John 21
1 After these things, Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. He revealed himself this way.
Après cela Jésus se manifesta lui-même aux disciples près de la mer de Tibériade; or voici comment il se manifesta:
2 Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.
Ensemble étaient Simon Pierre, et Thomas qui est appelé Didymos, et Nathanaël de Cana en Galilée, et les fils de Zébédée, et deux autres de ses disciples.
3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They told him, “We are also coming with you.” They immediately went out and entered into the boat. That night, they caught nothing.
Simon Pierre leur dit: « Je vais pêcher. » Ils lui disent: « Nous allons aussi avec toi. » Ils sortirent et montèrent dans la barque, et cette nuit-là ils ne prirent rien.
4 But when day had already come, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
Or, quand le matin fut venu, Jésus se trouva debout sur le rivage; cependant les disciples ne savaient pas que ce fût Jésus.
5 Jesus therefore said to them, “Children, have you anything to eat?” They answered him, “No.”
Jésus leur dit donc: « Enfants! N'avez-vous rien à manger? » Ils lui répondirent: « Non. »
6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” They cast it therefore, and now they were not able to draw it in for the multitude of fish.
Mais il leur dit: « Jetez le filet sur la droite de la barque, et vous trouverez. » Ils le jetèrent donc, et ils ne purent plus le retirer à cause de la quantité des poissons.
7 That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Lord!” So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat around himself (for he was naked), and threw himself into the sea.
Le disciple que Jésus aimait dit donc à Pierre: « C'est le Seigneur. » Simon Pierre, ayant donc appris que c'était le Seigneur, ceignit son sarrau, car il était nu, et il se jeta dans la mer.
8 But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits away), dragging the net full of fish.
Mais les autres disciples vinrent avec la barque, (car ils n'étaient éloignés de la terre que d'environ deux cents coudées), en entraînant le filet des poissons.
9 So when they got out on the land, they saw a fire of coals there, with fish and bread laid on it.
Lors donc qu'ils furent descendus à terre, ils voient un brasier établi, et du poisson posé dessus, et du pain.
10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”
Jésus leur dit: « Apportez quelques-uns des poissons que vous venez de prendre. »
11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land, full of one hundred fifty-three great fish. Even though there were so many, the net was not torn.
Simon Pierre monta donc, et il tira à terre le filet plein de cent cinquante-trois gros poissons; et, malgré ce grand nombre, le filet ne se déchira pas.
12 Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast!” None of the disciples dared inquire of him, “Who are you?” knowing that it was the Lord.
Jésus leur dit: « Venez, faites collation. » Aucun des disciples n'osait lui demander: « Qui es-tu? » sachant bien que c'était le Seigneur.
13 Then Jesus came and took the bread, gave it to them, and the fish likewise.
Jésus vient et prend le pain et le leur donne, et il fait de même des poissons.
14 This is now the third time that Jesus was revealed to his disciples after he had risen from the dead.
Ce fut là la troisième fois que Jésus apparut aux disciples, depuis qu'il fut ressuscité des morts.
15 So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
Lors donc qu'ils eurent fait collation, Jésus dit à Simon Pierre: « Simon, fils de Jean, m'aimes-tu plus que ceux-ci? Il lui dit: « Oui, Seigneur; tu sais que je t'aime. » Il lui dit: « Pais mes agneaux. »
16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.”
Il lui redit une seconde fois: « Simon, fils de Jean, m'aimes-tu? » Il lui dit: « Oui, Seigneur, tu sais que je t'aime. » Il lui dit: « Fais paître mes brebis. »
17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you have affection for me?” Peter was grieved because he asked him the third time, “Do you have affection for me?” He said to him, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I have affection for you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.
Il lui dit pour la troisième fois: « Simon, fils de Jean, m'aimes-tu? » Pierre fut attristé de ce qu'il lui avait dit pour la troisième fois: « M'aimes-tu? » et il dit: « Seigneur, tu sais toutes choses, tu connais que je t'aime. » Jésus lui dit: « Pais mes brebis.
18 Most certainly I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.”
En vérité, en vérité je te le déclare, lorsque tu étais plus jeune, tu te ceignais toi-même, et tu allais où tu voulais; mais quand tu seras devenu vieux, tu étendras les mains, et un autre te ceindra et te portera là où tu ne veux pas. »
19 Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.”
Or il dit cela pour indiquer par quel genre de mort il glorifierait Dieu, et après avoir dit cela, il dit: « Suis-moi. »
20 Then Peter, turning around, saw a disciple following. This was the disciple whom Jesus loved, the one who had also leaned on Jesus’ chest at the supper and asked, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”
Pierre, s'étant retourné, se voit suivi par le disciple que Jésus aimait, et qui, pendant le repas, s'était appuyé contre sa poitrine, et qui avait dit: « Seigneur, quel est celui qui doit te livrer? »
21 Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?”
Pierre donc l'ayant vu dit à Jésus: « Seigneur, mais celui-ci, qu'en sera-t-il? »
22 Jesus said to him, “If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you? You follow me.”
Jésus lui dit: « Si je veux qu'il demeure jusques à ce que je vienne, que t'importe? Quant à toi, suis-moi. »
23 This saying therefore went out among the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, “If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you?”
Le bruit se répandit donc parmi les frères, que ce disciple ne devait pas mourir; mais Jésus ne lui dit pas: « Il ne doit point mourir, » mais: « Si je veux qu'il demeure jusques à ce que je vienne, que t'importe? »
24 This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true.
C'est lui qui est le disciple qui atteste ces choses, et qui a aussi écrit ces choses, et nous savons que son témoignage est véridique;
25 There are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself would not have room for the books that would be written.
mais il y a encore beaucoup d'autres choses qu'a faites Jésus, lesquelles, si on les écrivait en détail, je ne pense pas que le monde même pût contenir les livres où elles seraient écrites.
