< 1 Samuel 2 >

1 At that time Hannah prayed: “My heart rejoices in the LORD in whom my horn is exalted. My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, for I rejoice in Your salvation.
Hannah el pre ac fahk: “LEUM GOD El nwakla insiuk ke engan; Nga arulana insewowo ke ma El orala. Nga isrun mwet lokoalok luk; Yohk engan luk ke sripen kasru lun God nu sik!
2 There is no one holy like the LORD. Indeed, there is no one besides You! And there is no Rock like our God.
Wangin sie su mutal oana LEUM GOD; Wangin sie oana El, Wangin sie mwet lango oana God lasr.
3 Do not boast so proudly, or let arrogance come from your mouth, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by Him actions are weighed.
Nikmet sifil kaskas filang; Misla liki kaskas fulat lom. Tuh LEUM GOD El sie God su etu ma nukewa, Ac El nununku orekma nukewa lun mwet uh.
4 The bows of the mighty are broken, but the feeble are equipped with strength.
Mwe pisr nutin mwet mweun ku, kaptelik, A mwet munas kapkapak ku lalos.
5 The well-fed hire themselves out for food, but the starving hunger no more. The barren woman gives birth to seven, but she who has many sons pines away.
Elos su kihp meet, Elos sukok orekma in moli ma nalos, A elos su masrinsral meet, elos tia sifil masrinsral. El su talap el oswela tulik itkosr, A el su pus tulik natu meet, tok wanginla tulik natul.
6 The LORD brings death and gives life; He brings down to Sheol and raises up. (Sheol h7585)
LEUM GOD El uniya ac El sifil akmoulyauk; El supwala mwet nu infulan misa, Ac El sifilpa folokunulosyak. (Sheol h7585)
7 The LORD sends poverty and wealth; He humbles and He exalts.
LEUM GOD El oru tuh kutu mwet uh sukasrup ac kutu kasrup. El akpusiselye kutu ac akfulatye kutu.
8 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap. He seats them among princes and bestows on them a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s, and upon them He has set the world.
El srukak mwet sukasrup liki kutkut, Ac El tulokunak mwet enenu liki nien sisi kutkut. El oru tuh elos in sie sin sie yurin mwet leum, Ac muta yorolos ke nien muta fulat. Pwelung lun faclu ma lun LEUM GOD, Ac El musaeak faclu fac.
9 He guards the steps of His faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness; for by his own strength shall no man prevail.
“El karingin moul lun mwet oaru lal, A mwet koluk elos tuhlac in lohsr uh. Sie mwet el tia ku in kutangla ke ku lal sifacna.
10 Those who oppose the LORD will be shattered. He will thunder from heaven against them. The LORD will judge the ends of the earth and will give power to His king. He will exalt the horn of His anointed.”
Mwet lokoalok lun LEUM GOD fah kunausyukla; El ac fah lainulos ke pulahl inkusrao me. LEUM GOD El ac fah nununku faclu nufon. El ac fah sang ku nu sin tokosra lal. El ac fah sang kutangla nu sin tokosra se su El sulela.”
11 Then Elkanah went home to Ramah, but the boy began ministering to the LORD before Eli the priest.
Na Elkanah el folokla nu Ramah, a tulik Samuel el mutana in Shiloh ac kulansap nu sin LEUM GOD ye koko lal mwet tol Eli.
12 Now the sons of Eli were wicked men; they had no regard for the LORD
Wen natul Eli elos elah koluk. Elos tia akilen LEUM GOD
13 or for the custom of the priests with the people. When any man offered a sacrifice, the servant of the priest would come with a three-pronged meat fork while the meat was boiling
ac elos tia pac akilen oakwuk lun mwet tol ke ma fal elos in oru nu sin mwet uh. Pa inge ouiya ma elos oru nu sin mwet ma tuku in orek kisa. Pacl ma sie mwet el orek kisa, na mwet kulansap lun mwet tol inge ac tuku, us fork ma oasr wihs tolkwe kac. Ke pacl ma ikwa uh srakna poel,
14 and plunge it into the pan or kettle or cauldron or cooking pot. And the priest would claim for himself whatever the meat fork brought up. This is how they treated all the Israelites who came to Shiloh.
el ac isongya fork uh nu in tup uh, ac kutena ikwa ma sremla ke fork sac, pa inge ma nun mwet tol uh. Wen luo inge oru ouinge nu sin mwet Israel nukewa ma tuku in orek kisa.
15 Even before the fat was burned, the servant of the priest would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to roast, because he will not accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”
Oayapa meet liki na kiris uh itukla liki ikwa uh in firriyukyak, mwet kulansap lun mwet tol uh ac tuku ac fahk nu sin mwet orek kisa uh, “Ase kutu ikwa an nu sin mwet tol elan sifacna munan. El tia enenu ma poelyak. El lungse in takmwek na.”
16 And if any man said to him, “The fat must be burned first; then you may take whatever you want,” the servant would reply, “No, you must give it to me right now. If you refuse, I will take it by force!”
Ac mwet orek kisa sac fin fahk, “Lela kut in fahsr fal nu ke ma oakwuk, kut in esukak kiris uh meet tufah kom eis enenu lom tok,” na mwet kulansap lun mwet tol el ac fahk, “Mo! Ase nu sik ingena! Kom fin tia, nga ac fah eis ke ku!”
17 Thus the sin of these young men was severe in the sight of the LORD, for they were treating the LORD’s offering with contempt.
Ma koluk lun mwet fusr luo inge arulana koluk ye mutun LEUM GOD, mweyen elos oru mwe kisa nu sin LEUM GOD oana ma pilasr.
18 Now Samuel was ministering before the LORD—a boy wearing a linen ephod.
In pacl se inge Samuel el oru na orekma in kulansap lal nu sin LEUM GOD, ac el nukum sie nuknuk in mwet tol orekla ke nuknuk linen.
19 Each year his mother would make him a little robe and bring it to him when she went with her husband to offer the annual sacrifice.
In yac nukewa nina kial ac oru sie nuknuk srisrik lal Samuel, ac usla nu yorol ke el ac wi mukul tumal som in orek kisa ke yac sac.
20 And Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, saying, “May the LORD give you children by this woman in place of the one she dedicated to the LORD.” Then they would go home.
Na Eli el ac akinsewowoyal Elkanah ac mutan kial ac fahk, “Lela LEUM GOD Elan asot pac sie tulik nu sin mutan se kiom an, in aol tulik se komtal kisakunang nu sel inge.” Tukun ma inge, eltal ac folok nu yen seltal.
21 So the LORD attended to Hannah, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the LORD.
LEUM GOD El akinsewowoyal Hannah ac sang pac tulik mukul tolu, ac tulik mutan luo natul. Ac tulik Samuel el kapak ac kulansap nu sin LEUM GOD.
22 Now Eli was very old, and he heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel and how they were sleeping with the women who served at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
In pacl se inge Eli el arulana matu, ac el lohng na ma wen luo natul ah oru nu sin mwet Israel, oayapa lah eltal motul yurin mutan su orekma ke nien utyak nu in Lohm Nuknuk sin LEUM GOD.
23 “Why are you doing these things?” Eli said to his sons. “I hear about your wicked deeds from all these people.
Na Eli el fahk nu sin wen luo natul, “Efu ku komtal oru ma koluk inge? Mwet puspis kaskaskin nga lohng.
24 No, my sons; it is not a good report I hear circulating among the LORD’s people.
Wen nutik, nimet sifil oru ouingan! Arulana koluk ma mwet lun LEUM GOD elos fahk keimtal uh!
25 If a man sins against another man, God can intercede for him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to their father, since the LORD intended to put them to death.
Sie mwet fin orekma koluk lain sie mwet, God El ku in kasrel. A su ku in kasru sie mwet el fin orekma koluk lain LEUM GOD?” Tusruktu wen luo inge tiana porongo pusren papa tumaltal, mweyen LEUM GOD El sulela tari in oneltal uh.
26 And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the LORD and with man.
Tulik Samuel el kapkapak ac ohi ye mutun LEUM GOD ac mwet uh.
27 Then a man of God came to Eli and told him, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Did I not clearly reveal Myself to your father’s house when they were in Egypt under Pharaoh’s house?
Sie mwet palu tuku nu yorol Eli ac fahkak kas inge sin LEUM GOD, “Ke pacl se Aaron, papa matu tomom, ac sou lal elos tuh mwet kohs ye tokosra Egypt, nga tuh sifacna fahkyuyak nu sel Aaron.
28 And out of all the tribes of Israel I selected your father to be My priest, to offer sacrifices on My altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod in My presence. I also gave to the house of your father all the offerings of the Israelites made by fire.
Liki sruf nukewa lun Israel, nga sulela sou lal tuh in mwet tol luk, in kulansap ke mwe loang luk, in oru mwe kisa firir, ac nokomang nuknuk in ephod lun mwet tol in suk ma lungse luk. Ac nga oakiya tuh elos in ku in eis sie ip ke mwe kisa firir fin loang uh.
29 Why then do you kick at My sacrifice and offering that I have prescribed for My dwelling place? You have honored your sons more than Me by fattening yourselves with the best of all the offerings of My people Israel.’
Na efu kowos ku ngetnget in rapkui mwe kisa ac mwe sang ma nga sap mwet luk in oru nu sik? Eli, efu ku kom akfulatye wen nutum inge yohk likiyu, ke kom lela eltal in akfatyeltal ke ip wowo ma mwet uh kisakin nu sik uh?
30 Therefore, the LORD, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I did indeed say that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever. But now the LORD declares: Far be it from Me! For I will honor those who honor Me, but those who despise Me will be disdained.
Nga LEUM GOD lun Israel, nga tuh wulela meet mu sruf lom ac sou lom pa ac orekma in mwet tol nu sik nwe tok. Tusruktu, nga fahk inge lah ac fah tia sifil ouinge! Nga fah akfulatyalos su akfulatyeyu, ac pilesralos su pilesreyu.
31 Behold, the days are coming when I will cut off your strength and the strength of your father’s house, so that no older man will be left in your house.
Lohng akwoya — ac tia paht nga ac fah uniya mukul fusr nukewa in sruf lom ac sou lom, tuh in wangin mukul fusr in sou lom sun matwa matu.
32 You will see distress in My dwelling place. Despite all that is good in Israel, no one in your house will ever again reach old age.
Kom ac fah pulakin ongoiya ac inse koluk ke kom ac liye ma nga ac fah oru in akinsewowoye mwet Israel saya, a funu mwet in sou lom, wangin sie selos ac fah moul sun matwa.
33 And every one of you that I do not cut off from My altar, your eyes will fail and your heart will grieve. All your descendants will die by the sword of men.
Tusruktu, nga ac fah filiya sie mwet sin fwil nutum, ac el fah kulansap nu sik ke ip lun mwet tol. Tusruk ac fah kunla mutal, ac wanginla finsrak yorol, ac fwil nutum nukewa saya ac fah misa ke misa keok.
34 And this sign shall come to you concerning your two sons Hophni and Phinehas: They will both die on the same day.
Ke wen luo nutum inge, Hophni ac Phinehas, eltal ac tukeni misa ke len sefanna, ma se inge fah akkalemye nu sum lah ma nukewa nga fahk inge ac akpwayeyuk.
35 Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest. He will do whatever is in My heart and mind. And I will build for him an enduring house, and he will walk before My anointed one for all time.
Nga ac fah sulela sie mwet tol su ac fah pwaye nu sik, ac oru ma nukewa ma nga lungse. Nga fah sang fita lal, su ac fah kulansap nu sik in pacl nukewa ye mutun tokosra su nga sulela.
36 And everyone left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver or a morsel of bread, pleading, “Please appoint me to some priestly office so that I can eat a piece of bread.”’”
Kutena sin fita lom ku fwil nutum su moul na, elos ac fah som nu yurin mwet tol sac ac ngusr mani ac mwe mongo, ac elos ac fah kwafe sel elos in kasru mwet tol, elos in mau konauk mwe mongo nalos.”
