< Galatians 4 >

1 But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is lord of all,
Kinbꞌij xuqujeꞌ, ri echaꞌnel are kꞌa nitzꞌ na, xaq e junam rukꞌ ri patanijel ri kꞌo pa ri ja, pune ri akꞌal are ajchoqꞌe ronojel ri jastaq.
2 but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.
Xane chajital kumal ri iꞌlol taq rech kꞌa jampaꞌ katzꞌaqat na ri junabꞌ ri karaj ri utat.
3 So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.
Je xuqujeꞌ uj, are majaꞌ qetaꞌm uwach ri Cristo, uj kꞌo chuxeꞌ ri jatꞌibꞌal rech ri uwachulew.
4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,
Are xtzꞌaqat ri qꞌotaj, ri Dios xutaq loq ri Ukꞌojol, ri xkꞌiyik che jun ixoq xuqujeꞌ chuxeꞌ ri taqanik.
5 that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as children.
Rech jeriꞌ kekꞌam apanoq ri e kꞌo chuxeꞌ ri taqanik, rech kuꞌx alkꞌwaꞌlaxelabꞌ.
6 And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!”
Rumal kꞌu che ri ixralkꞌwaꞌl chi ri Dios, ri Dios xutaq loq ri Uxlabꞌixel rech ri Ukꞌojol pa taq iwanimaꞌ rech jeriꞌ kixkwinik kibꞌij: ¡Tat!
7 So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Xaq jeriꞌ man at patanijel ta chik, xane at ralkꞌwaꞌl chi ri Dios, jeriꞌ rumal ri Dios xubꞌano echaꞌnel chawe.
8 However at that time, not knowing God, you were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods.
Ojer are majaꞌ iwetaꞌm uwach ri Dios, are kipatanij ri man e dios taj.
9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, why do you turn back again to the weak and miserable elemental principles, to which you desire to be in bondage all over again?
Kamik kꞌut chi iwetaꞌm chi uwach ri Dios, o pa juleꞌ taq tzij chik ri Dios xretaꞌmaj iwach, ¿jas kꞌu che kiwaj kixtzalij kanoq chuxeꞌ ri chuqꞌabꞌ ri karaj kubꞌan rech piꞌwiꞌ?
10 You observe days, months, seasons, and years.
Ri ix xaq jeꞌ nim tajin kiwil ri qꞌij, ri ikꞌ xuqujeꞌ ri junabꞌ rech taq ri nimaqꞌij.
11 I am afraid for you, that I might have wasted my labor for you.
Kinxiꞌj wibꞌ are kinchomaj iwij, rukꞌ jubꞌiqꞌ man kꞌo ta xutayij ri xinchakuj iwukꞌ.
12 I beg you, brothers, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong,
Wachalal kixinbꞌochiꞌj rech qas je kixuxik jetaq ri in, jeriꞌ rumal in xuqujeꞌ je xinuxik jetaq ri ix. Kinbꞌij we riꞌ, man xa ta rumal ibꞌanom kꞌax chwe.
13 but you know that because of weakness in the flesh I preached the Good News to you the first time.
Jeriꞌ rumal iwetaꞌm chi rumal rech jun yabꞌil pa ri nutyoꞌjal, xintzijoj ri utz laj tzij chiꞌwe.
14 That which was a temptation to you in my flesh, you did not despise nor reject; but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
Pune kꞌax xiriq wukꞌ rumal ri yabꞌilal ri kꞌo chwe, man xiniwetzelaj taj, xane je xibꞌan chinukꞌamawaꞌxik jetaq jun ángel rech ri Dios, jetaq ta ne ri Cristo Jesús.
15 What was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.
Je kꞌu riꞌ ¿jas kꞌu xkꞌulmatajik rukꞌ ri kiꞌkotemal ri xinaꞌo? Qas tzij wi, xinwilo chi we ta xixkwinik, xiwesaj ta riꞌ ri ibꞌoqꞌoch rech xiya chwe.
16 So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
¿La xa kꞌu xibꞌan ikꞌulel chwe rumal xinbꞌij ri qas tzij chiꞌwe?
17 They zealously seek you in no good way. No, they desire to alienate you, that you may seek them.
Ri e winaq ri kakibꞌij chi kel kikꞌuꞌx chiꞌwe, man tzij taq chi qas are kakaj ri utzilal chiꞌwe. Are kakaj kixkiqꞌat chaqe rech kixeꞌ kukꞌ.
18 But it is always good to be zealous in a good cause, and not only when I am present with you.
Utz riꞌ we amaqꞌel kel ukꞌuꞌx jun che jun chik, man xwi ta are in kꞌo iwukꞌ.
19 My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ is formed in you—
Alaj taq walkꞌwaꞌl, kinnaꞌ chi junmul qꞌoxom iwumal iwe jetaq ri jun nan ri kakꞌojiꞌ ral, kꞌa jampaꞌ katzꞌaqat na ri Cristo pa iwanimaꞌ.
20 but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.
Are kawaj we ta in kꞌo apanoq iwukꞌ rech qas ko kixinchꞌabꞌej, jeriꞌ rumal qas kinmayijanik rumal ri kixnoꞌjinik.
21 Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, do not you listen to the law?
Chibꞌijmpe ix chwe, ri kiwaj kixkꞌojiꞌk chuxeꞌ ri taqanik: ¿La man kꞌu itatabꞌem ri kubꞌij ri taqanik?
22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant, and one by the free woman.
Ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik kubꞌij chi ri Abraham xekꞌojiꞌ e kebꞌ ukꞌojol, jun rukꞌ ri patanijel xuqujeꞌ jun rukꞌ ri qas rixoqil.
23 However, the son by the servant was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise.
Ri ral ri patanijel xalaxik xaq pa ri tyoꞌjal, are kꞌu ri ral ri qas ixoqilom, xalaxik rumal jeriꞌ bꞌiꞌtal loq.
24 These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to bondage, which is Hagar.
We xtzijox loq riꞌ, jun kꞌutbꞌal, jeriꞌ rumal we kebꞌ ixoqibꞌ riꞌ are ri kebꞌ chꞌekom tzij: jun kape je laꞌ puꞌwiꞌ ri juyubꞌ Sinaí, e kꞌo ral rech kuꞌx patanijelabꞌ, ri ubꞌiꞌ ri ixoq riꞌ are Agar.
25 For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to the Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in bondage with her children.
Jeriꞌ rumal ri Agar are karetwachij ri juyubꞌ ri kꞌo pa Arabia, are ri Jerusalén rech kamik. Jeriꞌ rumal areꞌ xuqujeꞌ ri e ral e kꞌo chuxeꞌ ri taqanik.
26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Are kꞌu ri Sara are karetwachij ri kꞌakꞌ chꞌekom tzij, ri karetwachij ri Jerusalén ri kꞌo chikaj, are wa ri qatinimit uj ri man uj jatꞌital ta chik.
27 For it is written, “Rejoice, you barren who do not bear. Break out and shout, you who do not travail. For the desolate women have more children than her who has a husband.”
Jeriꞌ rumal ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik kubꞌij: Chatkiꞌkotoq at ixoq ri man e kꞌolinaq taj awal pa ri uwachulew, at ri man xanaꞌ ta wi ri qꞌoxom jetaq ri kunaꞌ jun ixoq are kakꞌojiꞌ jun ral; Jeriꞌ rumal sibꞌalaj e kꞌi na ri awal kekꞌojiꞌ cho ri e ral ri kꞌulanik ixoq.
28 Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise.
Xaq jeriꞌ Qachalal, uj uj ralkꞌwaꞌl ri tzujtal loq, jetaq ri Isaac.
29 But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now.
Are kꞌu ri alkꞌwaꞌlaxel ri xkꞌiy pa ri tyoꞌjal, kubꞌan kꞌax che ri xkꞌiy pa ri Uxlabꞌal, xaq jeꞌ kakꞌulmataj we riꞌ kamik.
30 However, what does the Scripture say? “Throw out the servant and her son, for the son of the servant will not inherit with the son of the free woman.”
¿Jas kꞌu kubꞌij ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik? Chawesaj bꞌik ri patanijel rachiꞌl ri ral, jeriꞌ rumal man junam ta ri kechabꞌal, ri ral ri patanijel rukꞌ ri ral ri qas ixoqilom.
31 So then, brothers, we are not children of a servant, but of the free woman.
Xaq jeriꞌ Qachalal, man uj ral ta ri ixoq patanijel xane uj ral ri qas ixoqilom.
