< Psalms 131 >

1 A Song of Ascents. By David. LORD, my heart is not arrogant, nor my eyes lofty; nor do I concern myself with great matters, or things too wonderful for me.
A Song of Degrees. O Lord, my heart is not exalted, neither have mine eyes been [haughtily] raised: neither have I exercised myself in great [matters], nor in things too wonderful for me.
2 Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
[I shall have sinned] if I have not been humble, but have exulted my soul: according to [the relation of] a weaned child to his mother, so wilt thou recompense my soul.
3 Israel, hope in the LORD, from this time forward and forever more.
Let Israel hope in the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.
