< 1 Corinthians 3 >

1 And I, brethren, was not able to speak to you, as to spiritual men, but as to those who are carnal, as to babes in Christ.
he bhrātaraḥ, ahamātmikairiva yuṣmābhiḥ samaṁ sambhāṣituṁ nāśaknavaṁ kintu śārīrikācāribhiḥ khrīṣṭadharmme śiśutulyaiśca janairiva yuṣmābhiḥ saha samabhāṣe|
2 I fed you with milk, not with meat; for you were not then able to bear it; indeed, not even now are you able;
yuṣmān kaṭhinabhakṣyaṁ na bhojayan dugdham apāyayaṁ yato yūyaṁ bhakṣyaṁ grahītuṁ tadā nāśaknuta idānīmapi na śaknutha, yato hetoradhunāpi śārīrikācāriṇa ādhve|
3 for you are yet carnal. For, since envy and strife and divisions are among you, are you not carnal, and do you not walk as men?
yuṣmanmadhye mātsaryyavivādabhedā bhavanti tataḥ kiṁ śārīrikācāriṇo nādhve mānuṣikamārgeṇa ca na caratha?
4 For when one says, I am of Paul, and another, I of Apollos, are you not carnal?
paulasyāhamityāpallorahamiti vā yadvākyaṁ yuṣmākaṁ kaiścit kaiścit kathyate tasmād yūyaṁ śārīrikācāriṇa na bhavatha?
5 Who, then, is Paul? and who is Apollos? Ministers by whom you have believed, even as the Lord gave to each one.
paulaḥ kaḥ? āpallo rvā kaḥ? tau paricārakamātrau tayorekaikasmai ca prabhu ryādṛk phalamadadāt tadvat tayordvārā yūyaṁ viśvāsino jātāḥ|
6 I planted, Apollos watered: but God made to grow.
ahaṁ ropitavān āpallośca niṣiktavān īśvaraścāvarddhayat|
7 So, neither he that plants nor he that waters is any thing: but God that makes to grow.
ato ropayitṛsektārāvasārau varddhayiteśvara eva sāraḥ|
8 But he that plants and he that waters are one; and each one shall receive his own reward, according to his own labor.
ropayitṛsektārau ca samau tayorekaikaśca svaśramayogyaṁ svavetanaṁ lapsyate|
9 For we are fellow-laborers for God: you are God’s field, you are God’s building.
āvāmīśvareṇa saha karmmakāriṇau, īśvarasya yat kṣetram īśvarasya yā nirmmitiḥ sā yūyameva|
10 According to the grace of God that is given to me, as a wise master-builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds on this. But let every one take heed how he builds on this.
īśvarasya prasādāt mayā yat padaṁ labdhaṁ tasmāt jñāninā gṛhakāriṇeva mayā bhittimūlaṁ sthāpitaṁ tadupari cānyena nicīyate| kintu yena yannicīyate tat tena vivicyatāṁ|
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which, is Jesus Christ.
yato yīśukhrīṣṭarūpaṁ yad bhittimūlaṁ sthāpitaṁ tadanyat kimapi bhittimūlaṁ sthāpayituṁ kenāpi na śakyate|
12 If any man builds on this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble,
etadbhittimūlasyopari yadi kecit svarṇarūpyamaṇikāṣṭhatṛṇanalān nicinvanti,
13 each man’s work shall be made manifest; for the day shall make it manifest, for it is revealed with fire: and the fire shall try each man’s work, what sort it is.
tarhyekaikasya karmma prakāśiṣyate yataḥ sa divasastat prakāśayiṣyati| yato hatostana divasena vahnimayenodetavyaṁ tata ekaikasya karmma kīdṛśametasya parīkṣā bahninā bhaviṣyati|
14 If any man’s work abide, which he builds on this, he shall receive a reward;
yasya nicayanarūpaṁ karmma sthāsnu bhaviṣyati sa vetanaṁ lapsyate|
15 if any man’s work be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved, yet so, as through fire.
yasya ca karmma dhakṣyate tasya kṣati rbhaviṣyati kintu vahne rnirgatajana iva sa svayaṁ paritrāṇaṁ prāpsyati|
16 Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
yūyam īśvarasya mandiraṁ yuṣmanmadhye ceśvarasyātmā nivasatīti kiṁ na jānītha?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy: for the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
īśvarasya mandiraṁ yena vināśyate so'pīśvareṇa vināśayiṣyate yata īśvarasya mandiraṁ pavitrameva yūyaṁ tu tanmandiram ādhve|
18 Let no one deceive himself: if any one among you is considered as wise in this age, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. (aiōn g165)
kopi svaṁ na vañcayatāṁ| yuṣmākaṁ kaścana cedihalokasya jñānena jñānavānahamiti budhyate tarhi sa yat jñānī bhavet tadarthaṁ mūḍho bhavatu| (aiōn g165)
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God; for it is written: He takes the wise in their own craftiness.
yasmādihalokasya jñānam īśvarasya sākṣāt mūḍhatvameva| etasmin likhitamapyāste, tīkṣṇā yā jñānināṁ buddhistayā tān dharatīśvaraḥ|
20 And again: The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
punaśca| jñānināṁ kalpanā vetti parameśo nirarthakāḥ|
21 Therefore, let no one glory in men; for all things are yours,
ataeva ko'pi manujairātmānaṁ na ślāghatāṁ yataḥ sarvvāṇi yuṣmākameva,
22 whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come, all are yours:
paula vā āpallo rvā kaiphā vā jagad vā jīvanaṁ vā maraṇaṁ vā varttamānaṁ vā bhaviṣyadvā sarvvāṇyeva yuṣmākaṁ,
23 and you are Christ’s: and Christ is God’s.
yūyañca khrīṣṭasya, khrīṣṭaśceśvarasya|
