Ephesians 5

1 Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.

Ko ia ke faʻifaʻitaki ʻakimoutolu ki he ʻOtua, ʻo taau mo e fānau ʻofeina;

2 Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.

Pea ʻaʻeva ʻi he ʻofa, ʻo hangē ko e ʻofeina ʻakitautolu ʻe Kalaisi, ʻo ne foaki ia koeʻuhi ko kitautolu ko e hifo mo e feilaulau ki he ʻOtua ko e meʻa namu kakala.

3 But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;

Ka ko e feʻauaki, mo e ʻuli kotoa pē, mo e manumanu, ke ʻoua naʻa lea tuʻo taha ki ai ʻiate kimoutolu, ʻo hangē ko ia ʻoku taau mo e kāinga māʻoniʻoni;

4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate, but rather giving of thanks.

Pea ko e fakalielia, mo e talanoa launoa, mo e fiengutuhua, ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai lelei: kae lelei lahi ʻae fakafetaʻi.

5 Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man (who is an idolater), has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.

He ʻoku mou ʻilo eni, ʻoku ʻikai ha feʻauaki, pe ha taha ʻuli, pe ha tangata manumanu, ʻaia ko e tauhi tamapua, te ne maʻu ha tofiʻa ʻi he puleʻanga ʻo Kalaisi mo e ʻOtua.

6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.

‌ʻOua naʻa kākaaʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻe ha tokotaha ʻaki ʻae ngaahi lea launoa: he koeʻuhi ko e ngaahi meʻa ni ʻoku hoko ai ʻae houhau ʻoe ʻOtua ki he fānau talangataʻa.

7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Ko ia ke ʻoua naʻa mou kau fakataha mo kinautolu.

8 For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,

He naʻa mou fakapoʻuli ʻi muʻa, ka kuo mou māmangia eni ʻi he ʻEiki: mou ʻaʻeva ʻo taau mo e fānau ʻoe maama:

9 for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,

(He ko e fua ʻoe Laumālie ʻoku ʻi he ngaahi angalelei kotoa pē mo e māʻoniʻoni mo e moʻoni: )

10 proving what is well pleasing to the Lord.

‌ʻO ʻilo ai ʻaia ʻoku lelei ki he ʻEiki.

11 Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them.

Pea ʻoua naʻa mou kau ʻi he ngaahi ngāue taʻefua ʻoe fakapoʻuli, ka mou valokiʻi muʻa ia.

12 For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.

He ko e meʻa fakamā ke lea ki he ngaahi meʻa ʻoku fai ʻekinautolu ʻi he fufū.

13 But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.

Ka ko e ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē kuo hā kuo fakahā ia ʻe he maama: he ko ia kotoa pē ʻoku fakahā, ko e maama ia.

14 Therefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe ia, “ʻĀ, ʻa koe ʻoku mohe, pea tuʻu hake mei he mate, pea ʻe foaki ʻe Kalaisi ʻae maama kiate koe.”

15 Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise,

Ko ia mou vakai ke mou ʻaʻeva fakaʻehiʻehi, ʻikai hangē ko e kau vale, kae hangē ko e poto,

16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

‌ʻO ngāueʻaki ʻae kuonga ke lelei, koeʻuhi ʻoku kovi ʻae ngaahi ʻaho.

17 Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Ko ia ke ʻoua naʻa mou taʻepoto, ka mou ʻilo pe ko e hā ʻae finangalo ʻoe ʻEiki.

18 Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

Pea ʻoua naʻa konā ʻi he uaine, ʻaia ʻoku tupu ai ʻae fakalielia; ka ke fonu ʻakimoutolu ʻi he Laumālie;

19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

‌ʻO fealēleaʻaki ʻakimoutolu ʻi he ngaahi saame, mo e himi, mo e hiva fakalaumālie, ʻo hiva ke ʻai ʻae mālie ʻi homou loto ki he ʻEiki;

20 giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;

‌ʻO ʻatu ʻae fakafetaʻi maʻuaipē ʻi he ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē ki he ʻOtua ko e Tamai ʻi he huafa ʻo hotau ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi;

21 subjecting yourselves to one another in the fear of Christ.

‌ʻO fefakavaivaiʻaki ʻakimoutolu kiate kimoutolu ʻi he manavahē ki he ʻOtua.

22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

‌ʻAe kau fefine, mou fakavaivai ʻakimoutolu ki homou husepāniti ʻomoutolu, ʻo hangē ki he ʻEiki.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body.

He ko e ʻulu ʻoe fefine ʻae husepāniti, ʻio, ʻo hangē ko e ʻulu ʻa Kalaisi ki he siasi: pea ko e fakamoʻui ia ʻoe sino.

24 But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything.

Ko ia ʻo hangē ʻoku anganofo ʻae siasi kia Kalaisi, ke pehē ʻae kau fefine ki honau husepāniti ʻonautolu ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē.

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her,

‌ʻAe kau tangata, mou ʻofa ki homou uaifi, ʻo hangē ko e ʻofa ʻa Kalaisi ki he siasi, ʻo ne foaki ia koeʻuhi ko ia;

26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,

Koeʻuhi ke ne fakatapui mo fakamaʻa ia ʻi he fufulu ʻoe vai ʻi he folofola,

27 that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without defect.

Koeʻuhi ke ne ʻatu ia kiate ia ko e siasi kuo teunga lahi, pea ʻikai hano ʻila, pe ha feʻufeʻu, pe ha meʻa pehē ʻe taha; ka koeʻuhi ke māʻoniʻoni pea taʻehanomele.

28 Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.

‌ʻOku totonu ke ʻofa ʻae kau tangata ki honau uaifi ʻo hangē ko honau sino ʻonautolu, Ko ia ʻoku ʻofa ki hono uaifi, ʻoku ʻofa ia kiate ia.

29 For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly,

He ʻoku teʻeki ha tangata ʻe fehiʻa ki hono sino ʻoʻona; ka ʻoku fafanga ʻo fakamoʻui ia, ʻo hangē ko e ʻEiki ki he siasi:

30 because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.

He ko e ngaahi kupu ʻakitautolu ʻo hono sino, ʻo hono kakano, mo hono hui.

31 “For this cause a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife. Then the two will become one flesh.”

“Ko e meʻa ni ʻe tukuange ai ʻe he tangata ʻa ʻene tamai mo ʻene faʻē, pea hoko ia ki hono uaifi, pea ʻe kakano taha pe ʻakinaua.”

32 This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and the assembly.

Ko e meʻa fakalilolilo lahi eni: ka ʻoku kau ʻeku lea kia Kalaisi mo e siasi.

33 Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Ka mou taki taha ʻofa ʻae tangata ki hono uaifi ʻo hangē pe ko ia; pea ke fakaʻapaʻapa ʻae fefine foki ki hono husepāniti.
