Psalms 59
1 For the Chief Musician. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A poem by David, when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, my God. Set me on high from those who rise up against me.
聖歌隊の指揮者によって、「滅ぼすな」というしらべにあわせてうたわせたダビデのミクタムの歌。これはサウルがダビデを殺そうとして人をつかわし、その家をうかがわせたときダビデのよんだもの わが神よ、どうかわたしをわが敵から助け出し、わたしに逆らって起りたつ者からお守りください。
2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity. Save me from the bloodthirsty men.
悪を行う者からわたしを助け出し、血を流す人からわたしをお救いください。
3 For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul. The mighty gather themselves together against me, not for my disobedience, nor for my sin, LORD.
見よ、彼らはひそみかくれて、わたしの命をうかがい、力ある人々が共に集まってわたしを攻めます。主よ、わたしにとがも罪もなく、
4 I have done no wrong, yet they are ready to attack me. Rise up, behold, and help me!
わたしにあやまちもないのに、彼らは走りまわって備えをします。わたしを助けるために目をさまして、ごらんください。
5 You, LORD God of Armies, the God of Israel, rouse yourself to punish the nations. Show no mercy to the wicked traitors. (Selah)
万軍の神、主よ、あなたはイスラエルの神です。目をさまして、もろもろの国民を罰し、悪をたくらむ者どもに、あわれみを施さないでください。 (セラ)
6 They return at evening, howling like dogs, and prowl around the city.
彼らは夕ごとに帰ってきて、犬のようにほえて町をあさりまわる。
7 Behold, they spew with their mouth. Swords are in their lips, “For”, they say, “who hears us?”
見よ、彼らはその口をもってほえ叫び、そのくちびるをもってうなり、「だれが聞くものか」と言う。
8 But you, LORD, laugh at them. You scoff at all the nations.
しかし、主よ、あなたは彼らを笑い、もろもろの国民をあざけり笑われる。
9 Oh, my Strength, I watch for you, for God is my high tower.
わが力よ、わたしはあなたにむかってほめ歌います。神よ、あなたはわたしの高きやぐらです。
10 My God will go before me with his loving kindness. God will let me look at my enemies in triumph.
わが神はそのいつくしみをもってわたしを迎えられる。わが神はわたしに敵の敗北を見させられる。
11 Do not kill them, or my people may forget. Scatter them by your power, and bring them down, Lord our shield.
どうぞ、わが民の忘れることのないために、彼らを殺さないでください。主、われらの盾よ、み力をもって彼らをよろめかせ、彼らを倒れさせないでください。
12 For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride, for the curses and lies which they utter.
彼らの口の罪、そのくちびるの言葉のために彼らをその高ぶりに捕われさせてください。彼らが語るのろいと偽りのために
13 Consume them in wrath. Consume them, and they will be no more. Let them know that God rules in Jacob, to the ends of the earth. (Selah)
憤りをもって彼らを滅ぼし、もはやながらえることのないまでに、彼らを滅ぼしてください。そうすれば地のはてまで、人々は神がヤコブを治められることを知るに至るでしょう。 (セラ)
14 At evening let them return. Let them howl like a dog, and go around the city.
彼らは夕ごとに帰ってきて、犬のようにほえて町をあさりまわる。
15 They shall wander up and down for food, and wait all night if they are not satisfied.
彼らは食い物のためにあるきまわり、飽くことを得なければ怒りうなる。
16 But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, a refuge in the day of my distress.
しかし、わたしはあなたのみ力をうたい、朝には声をあげてみいつくしみを歌います。あなたはわたしの悩みの日にわが高きやぐらとなり、わたしの避け所となられたからです。
17 To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.
わが力よ、わたしはあなたにむかってほめうたいます。神よ、あなたはわが高きやぐら、わたしにいつくしみを賜わる神であられるからです。
