Matthew 25
1 “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
"Dann wird das Himmelreich zehn Jungfrauen gleichen, die mit ihren Lampen dem Bräutigam und der Braut entgegengingen.
2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
Fünf aus ihnen waren töricht und fünf klug.
3 Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,
Die törichten hatten zwar ihre Lampen bei sich, aber ohne Öl;
4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
und die klugen trugen in Krügen noch Öl für die Lampen bei sich.
5 Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
Der Bräutigam blieb länger aus, und alle wurden schläfrig und nickten schließlich ein.
6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’
Da, um Mitternacht, erscholl der Ruf: 'Der Bräutigam! Auf! Geht ihm entgegen!'
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Alle jene Jungfrauen erhoben sich und machten ihre Lampen zurecht.
8 The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
Da baten die törichten die klugen: 'Gebt uns von euerm Öl! Unsere Lampen gehen aus.'
9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there is not enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
Die klugen aber sagten: 'Das geht nicht an; es möchte sonst für uns und für euch nicht reichen. Geht lieber zu den Krämern und kaufet euch.'
10 While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.
Sie gingen hin, um zu kaufen. Da kam der Bräutigam. Die bereit waren, gingen mit ihm zur Hochzeit ein, und die Türe ward geschlossen.
11 Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
Später kamen auch die andern Jungfrauen; sie riefen: 'Herr, Herr, mach uns auf!'
12 But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I do not know you.’
Doch er erwiderte: 'Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Ich kenne euch nicht.'
13 Watch therefore, for you do not know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
So seid denn wachsam, weil ihr weder den Tag noch die Stunde wisset.
14 “For it is like a man going into another country, who called his own servants and entrusted his goods to them.
Ferner: Ein Mann wollte in die Fremde ziehen. Da ließ er seine Knechte kommen und übergab ihnen sein Vermögen.
15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.
Dem einen gab er fünf Talente, dem andern zwei und einem dritten eines, nach seinen Fähigkeiten einem jeden. Dann reiste er ab.
16 Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
Der fünf Talente erhalten hatte, ging sogleich hin, trieb damit Handel und gewann noch fünf weitere dazu.
17 In the same way, he also who got the two gained another two.
Auch der mit seinen zwei gewann noch zwei andre dazu.
18 But he who received the one talent went away and dug in the earth and hid his lord’s money.
Der aber, der nur das eine empfangen hatte, ging hin und vergrub das Geld seines Herrn im Boden.
19 “Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and settled accounts with them.
Nach langer Zeit kam der Herr jener Knechte zurück und hielt mit ihnen Abrechnung.
20 He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents in addition to them.’
Der mit den fünf Talenten kam herein und brachte noch fünf weitere Talente mit. Er sprach: 'Herr, fünf Talente hast du mir übergeben, sieh, weitere fünf habe ich dazugewonnen.'
21 “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
Da sprach sein Herr zu ihm: 'Recht so, du guter und getreuer Knecht! In wenigem bist du getreu gewesen, ich will dich über vieles setzen; gehe ein in die Freude deines Herrn!'
22 “He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents in addition to them.’
Da trat der mit den zwei Talenten ein. Er sprach: 'Herr, zwei Talente hast du mir übergeben, sieh, weitere zwei habe ich dazugewonnen.'
23 “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things. I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
Da sprach sein Herr zu ihm: 'Recht so, du guter und getreuer Knecht! In wenigem bist du getreu gewesen, ich will dich über vieles setzen; gehe ein in die Freude deines Herrn!'
24 “He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter.
Endlich kam auch der, der ein Talent erhalten hatte. Er sprach: 'Herr, ich kenne dich: Du bist ein harter Mann; du erntest, wo du nicht gesät hast, wo du nichts eingesetzt hast, willst du gewinnen.
25 I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’
Ich hatte Angst, ging hin und vergrub dein Talent im Boden; sieh, hier hast du wiederum, was dir gehört.'
26 “But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter.
Da sprach sein Herr zu ihm: 'Du böser und fauler Knecht! Du wußtest, daß ich ernte, wo ich nicht gesät, gewinnen will, wo ich nichts eingesetzt habe?
27 You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.
Da hättest du mein Geld zu den Wechslern bringen sollen, dann hätte ich nach meiner Rückkehr das Meinige mit Zinsen wiederum bekommen.
28 Take away therefore the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.
So nehmt ihm das Talent und gebt es dem, der zehn hat.
29 For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who does not have, even that which he has will be taken away.
Denn jedem, der hat, wird gegeben werden, und er wird im Überfluß haben. Doch wer nichts hat, dem wird auch das, was er besitzt, genommen werden.
30 Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
Den nichtsnutzigen Knecht aber werft in die Finsternis hinaus; dort wird Heulen und Zähneknirschen sein.
31 “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory.
Wenn der Menschensohn in seiner Herrlichkeit erscheint und mit ihm alle seine Engel, dann wird er sich auf dem Throne seiner Herrlichkeit niederlassen.
32 Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
Alle Völker werden vor ihm versammelt werden. Er wird sie voneinander scheiden, wie der Hirte die Schafe von den Böcken scheidet.
33 He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Die Schafe wird er auf seine rechte Seite stellen, die Böcke aber auf die linke.
34 Then the King will tell those on his right hand, ‘Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
Dann wird der König die zu seiner Rechten anreden: 'Kommt her, ihr Gesegneten meines Vaters! Nehmt in Besitz das Reich, das euch seit Grundlegung der Welt bereitet ist.
35 for I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in.
Denn ich war hungrig, und ihr habt mich gespeist; ich war durstig, und ihr habt mich getränkt; ich war Fremdling, und ihr habt mich beherbergt;
36 I was naked and you clothed me. I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to me.’
ich war nackt, und ihr habt mich bekleidet; ich war krank, und ihr habt mich besucht; ich war im Gefängnis, und ihr seid zu mir gekommen.'
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink?
Da werden ihn die Gerechten fragen: 'Herr, wann sahen wir dich hungrig und haben dich gespeist, oder durstig und gaben dir zu trinken?
38 When did we see you as a stranger and take you in, or naked and clothe you?
Wann sahen wir dich fremd und haben dich beherbergt, oder nackt und haben dich bekleidet?
39 When did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?’
Wann sahen wir dich krank oder im Gefängnis und sind zu dir gekommen?'
40 “The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Da wird ihnen der König antworten: 'Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Was ihr einem der geringsten meiner Brüder getan habt, das habt ihr mir getan.'
41 Then he will say also to those on the left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the consummate (aiōnios g166) fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;
Dann wird er auch zu denen auf der Linken sagen: 'Hinweg von mir, Verfluchte, in das ewige Feuer, das dem Teufel samt seinen Engeln bereitet ist. (aiōnios g166)
42 for I was hungry, and you did not give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink;
Denn ich war hungrig, und ihr habt mich nicht gespeist; ich war durstig, und ihr habt mich nicht getränkt;
43 I was a stranger, and you did not take me in; naked, and you did not clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me.’
ich war fremd, und ihr habt mich nicht beherbergt; ich war nackt, und ihr habt mich nicht bekleidet; ich war krank und im Gefängnis, und ihr habt mich nicht besucht.'
44 “Then they will also answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?’
Auch diese werden nunmehr fragen: 'Herr, wann sahen wir dich hungrig oder durstig, wann fremd und nackt und krank und im Gefängnis und hätten dir nicht gedient?'
45 “Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’
Da wird er ihnen antworten: 'Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Was ihr einem dieser meiner Geringsten nicht getan habt, das habt ihr auch mir nicht getan.'
