2 Peter 1
1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:
Simón Pedro, siervo y apóstol de Jesús, el Cristo, a los que habéis alcanzado fe igualmente preciosa con nosotros en la justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesús, el Cristo:
2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
Gracia y paz os sea multiplicada en el conocimiento de Dios, y de nuestro Señor Jesús.
3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue,
Como todas las cosas que pertenecen a la vida y a la piedad nos son dadas de su divina potencia, por el conocimiento de aquel que nos ha llamado por su gloria y virtud,
4 by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.
por las cuales nos son dadas preciosas y grandísimas promesas, para que por ellas fueseis hechos participantes de la naturaleza divina, habiendo huido de la corrupción que está en el mundo por la concupiscencia.
5 Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge;
Vosotros también, poniendo toda diligencia en esto mismo, mostrad en vuestra fe, virtud; y en la virtud, ciencia;
6 and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control, perseverance; and in perseverance, godliness;
y en la ciencia, templanza; y en la templanza, paciencia; y en la paciencia, temor de Dios;
7 and in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.
y en el temor de Dios, amor fraternal; y en el amor fraternal, caridad.
8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to not be idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Porque si en vosotros hay estas cosas, y abundan, no os dejarán estar ociosos, ni estériles en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesús, el Cristo.
9 For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.
Pero el que no tiene estas cosas, es ciego, y anda tentando el camino con la mano, habiendo olvidado de la purgación de sus antiguos pecados.
10 Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.
Por lo cual, hermanos, procurad tanto más de hacer firme vuestra vocación y elección; porque haciendo estas cosas, no caeréis jamás.
11 For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the consummate (aiōnios g166) Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Porque de esta manera os será abundantemente administrada la entrada en el Reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesús, el Cristo. (aiōnios g166)
12 Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them and are established in the present truth.
Por esto, yo no dejaré de amonestaros siempre de estas cosas, aunque vosotros las sepáis, y estéis confirmados en la verdad presente.
13 I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,
Porque tengo por justo, (en tanto que estoy en este tabernáculo), de incitaros con amonestación,
14 knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.
sabiendo que brevemente tengo que dejar este mi tabernáculo, como nuestro Señor Jesús el Cristo me ha declarado.
15 Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure.
También yo procuraré con diligencia, que después de mi fallecimiento, vosotros podáis tener memoria de estas cosas.
16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
Porque nosotros no os hemos dado a conocer la potencia y la venida de nuestro Señor Jesús, el Cristo, siguiendo fábulas por arte compuestas; sino como habiendo visto con nuestros propios ojos su majestad.
17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Porque él había recibido de Dios el Padre honra y gloria, cuando una tal voz fue a él enviada de la magnífica gloria: Este es el amado Hijo mío, en el cual yo me he agradado.
18 We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
Y nosotros oímos esta voz enviada del cielo, cuando estábamos juntamente con él en el Monte Santo.
19 We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts,
Tenemos también la palabra de los profetas más firme, a la cual hacéis bien de estar atentos como a una lámpara que alumbra en lugar oscuro, hasta que el día esclarezca, y el lucero de la mañana salga en vuestros corazones.
20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation.
Entendiendo primero esto, que ninguna profecía de la Escritura es de particular interpretación;
21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
porque la profecía no fue en los tiempos pasados traída por voluntad humana, sino que los santos hombres de Dios hablaron siendo inspirados del Espíritu Santo.
