Leviticus 18
1 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
| וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר |
2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them, I am Jehovah your God.
| דבר אל בני ישראל ואמרת אלהם אני יהוה אלהיכם |
3 Ye shall not do after the doings of the land of Egypt, in which ye dwelt, and ye shall not do after the doings of the land of Canaan, where I bring you, nor shall ye walk in their statutes.
| כמעשה ארץ מצרים אשר ישבתם בה לא תעשו וכמעשה ארץ כנען אשר אני מביא אתכם שמה לא תעשו ובחקתיהם לא תלכו |
4 Ye shall do my ordinances, and ye shall keep my statutes, to walk therein. I am Jehovah your God.
| את משפטי תעשו ואת חקתי תשמרו ללכת בהם אני יהוה אלהיכם |
5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my ordinances, which if a man does, he shall live in them. I am Jehovah.
| ושמרתם את חקתי ואת משפטי אשר יעשה אתם האדם וחי בהם אני יהוה |
6 None of you shall approach to any who are near of kin to him, to uncover nakedness. I am Jehovah.
| איש איש אל כל שאר בשרו לא תקרבו לגלות ערוה אני יהוה |
7 The nakedness of thy father, even the nakedness of thy mother, thou shall not uncover. She is thy mother. Thou shall not uncover her nakedness,
| ערות אביך וערות אמך לא תגלה אמך הוא לא תגלה ערותה |
8 the nakedness of thy father's wife. It is thy father's nakedness.
| ערות אשת אביך לא תגלה ערות אביך הוא |
9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or the daughter of thy mother, whether born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shall not uncover.
| ערות אחותך בת אביך או בת אמך מולדת בית או מולדת חוץ--לא תגלה ערותן |
10 The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their nakedness thou shall not uncover, for theirs is thine own nakedness.
| ערות בת בנך או בת בתך לא תגלה ערותן כי ערותך הנה |
11 The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shall not uncover her nakedness.
| ערות בת אשת אביך מולדת אביך אחותך הוא--לא תגלה ערותה |
12 Thou shall not uncover the nakedness of thy father's sister. She is thy father's near kinswoman.
| ערות אחות אביך לא תגלה שאר אביך הוא |
13 Thou shall not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister, for she is thy mother's near kinswoman.
| ערות אחות אמך לא תגלה כי שאר אמך הוא |
14 Thou shall not uncover the nakedness of thy father's brother. Thou shall not approach to his wife. She is thine aunt.
| ערות אחי אביך לא תגלה אל אשתו לא תקרב דדתך הוא |
15 Thou shall not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter-in-law. She is thy son's wife. Thou shall not uncover her nakedness.
| ערות כלתך לא תגלה אשת בנך הוא לא תגלה ערותה |
16 Thou shall not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife. It is thy brother's nakedness.
| ערות אשת אחיך לא תגלה ערות אחיך הוא |
17 Thou shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter. Thou shall not take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness. They are near kinswomen. It is iniquity.
| ערות אשה ובתה לא תגלה את בת בנה ואת בת בתה לא תקח לגלות ערותה--שארה הנה זמה הוא |
18 And thou shall not take a wife in addition to her sister, to be a rival to her, to uncover her nakedness, besides the other in her life-time.
| ואשה אל אחתה לא תקח לצרר לגלות ערותה עליה--בחייה |
19 And thou shall not approach to a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is impure by her uncleanness.
| ואל אשה בנדת טמאתה--לא תקרב לגלות ערותה |
20 And thou shall not lie carnally with thy neighbor's wife, to defile thyself with her.
| ואל אשת עמיתך--לא תתן שכבתך לזרע לטמאה בה |
21 And thou shall not give any of thy seed to make them pass through the fire to Molech, neither shall thou profane the name of thy God. I am Jehovah.
| ומזרעך לא תתן להעביר למלך ולא תחלל את שם אלהיך אני יהוה |
22 Thou shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind. It is abomination.
| ואת זכר--לא תשכב משכבי אשה תועבה הוא |
23 And thou shall not lie with any beast to defile thyself with it, nor shall any woman stand before a beast, to lie down with it. It is a perversion.
| ובכל בהמה לא תתן שכבתך לטמאה בה ואשה לא תעמד לפני בהמה לרבעה--תבל הוא |
24 Do not defile ye yourselves in any of these things. For in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out from before you,
| אל תטמאו בכל אלה כי בכל אלה נטמאו הגוים אשר אני משלח מפניכם |
25 and the land is defiled. Therefore I visit the iniquity of it upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants.
| ותטמא הארץ ואפקד עונה עליה ותקא הארץ את ישביה |
26 Ye therefore shall keep my statutes and my ordinances, and shall not do any of these abominations, neither the home-born, nor the stranger that sojourns among you,
| ושמרתם אתם את חקתי ואת משפטי ולא תעשו מכל התועבת האלה האזרח והגר הגר בתוככם |
27 (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and the land is defiled),
| כי את כל התועבת האל עשו אנשי הארץ אשר לפניכם ותטמא הארץ |
28 that the land not vomit you out also, when ye defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.
| ולא תקיא הארץ אתכם בטמאכם אתה כאשר קאה את הגוי אשר לפניכם |
29 For whoever shall do any of these abominations, even the souls that do them shall be cut off from among their people.
| כי כל אשר יעשה מכל התועבת האלה--ונכרתו הנפשות העשת מקרב עמם |
30 Therefore ye shall keep my charge, that ye not practice any of these abominable customs, which were practiced before you, and that ye not defile yourselves in it. I am Jehovah your God.
| ושמרתם את משמרתי לבלתי עשות מחקות התועבת אשר נעשו לפניכם ולא תטמאו בהם אני יהוה אלהיכם |
