John 14
1 Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me.
"Euer Herz sei ohne Bangen! Traut auf Gott und traut auf mich!
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
In meines Vaters Haus sind viele Wohnungen. Wenn es nicht so wäre, so hätte ich's euch gesagt; denn ich gehe hin, euch die Stätte zu bereiten.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.
Und wenn ich hingegangen bin und euch eine Stätte bereitet habe, dann komme ich wieder und will euch zu mir holen, damit auch ihr dort seid, wo ich bin.
4 And whither I go, ye know the way.
Den Weg zu jenem Ort, dahin ich gehe, kennt ihr ja."
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; how know we the way?
Da sprach Thomas zu ihm: "Herr, wir wissen nicht, wohin du gehst; wie kann uns da der Weg bekannt sein?"
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jesus antwortete ihm: "Ich bin der Weg, weil ich die Wahrheit und das Leben bin; niemand kommt zum Vater als durch mich.
7 If ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also: from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
Hättet ihr mich voll erkannt, so würdet ihr auch meinen Vater kennen. Von nun an aber kennt ihr ihn und habt ihn schon gesehen."
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
Philippus sprach zu ihm: "Herr, zeige uns den Vater; dann sind wir befriedigt!"
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and dost thou not know me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; how sayest thou, Show us the Father?
Jesus erwiderte ihm: "So lange bin ich bei euch, und du kennst mich noch nicht, Philippus? Wer mich gesehen hat, der hat auch den Vater gesehen. Wie kannst du da sagen: 'Zeige uns den Vater?'
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I say unto you I speak not from myself: but the Father abiding in me doeth his works.
Glaubst du nicht, daß ich im Vater bin und der Vater in mir ist? Die Worte, die ich zu euch rede, die spreche ich nicht aus eigener Vollmacht. Sondern der Vater, der bleibend in mir wohnt, der und kein anderer ist wirksam.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
Glaubt mir, daß ich im Vater bin und der Vater in mir ist! Wo nicht, so glaubt doch gerade um der Werke willen, die ich tue!
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.
Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wer an mich glaubt, der wird die Werke auch tun, die ich tue; ja er wird noch größere tun als diese, weil ich zum Vater gehe.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Um was ihr dann in meinem Namen bittet, das will ich tun, damit der Vater verherrlicht werde in dem Sohn!
14 If ye shall ask anything in my name, that will I do.
Wenn ihr in meinem Namen mich um etwas bittet, so will ich's tun.
15 If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.
Liebt ihr mich, so haltet meine Gebote!
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, (aiōn g165)
Dann will ich den Vater bitten, und er wird euch einen anderen Helfer geben, damit er ewig bei euch bleibe: (aiōn g165)
17 [even] the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you.
den Geist der Wahrheit. Den kann die Welt nicht empfangen, denn sie hat für ihn kein Auge und erkennt ihn nicht. Ihr erkennt ihn, denn er bleibt bei euch und wird in euch sein.
18 I will not leave you desolate: I come unto you.
Ich will euch nicht verwaist lassen, ich komme zu euch.
19 Yet a little while, and the world beholdeth me no more; but ye behold me: because I live, ye shall live also.
In Kürze schaut die Welt mich nicht mehr. Ihr aber sollt mich schauen: weil ich lebe, werdet ihr auch leben.
20 In that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
An jenem Tag werdet ihr erkennen, daß ich in meinem Vater bin, daß ihr in mir seid, und daß ich in euch bin.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself unto him.
Wer meine Gebote hat und sie befolgt, der hat mich lieb. Wer aber mich liebt, der wird von meinem Vater geliebt werden, und ich werde ihn lieben und mich ihm offenbaren."
22 Judas (not Iscariot) saith unto him, Lord, what is come to pass that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
Da fragte ihn Judas, nicht der aus Kariot: "Herr, wie kommt es, daß du nur uns dich offenbaren willst und nicht auch der Welt?"
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Jesus antwortete ihm: "Wer mich liebt, der wird mein Wort befolgen, und mein Vater wird ihn lieben, und wir werden zu ihm kommen und Wohnung bei ihm nehmen.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my words: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s who sent me.
Wer mich nicht liebt, der befolgt auch meine Worte nicht. Und doch stammt das Wort, das ihr vernehmt, nicht von mir, sondern von dem Vater, der mich gesandt.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, while [yet] abiding with you.
Dies habe ich zu euch geredet, während ich noch bei euch bin.
26 But the Comforter, [even] the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you.
Der Helfer aber, der Heilige Geist, den der Vater senden wird in meinem Namen, der wird euch alles lehren und euch erinnern an alles, was ich euch gesagt.
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
Frieden hinterlasse ich euch, meinen Frieden gebe ich euch. Ich gebe euch keinen Frieden, wie die Welt ihn gibt. Euer Herz sei ohne Bangen und ohne Furcht!
28 Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I.
Ihr habt vernommen, daß ich euch gesagt: 'Ich gehe und komme zu euch.' Hättet ihr mich lieb, so würdet ihr euch freuen, daß ich zum Vater gehe; denn der Vater ist größer als ich.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe.
Und nun habe ich's euch gesagt, ehe es geschehen ist, damit ihr glaubt, wenn es nun geschieht.
30 I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world cometh: and he hath nothing in me;
Ich werde nicht mehr viel mit euch reden; denn der Weltbeherrscher naht. Er hat zwar kein Recht an mich.
31 but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
Aber die Welt soll erkennen, daß ich den Vater liebe und so handle, wie mir der Vater geboten hat. Steht auf und laßt uns von hier gehen!
