Amos 9

1 I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and he said, “Strike the tops of the pillars, that the thresholds may shake. Break them in pieces on the head of all of them. I will kill the last of them with the sword. Not one of them will flee away. Not one of them will escape.

わたしは祭壇のかたわらに立っておられる主を見た。主は言われた、「柱の頭を打って、敷居を震わせ、これを打ち砕いて、すべての民の頭の上に落ちかからせよ。その残った者を、わたしはつるぎで殺し、そのひとりも逃げおおす者はなく、のがれうる者はない。

2 Though they dig into Sheol (Sheol h7585), there my hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, there I will bring them down.

たとい彼らは陰府に掘り下っても、わたしの手はこれをそこから引き出す。たとい彼らは天によじのぼっても、わたしはそこからこれを引きおろす。 (Sheol h7585)

3 Though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out from there; and though they be hidden from my sight in the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them.

たとい彼らはカルメルの頂に隠れても、わたしはこれを捜して、そこから引き出す。たとい彼らはわたしの目をのがれて、海の底に隠れても、わたしはへびに命じて、その所でこれをかませる。

4 Though they go into captivity before their enemies, there I will command the sword, and it will kill them. I will set my eyes on them for evil, and not for good.

たとい彼らは捕われて、その敵の前に行っても、わたしはその所でつるぎに命じて、これを殺させる。わたしは彼らの上にわたしの目を注ぐ、それは災のためであって、幸のためではない」。

5 For the Lord, the GOD of Armies, is he who touches the land and it melts, and all who dwell in it will mourn; and it will rise up wholly like the River, and will sink again, like the River of Egypt.

万軍の神、主が地に触れられると、地は溶け、その中に住む者はみな嘆き、地はみなナイル川のようにわきあがり、エジプトのナイル川のようにまた沈む。

6 It is he who builds his rooms in the heavens, and has founded his vault on the earth; he who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth—the LORD is his name.

主はご自分の高殿を天に築き、大空の基を地の上にすえ、海の水を呼んで、地のおもてに注がれる。その名は主ととなえられる。

7 Are you not like the children of the Ethiopians to me, children of Israel?” says the LORD. “Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt, and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?

主は言われる、「イスラエルの子らよ、あなたがたはわたしにとってエチオピヤびとのようではないか。わたしはイスラエルをエジプトの国から、ペリシテびとをカフトルから、スリヤびとをキルから導き上ったではないか。

8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the surface of the earth, except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” says the LORD.

見よ、主なる神の目はこの罪を犯した国の上に注がれている。わたしはこれを地のおもてから断ち滅ぼす。しかし、わたしはヤコブの家をことごとくは滅ぼさない」と主は言われる。

9 “For behold, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all the nations as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet not the least kernel will fall on the earth.

「見よ、わたしは命じて、人がふるいで物をふるうように、わたしはイスラエルの家を万国民のうちでふるう。ひと粒も地に落ちることはない。

10 All the sinners of my people will die by the sword, who say, ‘Evil will not overtake nor meet us.’

わが民の罪びと、すなわち『災はわれわれに近づかない、われわれに臨まない』と言う者どもはみな、つるぎで殺される。

11 In that day I will raise up the tent of David who is fallen and close up its breaches, and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old,

その日には、わたしはダビデの倒れた幕屋を興し、その破損を繕い、そのくずれた所を興し、これを昔の時のように建てる。

12 that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by my name,” says the LORD who does this.

これは彼らがエドムの残った者、およびわが名をもって呼ばれるすべての国民を所有するためである」とこの事をなされる主は言われる。

13 “Behold, the days come,” says the LORD, “that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the one treading grapes him who sows seed; and sweet wine will drip from the mountains, and flow from the hills.

主は言われる、「見よ、このような時が来る。その時には、耕す者は刈る者に相継ぎ、ぶどうを踏む者は種まく者に相継ぐ。もろもろの山にはうまい酒がしたたり、もろもろの丘は溶けて流れる。

14 I will bring my people Israel back from captivity, and they will rebuild the ruined cities, and inhabit them; and they will plant vineyards, and drink wine from them. They shall also make gardens, and eat their fruit.

わたしはわが民イスラエルの幸福をもとに返す。彼らは荒れた町々を建てて住み、ぶどう畑を作ってその酒を飲み、園を作ってその実を食べる。

15 I will plant them on their land, and they will no more be plucked up out of their land which I have given them,” says the LORD your God.

わたしは彼らをその地に植えつける。彼らはわたしが与えた地から再び抜きとられることはない」とあなたの神、主は言われる。
