1 De zonen van Asaf, Heman en Jedoetoen werden door David en de legeroversten aangewezen, om op de citers, harpen en cymbalen te spelen. Hier volgt een opsomming van hen, die met deze tak van dienst werden belast.
Moreover David and the chief. officers of the army separated for the ministry the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Idithun: to prophesy with harps, and with psalteries, and with cymbals according to their number serving in their appointed office.
2 De groep van Asaf: Zakkoer, Josef, Netanja, Asjaréla; het waren de zonen van Asaf, die onder leiding van Asaf de door den koning voorgeschreven muziek vol begeestering moesten uitvoeren.
Of the sons of Asaph: Zacchur, and Joseph, and Nathania, and Asarela, sons of Asaph: under the hand of Asaph prophesying near the king.
3 De groep van Jedoetoen: Gedaljáhoe, Soeri, Jesjajáhoe, Chasjabjáhoe en Mattitjáhoe, in het geheel zes zonen van Jedoetoen, die onder leiding van hun vader Jedoetoen bij het loven en prijzen van Jahweh vol begeestering de citer moesten spelen.
And of Idithun: the sons of Idithun, Godolias, Serf, Jeseias, and Hasabias, and Mathathias, six, under the hand of their father Idithun, who prophesied with a harp to give thanks and to praise the Lord.
4 De groep van Heman: Boekki-jáhoe, Mattanjáhoe, Oezziël, Sjeboeël, Jerimot, Chananja, Chanani, Elijáta, Giddalti, Romamti-Ézer, Josjbekásja, Mallóti, Hotir en Machaziot, zonen van Heman;
Of Heman also: the sons of Heman, Bocciau, Mathaniau, Oziel, Subuel, and Jerimoth, Hananias, Hanani, Eliatha, Geddelthi, and Romemthiezer, and Jesbacassa, Mellothi, Othir, Mahazioth:
5 ze waren allen zonen van Heman, den ziener, die den koning Gods woorden vertolkte; want om zijn aanzien te verhogen, had God aan Heman veertien zonen en drie dochters geschonken.
All these were the sons of Heman the seer of the king in the words of God, to lift up the horn: and God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6 Naar koninklijke verordening moesten ze allen onder leiding van hun vader Asaf, Jedoetoen en Heman met cymbalen, harpen en citers in het heiligdom van Jahweh de liederen begeleiden bij de eredienst in het huis van God.
All these under their father’s hand were distributed to sing in the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, and psalteries and harps, for the service of the house of the Lord near the king: to wit, Asaph, and Idithun, and Heman.
7 Hun ambtgenoten meegerekend, die in de liederen van Jahweh waren geoefend, telden ze in het geheel tweehonderd acht en tachtig kunstenaars.
And the number of them with their brethren, that taught the song of the Lord, all the teachers, were two hundred and eighty-eight,
8 Om hun beurt vast te stellen wierpen zij het lot, de minderen evengoed als de voornamen, de deskundigen evengoed als de leerlingen.
And they cast lots by their courses, the elder equally with the younger, the learned and the unlearned together.
9 Het eerste lot viel op Josef, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man; het tweede op Gedaljáhoe, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
And the first lot came forth to Joseph, who was of Asaph. The second to Godolias, to him and his sons, and his brethren twelve.
10 het derde op Zakkoer, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The third to Zachur, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
11 het vierde op Jisri, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man; ,
The fourth to Isari, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
12 het vijfde op Netanjáhoe, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The fifth to Nathania, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
13 het zesde op Boekki-jáhoe, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The sixth to Bocciau, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
14 het zevende op Jesjaréla, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The seventh to Isreela, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
15 het achtste op Jesjajáhoe, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The eighth to Jesaia, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
16 het negende op Mattanjáhoe, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The ninth to Mathanaias, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
17 het tiende op Sjimi, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The tenth to Semeias, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
18 het elfde op Azarel, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The eleventh to Azareel, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
19 het twaalfde op Chasjabja, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The twelfth to Hasabia, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
20 het dertiende op Sjoebaël, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The thirteenth to Subael, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
21 het veertiende op Mattitjáhoe, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The fourteenth to Mathathias, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
22 het vijftiende op Jeremot, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The fifteenth to Jerimoth, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
23 het zestiende op Chananjáhoe, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The sixteenth to Hananias, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
24 het zeventiende op Josjbekásja, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The seventeenth to Jesbacassa, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
25 het achttiende op Chanani, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The eighteenth to Hanani, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
26 het negentiende op Mallóti, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The nineteenth to Mellothi, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
27 het twintigste op Eli-játa, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The twentieth to Eliatha, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
28 het een en twintigste op Hotir, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The one and twentieth to Othir, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
29 het twee en twintigste op Giddalti, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The two and twentieth to Geddelthi, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
30 het drie en twintigste op Machaziot, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man;
The three and twentieth to Mahazioth, to his sons and his brethren twelve.
31 het vier en twintigste op Romamti, met zijn zonen en broeders twaalf man.
