2 Corinthians 10
1 Now I Paul, myself, entreat you by the humility and gentleness of Christ, I who in your presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you.
Ahora bien, yo mismo, Pablo, os ruego por la humildad y mansedumbre de Cristo, yo que en vuestra presencia soy humilde entre vosotros, pero estando ausente soy audaz para con vosotros.
2 Yes, I beg you that I may not, when present, show courage with the confidence with which I intend to be bold against some, who consider us to be walking according to the flesh.
Sí, os ruego que, estando presente, no me muestre valiente con la confianza con que pretendo serlo contra algunos, que consideran que andamos según la carne.
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh;
Porque aunque andamos en la carne, no hacemos la guerra según la carne;
4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds,
porque las armas de nuestra milicia no son de la carne, sino poderosas delante de Dios para derribar fortalezas,
5 throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
derribando imaginaciones y toda altivez que se levanta contra el conocimiento de Dios, y llevando cautivo todo pensamiento a la obediencia de Cristo,
6 and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience when your obedience is made full.
y estando listos para vengar toda desobediencia cuando vuestra obediencia sea completa.
7 Do you look at things only as they appear in front of your face? If anyone trusts in himself that he is Christ’s, let him consider this again with himself, that even as he is Christ’s, so we also are Christ’s.
¿Acaso miráis las cosas sólo como aparecen delante de vuestra cara? Si alguno confía en sí mismo que es de Cristo, que considere de nuevo esto consigo mismo, que así como él es de Cristo, también nosotros somos de Cristo.
8 For even if I boast somewhat abundantly concerning our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for casting you down, I will not be ashamed,
Pues aunque me jacte un poco de nuestra autoridad, que el Señor dio para edificaros y no para abatiros, no me avergonzaré,
9 that I may not seem as if I desire to terrify you by my letters.
para que no parezca que quiero aterrorizaros con mis cartas.
10 For, “His letters”, they say, “are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is despised.”
Porque, “Sus cartas”, dicen, “son pesadas y fuertes, pero su presencia corporal es débil, y su discurso es despreciado.”
11 Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when we are absent, such are we also in deed when we are present.
Que tal persona considere esto, que lo que somos de palabra por cartas cuando estamos ausentes, así somos también de hecho cuando estamos presentes.
12 For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves. But they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding.
Porque no nos atrevemos a contarnos ni a compararnos con algunos de los que se encomiendan a sí mismos. Pero ellos mismos, midiéndose por sí mismos y comparándose consigo mismos, no tienen entendimiento.
13 But we will not boast beyond proper limits, but within the boundaries with which God appointed to us, which reach even to you.
Pero nosotros no nos jactaremos más allá de los límites apropiados, sino dentro de los límites que Dios nos asignó, los cuales llegan hasta ustedes.
14 For we do not stretch ourselves too much, as though we did not reach to you. For we came even as far as to you with the Good News of Christ,
Porque no nos extendemos demasiado, como si no llegáramos hasta vosotros. Porque hemos llegado hasta vosotros con la Buena Nueva de Cristo,
15 not boasting beyond proper limits in other men’s labors, but having hope that as your faith grows, we will be abundantly enlarged by you in our sphere of influence,
no presumiendo más allá de los límites apropiados en las labores de otros hombres, sino teniendo la esperanza de que, a medida que crezca vuestra fe, seremos ampliados abundantemente por vosotros en nuestra esfera de influencia,
16 so as to preach the Good News even to the parts beyond you, not to boast in what someone else has already done.
para predicar la Buena Nueva incluso hasta las partes más allá de vosotros, no para presumir de lo que otro ya ha hecho.
17 But “he who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.”
Pero “el que se jacta, que se jacte en el Señor”.
18 For it is not he who commends himself who is approved, but whom the Lord commends.
Porque no es aprobado el que se encomienda a sí mismo, sino el que encomienda el Señor.
