns.
Pea naʻe tuʻu ʻae kau Livai mo e ngaahi meʻa faiva ʻa Tevita, mo e kau taulaʻeiki mo e ngaahi meʻalea.
27 And Hezekiah gave the word for the burned offering to be offered on the altar. And when the burned offering was started, then the song of the Lord was started, with the blowing of horns and with all the instruments of David, king of Israel.
Pea naʻe fekau ʻe Hesekaia ke fai ʻae feilaulau tutu ʻi he funga ʻoe feilaulauʻanga. Pea ʻi he kamata ʻatu ʻae feilaulau tutu, naʻe kamata foki ʻae hiva kia Sihova ʻaki ʻae ngaahi meʻalea, pea ʻi he ngaahi meʻa faiva naʻe tuʻutuʻuni ʻe Tevita ko e tuʻi ʻo ʻIsileli.
28 And all the people gave worship, to the sound of songs and the blowing of horns; and this went on till the burned offering was ended.
Pea naʻe hū ʻae fakataha kotoa pē, pea hiva ʻae kau hiva, pea fakaongo ʻe he kau ifi meʻalea: pea naʻe fai ai pe ʻae meʻa ni kotoa pē ke ʻoua ke ʻosi ʻae feilaulau tutu.
29 And at the end of the offering, the king and all who were present with him gave worship with bent heads.
Pea hili ʻenau fakaʻosi ʻae feilaulau, naʻe punou ʻae tuʻi mo kinautolu kotoa pē naʻe ʻiate ia, ʻonau hū.
30 Then King Hezekiah and the captains gave orders to the Levites to give praise to God in the words of David and Asaph the seer. And they made songs of praise with joy, and with bent heads gave worship.
Pea naʻe fekau foki ʻe Hesekaia ko e tuʻi mo e houʻeiki ki he kau Livai ke hiva mo fakafetaʻi kia Sihova ʻaki ʻae ngaahi lea ʻa Tevita, pea mo ʻAsafi ko e tangata kikite. Pea naʻa nau hiva ʻaki ʻae ngaahi fakafetaʻi ʻi he fiefia, ʻonau punou hifo honau ʻulu ʻo hū.
31 Then Hezekiah made answer and said, Now that you have given yourselves to the Lord, come near and take offerings and praise-offerings into the house of the Lord. So all the people took in offerings and praise-offerings: and those whose hearts were moved, took in burned offerings.
32 The number of burned offerings which the people took in was seventy oxen, a hundred male sheep, and two hundred lambs: all these were for burned offerings to the Lord.
Pea ko hono lau ʻoe ngaahi feilaulau tutu, ʻaia naʻe ʻomi ʻe he fakataha lahi, ko e fanga pulu ʻe fitungofulu, ko e sipitangata ʻe teau, mo e lami ʻe uangeau: ko eni kotoa pē ko e feilaulau tutu kia Sihova.
33 And the holy things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.
Pea ko e meʻa naʻe fakatapui ko e fanga pulu ʻe onongeau mo e sipi ʻe tolu afe,
34 There were not enough priests for the work of cutting up all the burned offerings; so their brothers the Levites gave them help till the work was done and the priests had made themselves holy: for the Levites were more upright in heart to make themselves holy than the priests.
Pea naʻe tokosiʻi ʻae kau taulaʻeiki, ko ia naʻe ʻikai te nau faʻa fai ke fohi ʻae feilaulau tutu kotoa pē: ko ia naʻe tokoni ai ʻakinautolu ʻe honau kāinga ko e kau Livai, ke ʻoua ke ʻosi ʻae ngāue, pea ke ʻoua ke fakamaʻa ʻa hono toe ʻoe kau taulaʻeiki: he naʻe angatonu lahi hake ʻi loto ʻae kau Livai ke fakamaʻa ʻakinautolu ʻi he kau taulaʻeiki.
35 And there was a great amount of burned offerings, with the fat of the peace-offerings and the drink offerings for every burned offering. So the work of the Lord's house was put in order.
Pea naʻe lahi ʻaupito foki ʻae ngaahi feilaulau tutu, mo e ngako ʻoe ngaahi feilaulau fakalelei, mo e feilaulau inu ʻi he feilaulau tutu kotoa pē. Ko ia naʻe teuteu lelei ʻae ngāue ʻoe fale ʻo Sihova.
36 And Hezekiah and all the people were full of joy, because God had made the people ready: for the thing was done suddenly.
Pea naʻe fiefia ʻa Hesekaia, mo e kakai kotoa pē, ko e meʻa ʻi he teuteuʻi ʻe he ʻOtua hono kakai: he naʻe fai fakafokifā pe ʻae meʻa ni.
