5 Mojžišova 25

1 Vznikla-li by jaká nesnáz mezi některými, a přistoupili by k soudu, aby je rozsoudili, tedy spravedlivého ospravedlní, a nepravého odsoudí.

And if there should be a dispute between men, and they should come forward to judgment, and [the judges] judge, and justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked:

2 Bude-li pak hoden mrskání nepravý, tedy káže ho položiti soudce a mrskati před sebou, vedlé nepravosti jeho v jistý počet ran.

then it shall come to pass, if the unrighteous should be worthy of stripes, you shall lay him down before the judges, and they shall scourge him before them according to his iniquity.

3 Čtyřidcetikrát káže ho mrštiti, aniž přidá více, aby, jestliže by jej nadto mrskal ranami mnohými, nebyl příliš zlehčen bratr tvůj před očima tvýma.

And they shall scourge him with forty stripes in number, they shall not inflict more; for if you should scourge him [with] more stripes beyond these stripes, your brother will be disgraced before you.

4 Nezavížeš úst vola mlátícího.

You shall not muzzle the ox that treads out the corn.

5 Když by bratří spolu bydlili, a umřel by jeden z nich, nemaje syna, nevdá se ven žena toho mrtvého za jiného muže; bratr jeho vejde k ní, a vezme ji sobě za manželku, a právem švagrovství přižení se k ní.

And if brethren should live together, and one of them should die, and should not have seed, the wife of the deceased shall not marry out [of the family] to a man not related: her husband's brother shall go in to her, and shall take her to himself for a wife, and shall dwell with her.

6 Prvorozený pak, kteréhož by porodila, nazván bude jménem bratra jeho mrtvého, aby nebylo vyhlazeno jméno jeho z Izraele.

And it shall come to pass that the child which she shall bear, shall be named by the name of the deceased, and his name shall not be blotted out of Israel.

7 Nechtěl-li by pak muž ten pojíti příbuzné své, tedy přijde příbuzná jeho k bráně před starší a řekne: Nechce příbuzný můj vzbuditi bratru svému jména v Izraeli, a nechce podlé práva švagrovství pojíti mne.

And if the man should not be willing to take his brother's wife, then shall the woman go up to the gate to the elders, and she shall say, My husband's brother will not raise up the name of his brother in Israel, my husband's brother has refused.

8 Tedy povolají ho starší města toho, a mluviti budou s ním; a stoje, řekl-li by: Nechci jí pojíti,

And the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him; and if he stand and say, I will not take her:

9 Přistoupí příbuzná jeho k němu před staršími, a szuje střevíc jeho s nohy jeho, a pline mu na tvář a odpoví, řkuci: Tak se má státi muži tomu, kterýž by nechtěl vzdělati domu bratra svého.

then his brother's wife shall come forward before the elders, and shall loose one shoe from off his foot, and shall spit in his face, and shall answer and say, Thus shall they do to the man who will not build his brother's house in Israel.

10 I bude nazváno jméno jeho v Izraeli: Dům bosého.

And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that has had his shoe loosed.

11 Když by se svadili někteří spolu jeden s druhým, a přistoupila by žena jednoho, aby vysvobodila muže svého z ruky bijícího jej, i vztáhla by ruku svou a uchopila by ho za lůno:

And if men should strive together, a man with his brother, and the wife of one of them should advance to rescue her husband out of the hand of him that smites him, and she should stretch forth her hand, and take hold of his private parts;

12 Tedy utneš ruku její, neslituje se nad ní oko tvé.

you shall cut off her hand; your eye shall not spare her.

13 Nebudeš míti v pytlíku svém nejednostejného kamene, většího a menšího.

You shall not have in your bag various weights, a great and a small.

14 Aniž budeš míti v domě svém nejednostejného korce, většího a menšího.

You shall not have in your house various measures, a great and a small.

15 Váhu celou a spravedlivou míti budeš, též míru celou a spravedlivou budeš míti, aby se prodlili dnové tvoji v zemi, kterouž Hospodin Bůh tvůj dává tobě.

You shall have a true and just weight, and a true and just measure, that you may live long upon the land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance.

16 Nebo v ohavnosti jest Hospodinu Bohu tvému, kdožkoli činí ty věci, všeliký činící nepravost.

For every one that does this [is] an abomination to the Lord your God, even every one that does injustice.

17 Pamatuj na to, coť učinil Amalech na cestě, když jste šli z Egypta:

Remember what things Amalec did to you by the way, when you went forth out of the land of Egypt:

18 Kterak vyšed tobě v cestu, zadní houf tvůj všech mdlých, kteříž šli za tebou, pobil, když jsi ty byl zemdlený a ustalý, a nebál se Boha.

how he withstood you in the way, and harassed your rear, [even] those that were weary behind you, and you did hunger and was weary; and he did not fear God.

19 Protož když byl Hospodin Bůh tvůj dal tobě odpočinutí ode všech nepřátel tvých vůkol v zemi, kterouž Hospodin Bůh tvůj dává tobě v dědictví, abys dědičně obdržel ji, vyhladíš památku Amalecha pod nebem; nezapomínejž na to.

And it shall come to pass whenever the Lord your God shall have given you rest from all your enemies round about you, in the land which the Lord your God gives you to inherit, you shall blot out the name of Amalec from under heaven, and shall not forget [to do it].
