Acts 24
1 After five days, the high priest, Ananias, came down with certain elders and an orator, one Tertullus. They informed the governor against Paul.
౧ఐదు రోజుల తరువాత ప్రధాన యాజకుడు అననీయ, కొందరు పెద్దలు, తెర్తుల్లు అనే ఒక న్యాయవాది కైసరయ వచ్చి, పౌలు మీద మోపిన ఫిర్యాదును గవర్నరుకి తెలియజేశారు.
2 When he was called, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, “Seeing that by you we enjoy much peace, and that prosperity is coming to this nation by your foresight,
౨పౌలు గవర్నర్ ఎదుట నిలబడినప్పుడు తెర్తుల్లు అతని మీద నేరం మోపుతూ ఇలా అన్నాడు.
3 we accept it in all ways and in all places, most excellent Felix, with all thankfulness.
౩“మహా ఘనత వహించిన ఫేలిక్స్, పౌలు గవర్నర్ ఎదుట నిలబడినప్పుడు ఎంతో నెమ్మది అనుభవిస్తున్నామనీ, ఈ దేశ ప్రజలకు కలిగే అనేక సమస్యలు మీ ద్వారా పరిష్కారం అవుతున్నాయనీ ఒప్పుకొంటున్నాము. ఆ కారణంగా మేము అన్ని విధాలా, అన్ని చోట్లా మీ పట్ల పూర్ణ కృతజ్ఞత కలిగి ఉన్నాం.
4 But that I do not delay you, I entreat you to bear with us and hear a few words.
౪నేను మీకు ఎక్కువ విసుగు పుట్టించకుండా క్లుప్తంగా చెప్పే విషయాలను మీరు సహనంతో వినాలని వేడుకొంటున్నాను.
5 For we have found this man to be a plague, an instigator of insurrections among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.
౫ఈ వ్యక్తి ఒక చీడలాంటి వాడు. భూమిపై ఉన్న యూదులందరినీ తిరుగుబాటుకు రేపుతున్నాడు. ఇతడు నజరేయులనే మతశాఖకు నాయకుడని మేము గమనించాం.
6 He even tried to profane the temple, and we arrested him.
౬పైగా ఇతడు దేవాలయాన్ని కూడా అపవిత్రం చేయడానికి ప్రయత్నించాడు. అందువలన మేము అతణ్ణి నిర్బంధించాం
౭అయితే మీ సైనికాధికారి లూసియస్ వచ్చి బలవంతంగా పౌలును మా చేతుల్లోనుంచి విడిపించి తీసుకుపోయాడు.
8 By examining him yourself you may ascertain all these things of which we accuse him.”
౮వీటిని గురించి మీరు పౌలును ప్రశ్నిస్తే మేము ఇతని మీద మోపుతున్న నేరాలన్నీ వాస్తవమని మీకే అర్థం అవుతుంది.”
9 The Jews also joined in the attack, affirming that these things were so.
౯యూదులంతా ఏకీభవించి ఈ మాటలు నిజమే అని చెప్పారు.
10 When the governor had beckoned to him to speak, Paul answered, “Because I know that you have been a judge of this nation for many years, I cheerfully make my defense,
౧౦అప్పుడు గవర్నర్, పౌలును మాట్లాడమని సైగ చేశాడు. పౌలు ఇలా అన్నాడు, “మీరు అనేక సంవత్సరాలుగా ఈ ప్రజలకు న్యాయాధిపతిగా ఉన్నారని తెలిసి నేను ధైర్యంగా జవాబు చెప్పుకుంటున్నాను.
11 seeing that you can verify that it is not more than twelve days since I went up to worship at Jerusalem.
౧౧నేను యెరూషలేములో ఆరాధించడానికి వెళ్ళి కేవలం పన్నెండు రోజులు మాత్రమే అయ్యిందని మీరు విచారించి తెలుసుకోవచ్చు.
12 In the temple they did not find me disputing with anyone or stirring up a crowd, either in the synagogues or in the city.
౧౨దేవాలయంలోగానీ, సమాజ మందిరాల్లోగానీ, పట్టణంలోగానీ, నేను ఎవరితోనైనా తర్కించడం, లేదా ప్రజల మధ్య అల్లరి రేపడం ఎవరూ చూడలేదు.
13 Nor can they prove to you the things of which they now accuse me.
౧౩వారు ఇప్పుడు నా మీద మోపే నేరాలను మీకు రుజువు పరచలేరు.
14 But this I confess to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, so I serve the God of our fathers, believing all things which are according to the law, and which are written in the prophets;
౧౪అయితే ఒక సంగతి మీ ఎదుట ఒప్పుకుంటున్నాను. ధర్మశాస్త్రంలో, ప్రవక్తల గ్రంథాల్లో రాసి ఉన్నవన్నీ నమ్మి,
15 having hope toward God, which these also themselves look for, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
౧౫నీతిపరులకూ అనీతిపరులకూ పునరుత్థానం కలుగుతుందని వీరు నమ్ముతున్నట్టుగానే నేను కూడా దేవునిలో నమ్మకముంచి, వారు మతశాఖ అని పిలిచిన ఈ మార్గంలోనే నా పూర్వీకుల దేవుణ్ణి ఆరాధిస్తున్నాను.
16 In this I also practice always having a conscience void of offense toward God and men.
౧౬ఈ విధంగా నేను దేవుని పట్లా, మనుష్యుల పట్లా ఎప్పుడూ నా మనస్సాక్షి నిర్దోషంగా ఉండేలా చూసుకుంటున్నాను.
17 Now after some years, I came to bring gifts for the needy to my nation, and offerings;
౧౭“కొన్ని సంవత్సరాలైన తరువాత నేను నా సొంత ప్రజలకి దాన ధర్మంగా డబ్బు, కానుకలు ఇవ్వడానికి వచ్చాను.
18 amid which certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, not with a mob, nor with turmoil.
౧౮నేను శుద్ధి చేసుకుని వాటిని అప్పగిస్తుండగా వీరు దేవాలయంలో నన్ను చూశారు. నేనేమీ గుంపు కూర్చలేదు, నా వలన అల్లరీ కాలేదు.
19 They ought to have been here before you and to make accusation if they had anything against me.
౧౯అయితే ఆసియ నుండి వచ్చిన కొందరు యూదులు ఉన్నారు. నామీద వారికేమైన ఉంటే వారే మీ దగ్గరికి వచ్చి నా మీద నేరం మోపి ఉండవలసింది.
20 Or else let these men themselves say what injustice they found in me when I stood before the council,
౨౦లేదా, నేను మహాసభలో నిలబడి ఉన్నప్పుడు, ‘మృతుల పునరుత్థానం గురించి నేడు మీ ఎదుట విమర్శ పాలవుతున్నాను’ అని నేను బిగ్గరగా చెప్పిన ఆ ఒక్క మాట విషయమై తప్ప నాలో మరి ఏ నేరమైనా వీరు కనిపెట్టి ఉంటే అది చెప్పవచ్చు.”
21 unless it is for this one thing that I cried standing among them, ‘Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am being judged before you today!’”
౨౧
22 But Felix, having more exact knowledge concerning the Way, deferred them, saying, “When Lysias, the commanding officer, comes down, I will decide your case.”
౨౨ఫేలిక్సుకు ఈ మార్గం గూర్చి బాగా తెలుసు. అతడు, “సహస్రాధిపతి లూసియస్ వచ్చినప్పుడు నీ సంగతి నేను విచారించి తెలుసుకుంటాను” అని చెప్పి విచారణ నిలిపివేశాడు.
23 He ordered the centurion that Paul should be kept in custody and should have some privileges, and not to forbid any of his friends to serve him or to visit him.
౨౩పౌలుని విడిగా కావలిలో ఉంచి, అతనికి పరిచారం చేయడానికి అతని బంధువుల్లో ఎవరినీ ఆటంకపరచవద్దని శతాధిపతికి ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు.
24 After some days, Felix came with Drusilla his wife, who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ Jesus.
౨౪కొన్ని రోజుల తరువాత ఫేలిక్సు యూదురాలైన ద్రుసిల్ల అనే తన భార్యతో కూడా వచ్చి పౌలును పిలిపించి, క్రీస్తు యేసులో విశ్వాసం గూర్చి అతడు బోధించగా విన్నాడు.
25 As he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was terrified, and answered, “Go your way for this time, and when it is convenient for me, I will summon you.”
౨౫అప్పుడు పౌలు నీతిని గూర్చీ ఆశానిగ్రహం గూర్చీ రాబోయే తీర్పును గూర్చీ ప్రసంగిస్తుండగా ఫేలిక్సు చాలా భయపడి, “ఇప్పటికి వెళ్ళు, నాకు సమయం దొరికినప్పుడు నిన్ను పిలిపిస్తాను” అని చెప్పాడు.
26 Meanwhile, he also hoped that money would be given to him by Paul, that he might release him. Therefore also he sent for him more often and talked with him.
౨౬తరువాత పౌలు తనకు ఏమైనా లంచం ఇస్తాడేమోనని ఆశపడి, అతణ్ణి మాటిమాటికీ పిలిపించి మాట్లాడుతూ ఉన్నాడు.
27 But when two years were fulfilled, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, and desiring to gain favor with the Jews, Felix left Paul in bonds.
౨౭రెండు సంవత్సరాల తరువాత ఫేలిక్సుకు బదులుగా పోర్కియస్ ఫేస్తు గవర్నరుగా వచ్చాడు. అప్పుడు ఫేలిక్సు యూదుల దృష్టిలో మంచివాడు అనిపించుకోవాలని, పౌలును చెరసాల్లోనే విడిచిపెట్టి వెళ్ళాడు.
