John 14
1 Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me.
Que votre coeur ne se trouble point; croyez en Dieu, croyez aussi en moi.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
Il y a beaucoup de demeures dans la maison de mon Père; si cela n'était pas, je vous l'aurais dit. Je vais vous préparer une place.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.
Et quand je m'en serai allé et que je vous aurai préparé une place, je reviendrai et je vous prendrai avec moi, afin que là où je suis, vous y soyez aussi.
4 And whither I go, ye know the way.
Et vous savez où je vais, et vous en savez le chemin.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; how know we the way?
Thomas lui dit: Seigneur, nous ne savons où tu vas; comment en saurions-nous le chemin?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jésus répondit: Je suis le chemin, la vérité et la vie; personne ne vient au Père que par moi.
7 If ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also: from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
Si vous me connaissiez, vous connaîtriez aussi mon Père; et dès à présent, vous le connaissez et vous l'avez vu.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
Philippe lui dit: Seigneur, montre-nous le Père, et cela nous suffit.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and dost thou not know me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; how sayest thou, Show us the Father?
Jésus répondit: Il y a si longtemps que je suis avec vous, et tu ne m'as pas connu, Philippe! Celui qui m'a vu, a vu le Père. Comment dis-tu; Montre-nous le Père?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I say unto you I speak not from myself: but the Father abiding in me doeth his works.
Ne crois-tu pas que je suis dans le Père, et que le Père est en moi? Les paroles que je vous dis, je ne les dis pas de moi-même; le Père, qui demeure en moi, c'est lui qui accomplit ses propres oeuvres.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
Croyez-moi, quand je dis que je suis dans le Père et que le Père est dans moi; sinon, croyez à cause de mes oeuvres.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.
En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui croit en moi fera aussi les oeuvres que je fais; il en fera même de plus grandes, parce que je vais auprès du Père.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Et quoi que vous demandiez en mon nom, je le ferai, afin que le Père soit glorifié dans le fils.
14 If ye shall ask anything in my name, that will I do.
Si vous demandez quelque chose en mon nom, je le ferai.
15 If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.
Si vous m'aimez, vous garderez mes commandements.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, (aiōn g165)
Et je prierai le Père, qui vous donnera un autre Consolateur, afin qu'il soit éternellement avec vous, (aiōn g165)
17 [even] the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you.
l'Esprit de vérité, que le monde ne peut recevoir, parce qu'il ne le voit pas et ne le connaît pas; mais vous, vous le connaissez, parce qu'il demeure avec vous, et il sera en vous.
18 I will not leave you desolate: I come unto you.
Je ne vous laisserai pas orphelins, je viendrai à vous.
19 Yet a little while, and the world beholdeth me no more; but ye behold me: because I live, ye shall live also.
Encore un peu de temps, et le monde ne me verra plus, mais vous me verrez; parce que je vis, vous vivrez aussi.
20 In that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
En ce jour-là, vous reconnaîtrez que je suis en mon Père, que vous êtes en moi, et que je suis en vous.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself unto him.
Celui qui a mes commandements et qui les garde, c'est celui-là qui m'aime. Et celui qui m'aime sera aimé de mon Père; et je l'aimerai, et je me ferai connaître à lui.
22 Judas (not Iscariot) saith unto him, Lord, what is come to pass that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
Jude, non pas l'Iscariote, lui dit: Seigneur, d'où vient que tu te feras connaître à nous, et non pas au monde?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Jésus lui répondit: Si quelqu'un m'aime, il gardera ma parole, et mon Père l'aimera, et nous viendrons à lui, et nous ferons notre demeure chez lui.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my words: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s who sent me.
Celui qui ne m'aime pas ne garde pas mes paroles; et la parole que vous entendez n'est pas de moi, mais elle est du Père qui m'a envoyé.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, while [yet] abiding with you.
Je vous ai dit ces choses, pendant que je demeurais avec vous.
26 But the Comforter, [even] the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you.
Mais le Consolateur, le Saint-Esprit, que le Père enverra en mon nom, celui-là vous enseignera toutes choses, et vous remettra en mémoire tout ce que je vous ai dit.
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
Je vous laisse la paix; je vous donne ma paix; je ne vous la donne pas comme le monde la donne. Que votre coeur ne se trouble pas et qu'il ne craigne point.
28 Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I.
Vous avez entendu que je vous ai dit: Je m'en vais, et je reviens à vous. Si vous m'aimiez, vous vous réjouiriez de ce que je vais auprès du Père, parce que le Père est plus grand que moi.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe.
Et maintenant, je vous ai dit ces choses avant qu'elles arrivent, afin que, quand elles seront arrivées, vous croyiez.
30 I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world cometh: and he hath nothing in me;
Je ne vous parlerai plus guère; car le prince de ce monde vient, et il n'a rien en moi.
31 but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
Mais il faut que le monde connaisse que j'aime le Père, et que je fais ce que le Père m'a commandé. Levez-vous, partons d'ici.
