< Jeremiah 29 >

1 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,
Bino bye byali mu bbaluwa nnabbi Yeremiya gye yaweereza okuva mu Yerusaalemi eri abakadde abaali bakyasigaddewo mu bawaŋŋanguse n’eri bakabona, ne bannabbi n’abantu bonna Nebukadduneeza be yali atutte mu buwaŋŋanguse mu Babulooni okuva mu Yerusaalemi.
2 (after Jeconiah the king, the queen mother, the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the smiths had departed from Jerusalem),
Kino kyaliwo nga kabaka Yekoyakini n’abakungu be ne Namasole we n’abakulembeze ba Yuda ne Yerusaalemi, n’abafundi n’abaweesi bonna baggyiddwa mu Yerusaalemi.
3 by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon). It said:
Ebbaluwa yagiwa Erasa mutabani wa Safani ne Bemaliya mutabani wa Kirukiya, ne Zeddekiya kabaka wa Yuda be yatuma eri kabaka Nebukadduneeza mu Babulooni. Yali egamba bw’eti nti,
4 The LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says to all the captives whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon:
Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye, Katonda wa Isirayiri, ng’agamba abo bonna be natwala mu buwaŋŋanguse okuva mu Yerusaalemi okugenda mu Babulooni nti,
5 “Build houses and dwell in them. Plant gardens and eat their fruit.
“Mwezimbire amayumba mutuule omwo; mulime ennimiro mulye ebibala byamu.
6 Take wives and father sons and daughters. Take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters. Multiply there, and do not be diminished.
Muwase muzaale abaana aboobulenzi n’aboobuwala; muwasize batabani bammwe abakazi, ne bawala bammwe mubafumbize, nabo bazaale abaana abalenzi n’abawala. Mweyongere obungi eyo, temukendeera.
7 Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace.”
Era munoonye emirembe n’okukulaakulana kw’ekibuga gye mbatutte mu buwaŋŋanguse. Musabenga Mukama, ekibuga mukisabire kubanga bwe kikulaakulana nammwe mujja kukulaakulana.”
8 For the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel says: “Do not let your prophets who are among you and your diviners deceive you. Do not listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed.
Ddala kino Mukama ow’Eggye, Katonda wa Isirayiri ky’agamba nti, “Temukkiriza bannabbi n’abalaguzi abali mu mmwe kubalimbalimba. Temussaayo mwoyo ku birooto byabwe bye babalootolola.
9 For they prophesy falsely to you in my name. I have not sent them,” says the LORD.
Babategeeza obunnabbi bwa bulimba mu linnya lyange. Sibatumanga,” bw’ayogera Mukama.
10 For the LORD says, “After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
Ddala ddala bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama nti, “Emyaka nsanvu nga giweddeko e Babulooni, ndijja gye muli ntuukirize ekisuubizo kyange eky’ekisa mbakomyewo mu kifo kino.
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the LORD, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.
Kubanga mmanyi enteekateeka ze nnina gye muli, enteekateeka ez’okubakulaakulanya so si okubakolako akabi, enteekateeka ez’okubawa essuubi era n’obulamu obw’omu maaso,” bw’ayogera Mukama.
12 You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
“Awo mulimpita ne mujja ne munsaba, nange ne mbawulira,” bw’ayogera Mukama.
13 You shall seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.
“Mulinnoonya ne mundaba bwe mulinnoonya n’omutima gwammwe gwonna.
14 I will be found by you,” says the LORD, “and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD. I will bring you again to the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.”
Mulinzuula era ndibakomyawo okubaggya mu buwaŋŋanguse. Ndibakuŋŋaanya mu mawanga gonna n’ebifo byonna, gye nabagobera, era ndibakomyawo mu kifo mwe nabaggya okubatwala mu buwaŋŋanguse,” bw’ayogera Mukama.
15 Because you have said, “The LORD has raised us up prophets in Babylon,”
Muyinza okugamba nti, “Mukama atuyimusirizza bannabbi mu Babulooni.”
16 the LORD says concerning the king who sits on David’s throne, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your brothers who have not gone with you into captivity,
Naye kino Mukama ky’agamba ku kabaka atuula ku ntebe ya Dawudi n’abantu bonna abaasigala mu kibuga kino, n’abantu ab’ensi yammwe abataagenda nammwe mu buwaŋŋanguse.
17 the LORD of Armies says: “Behold, I will send on them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like rotten figs that cannot be eaten, they are so bad.
Bw’ati bwayogera Mukama Katonda ow’Eggye nti, “Ndisindika ekitala, n’enjala ne kawumpuli okubalumba era mbafuule ng’emitiini emibi ennyo egitayinza kuliika olw’obubi bwagyo.
18 I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth, to be an object of horror, an astonishment, a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations where I have driven them,
Ndibagoberera n’ekitala, n’enjala ne kawumpuli ne mbafuula ekyenyinyalwa eri obwakabaka bwonna obw’ensi era ekikolimo n’ekikangabwa, n’eky’okusekererwa n’okuvumwa eri amawanga gonna gye ndibagobera.
19 because they have not listened to my words,” says the LORD, “with which I sent to them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but you would not hear,” says the LORD.
Kubanga tebaawuliriza bigambo byange,” bwayogera Mukama, “ebigambo bye nabatumira emirundi emingi mu baweereza bange bannabbi. Era nammwe abawaŋŋanguse temuwulirizza,” bw’ayogera Mukama.
20 Hear therefore the LORD’s word, all you captives whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.
Noolwekyo, muwulirize ekigambo kya Mukama, mmwe mwenna abali mu buwaŋŋanguse be nagoba mu Yerusaalemi okugenda mu Babulooni.
21 The LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name: “Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he will kill them before your eyes.
Kino Mukama ow’Eggye, Katonda wa Isirayiri, ky’ayogera ku Akabu mutabani wa Kolaya ne Zeddekiya mutabani wa Maaseya, abaawa obunnabbi mu linnya lyange nti, “Ndibawaayo eri Nebukadduneeza kabaka w’e Babulooni, abatte nga mulaba.
22 A curse will be taken up about them by all the captives of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, ‘The LORD make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;’
Olw’abasajja abo, abali mu buwaŋŋanguse bonna abaava mu Yuda abali mu Babulooni balikozesa ekikolimo kino nti, ‘Mukama akukole nga bwe yakola Zeddekiya ne Akabu, kabaka w’e Babulooni be yayokya mu muliro.’
23 because they have done foolish things in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I did not command them. I am he who knows, and am witness,” says the LORD.
Kubanga bakoze eby’ekivve mu Isirayiri; bakoze obwenzi ne baka baliraanwa baabwe era ne boogera eby’obulimba mu linnya lyange, bye sibagambanga kwogera. Nkimanyi era ndi mujulirwa ku ekyo,” bw’ayogera Mukama.
24 Concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite you shall speak, saying,
Semaaya Omunekeramu mugambe nti,
25 “The LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says, ‘Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
“Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye, Katonda wa Isirayiri nti, Waweereza ebbaluwa mu mannya go eri abantu bonna mu Yerusaalemi, eri Zeffaniya mutabani wa Maaseya kabona ne bakabona bonna. Wagamba Zeffaniya nti,
26 “The LORD has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the LORD’s house, for every man who is crazy and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.
‘Mukama yakuteekawo okuba kabona mu kifo kya Yekoyaada okutwala obuvunaanyizibwa ku nnyumba ya Mukama; oteekwa okuteeka omulalu yenna eyefuula nga nnabbi mu nvuba ne mu masamba.
27 Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself a prophet to you,
Noolwekyo lwaki tokangavudde Yeremiya ow’e Yanasosi, eyefuula nnabbi wakati mu mmwe?
28 because he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, The captivity is long. Build houses, and dwell in them. Plant gardens, and eat their fruit?”’”
Atuweerezza obubaka buno mu Babulooni ng’agamba nti, Obuwaŋŋanguse bwammwe bujja kubeera bwa bbanga ddene. Noolwekyo mwezimbire amayumba mutereere mu nsi, mulime ennimiro mulye ebibala byamu.’”
29 Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the hearing of Jeremiah the prophet.
Wabula Zeffaniya kabona nasomera nnabbi Yeremiya ebbaluwa eno.
30 Then the LORD’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,
Awo ekigambo kya Mukama ne kijjira Yeremiya nti,
31 “Send to all of the captives, saying, ‘The LORD says concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: “Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I did not send him, and he has caused you to trust in a lie,”
“Muweereze obubaka buno eri abawaŋŋanguse nti, ‘Kino Mukama ky’agamba ku Semaaya Omunekeramu. Kubanga Semaaya yakuwa obunnabbi, wadde nga ssamutuma, era akutuusizza ku kwesiga eby’obulimba,
32 therefore the LORD says, “Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his offspring. He will not have a man to dwell among this people. He will not see the good that I will do to my people,” says the LORD, “because he has spoken rebellion against the LORD.”’”
kino Mukama ky’agamba nti, Ddala ddala ndibonereza Semaaya Omunekeramu n’abantu b’omu nju ye. Tewaliba n’omu alisigalawo ku bantu be, wadde aliraba ebirungi bye ndikolera abantu bange, kubanga ayigirizza abantu okunjeemera, bw’ayogera Mukama.’”
