Jeremia 15
1 Maar Jahweh zeide tot Mij: Al stonden Moses en Samuël voor mijn aanschijn, Ik bekommerde Mij niet om dit volk; jaag ze weg uit mijn ogen, ze moeten heen!
Then sayde the Lord vnto me, Though Moses and Samuel stoode before mee, yet mine affection coulde not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them depart.
2 En als ze u vragen, waar zullen we heen; dan moet ge hun zeggen: Zo spreekt Jahweh! Wie voor de dood is bestemd: naar de dood; wie voor het zwaard: naar het zwaard; wie voor de honger: naar de honger; wie voor de ballingschap: naar de ballingschap!
And if they say vnto thee, Whither shall we depart? then tell them, Thus saith the Lord, Such as are appointed to death, vnto death: and such as are for the sworde, to the sworde: and such as are for the famine, to the famine: and such as are for the captiuitie, to the captiuitie.
3 Vier machten laat Ik op hen los, is de godsspraak van Jahweh: Het zwaard om te moorden, de honden om weg te slepen, de vogels uit de lucht om te verslinden, de beesten op aarde om te vernielen!
And I wil appoint ouer them foure kindes, sayth the Lord, the sworde to slay, and the dogs to teare in pieces, and the soules of the heauen, and the beastes of the earth to deuoure, and to destroy.
4 Ik maak ze ten afschrik voor alle koninkrijken der aarde, om wat Manasses, de zoon van Ezekias, en koning van Juda, in Jerusalem heeft gedaan.
I will scatter them also in all kingdomes of the earth, because of Manasseh the sonne of Hezekiah King of Iudah, for that which he did in Ierusalem.
5 Jerusalem, wie zal nog deernis met u hebben, Wie u beklagen; Wie maakt er een omweg, Om naar uw welstand te vragen?
Who shall then haue pitie vpon thee, O Ierusalem? or who shalbe sorie for thee? or who shall go to pray for thy peace?
6 Ge hebt Mij verworpen, spreekt Jahweh, Mij de rug toegekeerd. Daarom steek Ik mijn hand tegen u uit, om u te vernielen, Ik ben het zat, Mij nog te ontfermen.
Thou hast forsaken me, sayth the Lord, and gone backward: therefore wil I stretch out mine hand against thee, and destroy thee: for I am weary with repenting.
7 Ik ga ze wannen Voor de poorten van het land; Kinderloos maak Ik mijn volk, en richt het te gronde, Omdat ze zich niet hebben bekeerd.
And I wil scatter them with the fanne in the gates of the earth I haue wasted, and destroyed my people, yet they would not returne from their wayes.
8 Hun weduwen maak Ik talrijker nog Dan het zand van de zee; Over de moeders van hun jongens Breng Ik ontzetting op klaarlichte dag, En stort geheel onverwacht Angst en verschrikking over haar uit.
Their widdowes are increased by mee aboue the sande of the sea: I haue brought vpon them, and against the assembly of the yong men a destroyer at noone day: I haue caused him to fal vpon them, and the citie suddenly, and speedily.
9 Die zeven kinderen baarde, bezwijmt, En zinkt in onmacht neer; Haar zon gaat onder midden op de dag, In beschaming en schande. En wat er overblijft, geef Ik prijs aan het zwaard, Aan hun vijanden, is de godsspraak van Jahweh!
Shee that hath borne seuen, hath bene made weake: her heart hath failed: the sunne hath failed her, whiles it was day: she hath bene confounded, and ashamed, and the residue of them will I deliuer vnto the sworde before their enemies, sayth the Lord.
10 Wee mij, mijn moeder, dat ge mij hebt gebaard, Een man, met wien de hele wereld wil kijven en twisten; Ik ben niemands schuldeiser, ben niemand iets schuldig, En ze verwensen mij allen.
Wo is mee, my mother, that thou hast borne mee, a contentious man, and a man that striueth with the whole earth I haue neither lent on vsury, nor men haue lent vnto me on vsurie: yet euery one doeth curse me.
11 Toch, Jahweh, heb ik U trouw gediend, Bij U voor mijn vijand ten beste gesproken In tijden van onheil en nood:
The Lord sayd, Surely thy remnant shall haue wealth: surely I will cause thine enemie to intreate thee in the time of trouble, and in the time of affliction.
12 Maar kan men ijzer uit ‘t noorden en koper breken?
Shall the yron breake the yron, and the brasse that commeth from the North?
Thy substance and thy treasures wil I giue to be spoyled without gaine, and that for all thy sinnes euen in all thy borders.
And I wil make thee to go with thine enemies into a land that thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burne you.
15 Gij weet het Jahweh! Wees mijner indachtig, Kom mij te hulp, en wreek mij op die mij vervolgen; Stort door uw lankmoedigheid mij niet in ‘t verderf, Gedenk, dat ik gehoond word om U!
O Lord, thou knowest, remember me, and visite me, and reuenge me of my persecuters: take mee not away in the continuance of thine anger: know that for thy sake I haue suffered rebuke.
16 Zodra ik uw woorden ontving, heb ik ze verslonden, Uw woord was mij een vreugde en blijdschap des harten; Want uw Naam is over mij uitgeroepen, o Jahweh, God der heirscharen!
Thy wordes were founde by me, and I did eate them, and thy worde was vnto me the ioy and reioycing of mine heart: for thy Name is called vpon me, O Lord God of hostes.
17 Nooit zat ik in vrolijke kringen, Nooit heb ik blijdschap gekend; Door ùwe hand zat ik eenzaam, Want Gij hebt mij met gramschap vervuld.
I sate not in the assembly of the mockers, neither did I reioyce, but sate alone because of thy plague: for thou hast filled me with indignation.
18 Waarom is er dan geen eind aan mijn smart, En schrijnt mijn wonde, ongeneeslijk? Waarom zijt Gij voor mij als een onbetrouwbare beek, Waar men nooit op water kan rekenen?
Why is mine heauines continuall? and my plague desperate and cannot be healed? why art thou vnto me as a lyar, and as waters that faile?
19 Daarom spreekt Jahweh: Wanneer gij aan Mij u overgeeft, Dan geef Ik u weer, Dat ge voor mijn aanschijn moogt staan. En wanneer ge waardige woorden spreekt, niets minderwaardig, Dan moogt ge mijn mond zijn: Zij moeten zich richten naar u, Gij moet u niet richten naar hen!
Therefore thus saith the Lord, If thou returne, then wil I bring thee againe, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take away the precious from the vile, thou shalt be according to my worde: let them returne vnto thee, but returne not thou vnto them.
20 Dan maak Ik u tegenover dit volk Tot een onneembare koperen muur; En wanneer zij tegen u strijden, Kunnen ze u niet overwinnen. Dan blijf Ik bij u, om u te helpen, Om u te redden, spreekt Jahweh;
And I will make thee vnto this people a strong brasen wall, and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not preuaile against thee: for I am with thee to saue thee and to deliuer thee, saith ye Lord.
21 Dan zal Ik u redden uit de hand van de bozen, U bevrijden uit de greep van uw beulen!
And I will deliuer thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeeme thee out of the hand of the tyrants.
