1 Den gudløse flyr, skønt ingen er efter ham; tryg som en Løve er den retfærdige.
The wicked flee when none pursueth: but the righteous are bolde as a lyon.
2 Ved Voldsmands Brøde opstår Strid, den kvæles af Mand med Forstand.
For the transgression of the land there are many princes thereof: but by a man of vnderstanding and knowledge a realme likewise endureth long.
3 En fattig Tyran, der kuer de ringe, er Regn, der hærger og ej giver Brød.
A poore man, if he oppresse the poore, is like a raging raine, that leaueth no foode.
4 Hvo Loven sviger, roser de gudløse, hvo Loven holder, er på Krigsfod med dem.
They that forsake the Law, prayse the wicked: but they that keepe the Law, set themselues against them.
5 Ildesindede fatter ej Ret; alt fatter de, som søger HERREN.
Wicked men vnderstand not iudgemnt: but they that seeke the Lord vnderstand all things.
6 Hellere en fattig med lydefri Færd end en, som går Krogveje, er han end rig.
Better is the poore that walketh in his vprightnesse, then hee that peruerteth his wayes, though he be riche.
7 Forstandig Søn tager Vare på Loven, men Drankeres Fælle gør sin Fader Skam.
He that keepeth the Law, is a childe of vnderstanding: but hee that feedeth the gluttons, shameth his father.
8 Hvo Velstand øger ved Åger og Opgæld, samler til en, som er mild mod de ringe.
He that increaseth his riches by vsurie and interest, gathereth them for him that will be mercifull vnto the poore.
9 Den, der vender sit Øre fra Loven, endog hans Bøn er en Gru.
He that turneth away his eare from hearing the Law, euen his prayer shalbe abominable.
10 Leder man retsindige vild på onde Veje, falder man selv i sin Grav; men de lydefri arver Lykke.
He that causeth the righteous to go astray by an euill way, shall fall into his owne pit, and the vpright shall inherite good things.
11 Rigmand tykkes sig viis, forstandig Småmand gennemskuer ham.
The riche man is wise in his owne conceite: but the poore that hath vnderstanding, can trie him.
12 Når retfærdige jubler, er Herligheden stor, vinder gudløse frem, skal man lede efter Folk.
When righteous men reioyce, there is great glory: but when the wicked come vp, the man is tried.
13 At dølge sin Synd fører ikke til Held, men bekendes og slippes den, finder man Nåde.
He that hideth his sinnes, shall not prosper: but he that confesseth, and forsaketh them, shall haue mercy.
14 Saligt det Menneske, som altid ængstes, men forhærder man sit Hjerte, falder man i Ulykke.
Blessed is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart, shall fall into euill.
15 En brølende Løve, en grådig Bjørn er en gudløs, som styrer et ringe Folk.
As a roaring lyon, and an hungry beare, so is a wicked ruler ouer the poore people.
16 Uforstandig Fyrste øver megen Vold, langt Liv får den, der hader Rov.
A prince destitute of vnderstanding, is also a great oppressour: but hee that hateth couetousnes, shall prolong his dayes.
17 Et Menneske, der tynges af Blodskyld, er på Flugt til sin Grav; man hjælpe ham ikke.
A man that doeth violence against the blood of a person, shall flee vnto the graue, and they shall not stay him.
18 Den, som vandrer lydefrit, frelses, men den, som går Krogveje, falder i Graven.
He that walketh vprightly, shalbe saued: but he that is froward in his wayes, shall once fall.
19 Den mættes med brød, som dyrker sin Jord, med Fattigdom den, der jager efter Tomhed.
He that tilleth his land, shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth the idle, shall be filled with pouertie.
20 Ærlig Mand velsignes rigt, men Jag efter Rigdom undgår ej Straf.
A faythfull man shall abound in blessings, and he that maketh haste to be riche, shall not be innocent.
21 At være partisk er ikke godt, en Mand kan forse sig for en Bid Brød.
To haue respect of persons is not good: for that man will transgresse for a piece of bread.
22 Misundelig Mand vil i Hast vinde Gods; at Trang kommer over ham, ved han ikke.
A man with a wicked eye hasteth to riches, and knoweth not, that pouertie shall come vpon him.
23 Den, der revser, får Tak til sidst fremfor den, hvis Tunge er slesk.
He that rebuketh a man, shall finde more fauour at length, then he that flattereth with his tongue.
24 Stjæle fra Forældre og nægte, at det, er Synd, er at være Fælle med hærgende Mand.
Hee that robbeth his father and mother, and sayth, It is no transgression, is the companion of a man that destroyeth.
25 Den vindesyge vækker Splid, men den, der stoler på HERREN, kvæges.
He that is of a proude heart, stirreth vp strife: but he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be fatte.
26 Den, der stoler på sit Vid, er en Tåbe, men den, der vandrer i Visdom, reddes.
Hee that trusteth in his owne heart, is a foole: but he that walketh in wisdome, shall be deliuered.
27 Hvo Fattigmand giver, skal intet fattes, men mangefold bandes, hvo Øjnene lukker.
He that giueth vnto the poore, shall not lacke: but he that hideth his eyes, shall haue many curses.
28 Vinder gudløse frem, kryber Folk i Skjul; når de omkommer, bliver de retfærdige mange.
When the wicked rise vp, men hide them selues: but when they perish, ye righteous increase.
