Galatians 4
1 But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is lord of all,
Mas digo: Entre tanto que el heredero es niño, en nada difiere del siervo, aunque es señor de todo.
2 but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.
Antes está debajo de la mano de tutores y curadores hasta el tiempo señalado por el padre.
3 So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.
Así también nosotros, cuando éramos niños, estábamos sujetos a servidumbre debajo de los elementos del mundo.
4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,
Mas venido el cumplimiento del tiempo, Dios envió a su Hijo, hecho de mujer, hecho debajo de la ley;
5 that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as children.
Para que redimiese los que estaban debajo de la ley, a fin de que recibiésemos la adopción de hijos.
6 And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!”
Y por cuanto sois hijos, envió Dios el Espíritu de su Hijo en vuestros corazones, el cual clama: Abba. Padre.
7 So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Así que ya no eres más siervo, sino hijo; y si hijo, también heredero de Dios por Cristo.
8 However at that time, not knowing God, you were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods.
Empero entonces, cuando no conocíais a Dios, servíais a los que por naturaleza no son dioses;
9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, why do you turn back again to the weak and miserable elemental principles, to which you desire to be in bondage all over again?
Mas ahora habiendo conocido a Dios, o más bien siendo conocidos de Dios, ¿cómo es que os volvéis de nuevo a los flacos y necesitados rudimentos, a los cuales queréis volver a servir?
10 You observe days, months, seasons, and years.
Guardáis días, y meses, y tiempos, y años.
11 I am afraid for you, that I might have wasted my labor for you.
Miedo tengo de vosotros, de que no haya yo trabajado en vano en vosotros.
12 I beg you, brothers, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong,
Os ruego, hermanos, que seáis como yo; porque yo soy como vosotros: ningún agravio me habéis hecho.
13 but you know that because of weakness in the flesh I preached the Good News to you the first time.
Vosotros sabéis, que en flaqueza de la carne os anuncié el evangelio al principio.
14 That which was a temptation to you in my flesh, you did not despise nor reject; but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
Empero mi tentación que fue en mi carne no desechasteis ni menospreciasteis; antes me recibisteis como a un ángel de Dios, como al mismo Cristo Jesús.
15 What was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.
¿Dónde está, pues, vuestra bienaventuranza? porque yo os doy testimonio, que si hubiera sido posible, vuestros mismos ojos hubierais sacado para dármelos.
16 So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
¿Me he hecho pues vuestro enemigo, diciéndoos la verdad?
17 They zealously seek you in no good way. No, they desire to alienate you, that you may seek them.
Ellos tienen zelo por vosotros, mas no bien; antes os quieren separar de nosotros para que vosotros tengáis zelo por ellos.
18 But it is always good to be zealous in a good cause, and not only when I am present with you.
Bueno es ser zelosos, mas en bien siempre; y no solamente cuando estoy presente con vosotros.
19 My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ is formed in you—
Hijitos míos, por quienes vuelvo otra vez a estar en dolores de parto, hasta que Cristo sea formado en vosotros:
20 but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.
Querría estar presente con vosotros ahora, y mudar mi voz; porque estoy perplejo acerca de vosotros.
21 Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, do not you listen to the law?
Decídme, los que queréis estar debajo de la ley, ¿no oís a la ley?
22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant, and one by the free woman.
Porque escrito está: Que Abraham tuvo dos hijos: uno de la sierva, y uno de la libre.
23 However, the son by the servant was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise.
Mas el que era de la sierva, nació según la carne; el que era de la libre, nació por la promesa:
24 These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to bondage, which is Hagar.
Las cuales cosas son una alegoría; porque estos son los dos conciertos. El uno del monte de Sina, que engendra para servidumbre, el cual es Agar.
25 For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to the Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in bondage with her children.
Porque Agar es Sina, monte de Arabia, el cual corresponde a la Jerusalem que ahora es, la cual está en servidumbre con sus hijos.
26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Mas aquella Jerusalem que está arriba, libre es; la cual es la madre de todos nosotros.
27 For it is written, “Rejoice, you barren who do not bear. Break out and shout, you who do not travail. For the desolate women have more children than her who has a husband.”
Porque está escrito: Alégrate estéril, que no pares; rompe en alabanzas y clama, tú que no estás de parto; porque más son los hijos de la desamparada, que de la que tiene marido.
28 Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise.
Así que, hermanos, nosotros, como Isaac, somos hijos de la promesa.
29 But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now.
Empero como entonces el que nació según la carne, perseguía al que nació según el Espíritu; así también ahora.
30 However, what does the Scripture say? “Throw out the servant and her son, for the son of the servant will not inherit with the son of the free woman.”
Mas ¿qué dice la Escritura? Echa fuera a la sierva y a su hijo; porque no será heredero el hijo de la sierva con el hijo de la libre.
31 So then, brothers, we are not children of a servant, but of the free woman.
De manera que, hermanos, no somos hijos de la sierva, sino de la libre.
