Psalmen 16
1 Een gouden kleinood van David. Bewaar mij, o God! want ik betrouw op U.
A Precious Psalm of David. Preserve me, O GOD, for I have sought refuge in thee.
2 O mijn ziel! gij hebt tot den HEERE gezegd: Gij zijt de HEERE, mijn goedheid raakt niet tot U;
Thou hast said unto Yahweh, My Lord, art thou! My goodness, mounteth not unto thee.
3 Maar tot de heiligen, die op de aarde zijn, en de heerlijken, in dewelke al mijn lust is.
It belongeth unto the holy ones, whom, in his own land, Yahweh, ennobleth, In whom is all his delight
4 De smarten dergenen, die een anderen God begiftigen, zullen vermenigvuldigd worden; ik zal hun drankofferen van bloed niet offeren, en hun namen op mijn lippen niet nemen.
They multiply their idols—another, have they purchased! I will not pour out their drink-offerings of blood, nor will I take up their names on my lips.
5 De HEERE is het deel mijner erve, en mijns bekers; Gij onderhoudt mijn lot.
Yahweh, is mine allotted portion and my cup, Thou, art maintaining my lot.
6 De snoeren zijn mij in liefelijke plaatsen gevallen; ja, een schone erfenis is mij geworden.
The lines, have fallen unto me, in pleasant places, Verily an inheritance that delighteth me.
7 Ik zal den HEERE loven, Die mij raad heeft gegeven; zelfs bij nacht onderwijzen mij mijn nieren.
I will bless Yahweh, who hath counselled me, —Surely, by night, shall mine impulses admonish me.
8 Ik stel den HEERE geduriglijk voor mij, omdat Hij aan mijn rechterhand is, zal ik niet wankelen.
I have set Yahweh before me continually, because he is on my right hand, I shall not be shaken!
9 Daarom is mijn hart verblijd, en mijn eer verheugt zich; ook zal mijn vlees zeker wonen.
Therefore, hath my heart rejoiced, and mine honour exulted, Yea, my flesh, shall settle down securely;
10 Want Gij zult mijn ziel in de hel niet verlaten; Gij zult niet toelaten, dat Uw Heilige de verderving zie. (Sheol h7585)
For thou wilt not abandon my soul to hades, neither wilt thou suffer thy man of lovingkindness, to see corruption: (Sheol h7585)
11 Gij zult mij het pad des levens bekend maken; verzadiging der vreugde is bij Uw aangezicht; liefelijkheden zijn in Uw rechterhand, eeuwiglijk.
Thou wilt cause me to know, the path of life, —Fulness of joys before thee, Pleasures at thy right hand evermore.
