1 Samuel 8
1 When Samuel was old, he made his sons judges over Israel.
Da aber Samuel alt ward, setzte er seine Söhne zu Richtern über Israel.
2 Now the name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second, Abijah. They were judges in Beersheba.
Sein erstgeborner Sohn hieß Joel und der andere Abia; und waren Richter zu Berseba.
3 His sons did not walk in his ways, but turned away after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice.
Aber seine Söhne wandelten nicht in seinem Wege, sondern neigeten sich zum Geiz und nahmen Geschenk und beugeten das Recht.
4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together and came to Samuel to Ramah.
Da versammelten sich alle Ältesten in Israel und kamen gen Ramath zu Samuel.
5 They said to him, “Behold, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”
Und sprachen zu ihm: Siehe, du bist alt worden, und deine Söhne wandeln nicht in deinen Wegen; so setze nun einen König über uns, der uns richte, wie alle Heiden haben.
6 But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” Samuel prayed to the LORD.
Das gefiel Samuel übel, daß sie sagten: Gib uns einen König, der uns richte. Und Samuel betete vor dem HERRN.
7 The LORD said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in all that they tell you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me as the king over them.
Der HERR aber sprach zu Samuel: Gehorche der Stimme des Volks in allem, das sie zu dir gesagt haben; denn sie haben nicht dich, sondern mich verworfen, daß ich nicht soll König über sie sein.
8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, in that they have forsaken me and served other gods, so they also do to you.
Sie tun dir, wie sie immer getan haben von dem Tage an, da ich sie aus Ägypten führete; bis auf diesen Tag, und haben mich verlassen und andern Göttern gedienet.
9 Now therefore, listen to their voice. However, you shall protest solemnly to them, and shall show them the way of the king who will reign over them.”
So gehorche nun ihrer Stimme. Doch bezeuge ihnen und verkündige ihnen das Recht des Königs, der über sie herrschen wird.
10 Samuel told all the LORD’s words to the people who asked him for a king.
Und Samuel sagte alle Worte des HERRN dem Volk, das von ihm einen König forderte.
11 He said, “This will be the way of the king who shall reign over you: he will take your sons and appoint them as his servants, for his chariots and to be his horsemen; and they will run before his chariots.
Das wird des Königs Recht sein, der über euch herrschen wird: Eure Söhne wird er nehmen zu seinem Wagen und Reitern, die vor seinem Wagen her traben,
12 He will appoint them to him for captains of thousands and captains of fifties; and he will assign some to plow his ground and to reap his harvest; and to make his instruments of war and the instruments of his chariots.
und zu Hauptleuten über tausend und über fünfzig und zu Ackerleuten, die ihm seinen Acker bauen, und zu Schnittern in seiner Ernte, und daß sie seinen Harnisch, und was zu seinem Wagen gehöret, machen.
13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers, to be cooks, and to be bakers.
Eure Töchter aber wird er nehmen, daß sie Apothekerinnen, Köchinnen und Bäckerinnen seien.
14 He will take your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, even your best, and give them to his servants.
Eure besten Äcker und Weinberge und Ölgärten wird er nehmen und seinen Knechten geben.
15 He will take one tenth of your seed and of your vineyards, and give it to his officers and to his servants.
Dazu von eurer Saat und Weinbergen wird er den Zehnten nehmen und seinen Kämmerern und Knechten geben.
16 He will take your male servants, your female servants, your best young men, and your donkeys, and assign them to his own work.
Und eure Knechte und Mägde und eure feinsten Jünglinge und eure Esel wird er nehmen und seine Geschäfte damit ausrichten.
17 He will take one tenth of your flocks; and you will be his servants.
Von euren Herden wird er den Zehnten nehmen, und ihr müsset seine Knechte sein.
18 You will cry out in that day because of your king whom you will have chosen for yourselves; and the LORD will not answer you in that day.”
Wenn ihr dann schreien werdet zu der Zeit über euren König, den ihr euch erwählet habt; so wird euch der HERR zu derselbigen Zeit nicht erhören.
19 But the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel; and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us,
Aber das Volk weigerte sich, zu gehorchen der Stimme Samuels, und sprachen: Mitnichten, sondern es soll ein König über uns sein,
20 that we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.”
daß wir seien auch wie alle andern Heiden, daß uns unser König richte und vor uns her ausziehe, wenn wir unsere Kriege führen.
21 Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the LORD.
Da gehorchte Samuel alle dem, das das Volk sagte, und sagte es vor den Ohren des HERRN.
22 The LORD said to Samuel, “Listen to their voice, and make them a king.” Samuel said to the men of Israel, “Everyone go to your own city.”
Der HERR aber sprach zu Samuel: Gehorche ihrer Stimme und mache ihnen einen König! Und Samuel sprach zu den Männern Israels: Gehet hin, ein jeglicher in seine Stadt!
