Hebrews 8
1 Now in the things which we are saying, the main point is this: we have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
Le point capital de ce que nous venons de dire, c'est que nous avons un souverain sacrificateur, qui s'est assis à la droite du trône de la majesté divine dans les cieux,
2 a servant of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord pitched, not man.
comme ministre du sanctuaire et du véritable tabernacle dressé par le Seigneur, et non par un homme.
3 For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer.
Tout souverain sacrificateur est établi pour offrir des dons et des sacrifices; il faut donc que celui-là aussi ait quelque chose à offrir.
4 For if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, seeing there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law,
S'il était sur la terre, il ne serait pas même sacrificateur, puisqu'il s'y trouve des sacrificateurs chargés d'offrir des dons prescrits par la loi
5 who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses was warned by God when he was about to make the tabernacle, for he said, “See, you shall make everything according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain.”
et de célébrer un culte, qui n'est que l'image et l'ombre des choses célestes, comme Moïse en fut divinement instruit, lorsqu'il allait dresser le tabernacle; Aie soin, lui fut-il dit, de tout exécuter suivant le modèle qui t'a été montré sur la montagne.»
6 But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which on better promises has been given as law.
Mais notre souverain sacrificateur a obtenu un ministère d'autant plus excellent, qu'il est médiateur d'une meilleure alliance, établie sur de meilleures promesses.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.
Car si la première alliance avait été sans défaut, il n'y aurait pas eu lieu d'en établir une seconde.
8 For finding fault with them, he said, “Behold, the days are coming”, says the Lord, “that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
Or, il y a bien un reproche dans ces paroles que Dieu adresse aux Juifs: «Voici que les jours viennent, dit le Seigneur, où je traiterai avec la maison d'Israël et la maison de Juda une alliance nouvelle,
9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they did not continue in my covenant, and I disregarded them,” says the Lord.
non pas une alliance comme celle que je fis avec leurs pères, au jour où je les pris par la main pour les retirer du pays d'Egypte. Puisqu'ils n'ont pas persévéré dans mon alliance, moi, je les ai abandonnés, dit le Seigneur.
10 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says the Lord: “I will put my laws into their mind; I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
Voici l'alliance que je traiterai avec la maison d'Israël après ces jours-là, dit le Seigneur: Je mettrai mes lois dans leur esprit, et je les graverai dans leur coeur; je serai leur Dieu, et ils seront mon peuple.
11 They will not teach every man his fellow citizen and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all will know me, from their least to their greatest.
Aucun d'eux n'instruira son concitoyen, ni aucun son frère, en disant: Connais le Seigneur! Car tous me connaîtront, depuis le plus petit d'entre eux jusqu'au plus grand,
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more.”
parce que je pardonnerai leurs iniquités, et je ne me souviendrai plus de leurs péchés, »
13 In that he says, “A new covenant”, he has made the first obsolete. But that which is becoming obsolete and grows aged is near to vanishing away.
En appelant nouvelle cette alliance, il a déclaré ancienne la première; or, ce qui est devenu ancien, ce qui a vieilli, est près de disparaître.
