Exodus 9
1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me.
主はモーセに言われた、「パロのもとに行って、彼に言いなさい、『ヘブルびとの神、主はこう仰せられる、「わたしの民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。
2 For if you refuse to let them go, and hold them still,
あなたがもし彼らを去らせることを拒んで、なお彼らを留めおくならば、
3 behold, the LORD’s hand is on your livestock which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks with a very grievous pestilence.
主の手は最も激しい疫病をもって、野にいるあなたの家畜、すなわち馬、ろば、らくだ、牛、羊の上に臨むであろう。
4 The LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt; and nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.”’”
しかし、主はイスラエルの家畜と、エジプトの家畜を区別され、すべてイスラエルの人々に属するものには一頭も死ぬものがないであろう」と』」。
5 The LORD appointed a set time, saying, “Tomorrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land.”
主は、また、時を定めて仰せられた、「あす、主はこのことを国に行うであろう」。
6 The LORD did that thing on the next day; and all the livestock of Egypt died, but of the livestock of the children of Israel, not one died.
あくる日、主はこのことを行われたので、エジプトびとの家畜はみな死んだ。しかし、イスラエルの人々の家畜は一頭も死ななかった。
7 Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not so much as one of the livestock of the Israelites dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was stubborn, and he did not let the people go.
パロは人をつかわして見させたが、イスラエルの家畜は一頭も死んでいなかった。それでもパロの心はかたくなで、民を去らせなかった。
8 The LORD said to Moses and to Aaron, “Take handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh.
主はモーセとアロンに言われた、「あなたがたは、かまどのすすを両手いっぱい取り、それをモーセはパロの目の前で天にむかって、まき散らしなさい。
9 It shall become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and shall be boils and blisters breaking out on man and on animal, throughout all the land of Egypt.”
それはエジプトの全国にわたって、細かいちりとなり、エジプト全国で人と獣に付いて、うみの出るはれものとなるであろう」。
10 They took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward the sky; and it became boils and blisters breaking out on man and on animal.
そこで彼らは、かまどのすすを取ってパロの前に立ち、モーセは天にむかってこれをまき散らしたので、人と獣に付いて、うみの出るはれものとなった。
11 The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians.
魔術師らは、はれもののためにモーセの前に立つことができなかった。はれものが魔術師らと、すべてのエジプトびとに生じたからである。
12 The LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them, as the LORD had spoken to Moses.
しかし、主はパロの心をかたくなにされたので、彼は主がモーセに語られたように、彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。
13 The LORD said to Moses, “Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me.
主はまたモーセに言われた、「朝早く起き、パロの前に立って、彼に言いなさい、『ヘブルびとの神、主はこう仰せられる、「わたしの民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。
14 For this time I will send all my plagues against your heart, against your officials, and against your people; that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.
わたしは、こんどは、もろもろの災を、あなたと、あなたの家来と、あなたの民にくだし、わたしに並ぶものが全地にないことを知らせるであろう。
15 For now I would have stretched out my hand, and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth;
わたしがもし、手をさし伸べ、疫病をもって、あなたと、あなたの民を打っていたならば、あなたは地から断ち滅ぼされていたであろう。
16 but indeed for this cause I have made you stand: to show you my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth,
しかし、わたしがあなたをながらえさせたのは、あなたにわたしの力を見させるため、そして、わたしの名が全地に宣べ伝えられるためにほかならない。
17 because you still exalt yourself against my people, that you will not let them go.
それに、あなたはなお、わたしの民にむかって、おのれを高くし、彼らを去らせようとしない。
18 Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now.
ゆえに、あすの今ごろ、わたしは恐ろしく大きな雹を降らせるであろう。それはエジプトの国が始まった日から今まで、かつてなかったほどのものである。
19 Now therefore command that all of your livestock and all that you have in the field be brought into shelter. The hail will come down on every man and animal that is found in the field, and is not brought home, and they will die.”’”
それゆえ、いま、人をやって、あなたの家畜と、あなたが野にもっているすべてのものを、のがれさせなさい。人も獣も、すべて野にあって家に帰らないものは降る雹に打たれて死ぬであろう」と』」。
20 Those who feared the LORD’s word among the servants of Pharaoh made their servants and their livestock flee into the houses.
パロの家来のうち、主の言葉をおそれる者は、そのしもべと家畜を家にのがれさせたが、
21 Whoever did not respect the LORD’s word left his servants and his livestock in the field.
主の言葉を意にとめないものは、そのしもべと家畜を野に残しておいた。
22 The LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man, and on animal, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.”
主はモーセに言われた、「あなたの手を天にむかってさし伸べ、エジプトの全国にわたって、エジプトの地にいる人と獣と畑のすべての青物の上に雹を降らせなさい」。
23 Moses stretched out his rod toward the heavens, and the LORD sent thunder and hail; and lightning flashed down to the earth. The LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt.
モーセが天にむかってつえをさし伸べると、主は雷と雹をおくられ、火は地にむかって、はせ下った。こうして主は、雹をエジプトの地に降らされた。
24 So there was very severe hail, and lightning mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
そして雹が降り、雹の間に火がひらめき渡った。雹は恐ろしく大きく、エジプト全国には、国をなしてこのかた、かつてないものであった。
25 The hail struck throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and animal; and the hail struck every herb of the field, and broke every tree of the field.
雹はエジプト全国にわたって、すべて畑にいる人と獣を打った。雹はまた畑のすべての青物を打ち、野のもろもろの木を折り砕いた。
26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no hail.
ただイスラエルの人々のいたゴセンの地には、雹が降らなかった。
27 Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “I have sinned this time. The LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.
そこで、パロは人をつかわし、モーセとアロンを召して言った、「わたしはこんどは罪を犯した。主は正しく、わたしと、わたしの民は悪い。
28 Pray to the LORD; for there has been enough of mighty thunderings and hail. I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.”
主に祈願してください。この雷と雹はもうじゅうぶんです。わたしはあなたがたを去らせます。もはやとどまらなくてもよろしい」。
29 Moses said to him, “As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands to the LORD. The thunders shall cease, and there will not be any more hail; that you may know that the earth is the LORD’s.
モーセは彼に言った、「わたしは町を出ると、すぐ、主にむかってわたしの手を伸べひろげます。すると雷はやみ、雹はもはや降らなくなり、あなたは、地が主のものであることを知られましょう。
30 But as for you and your servants, I know that you do not yet fear the LORD God.”
しかし、あなたとあなたの家来たちは、なお、神なる主を恐れないことを、わたしは知っています」。
31 The flax and the barley were struck, for the barley had ripened and the flax was blooming.
亜麻と大麦は打ち倒された。大麦は穂を出し、亜麻は花が咲いていたからである。
32 But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they had not grown up.
小麦とスペルタ麦はおくてであるため打ち倒されなかった。
33 Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread out his hands to the LORD; and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on the earth.
モーセはパロのもとを去り、町を出て、主にむかって手を伸べひろげたので、雷と雹はやみ、雨は地に降らなくなった。
34 When Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders had ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.
ところがパロは雨と雹と雷がやんだのを見て、またも罪を犯し、心をかたくなにした。彼も家来も、そうであった。
35 The heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the children of Israel go, just as the LORD had spoken through Moses.
すなわちパロは心をかたくなにし、主がモーセによって語られたように、イスラエルの人々を去らせなかった。
