Psalmi 91

1 Ti što prebivaš pod zaštitom Višnjega, što počivaš u sjeni Svemogućega,

He who lives in the shelter of the Most High will stay in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 reci Jahvi: “Zaklone moj! Utvrdo moja! Bože moj u koga se uzdam!”

I will say of Yahweh, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

3 Jer on će te osloboditi od zamke ptičarske, od kuge pogubne.

For he will rescue you from the snare of the hunter and from the deadly plague.

4 Svojim će te krilima zaštititi i pod njegova ćeš se krila skloniti: Vjernost je njegova štit i obrana!

He will cover you with his wings, and under his wings you will find refuge. His trustworthiness is a shield and protection.

5 Nećeš se bojati strašila noćnoga ni strelice što leti danju,

You will not be afraid of terror in the night, or of the arrow that flies by day,

6 ni kuge što se šulja kroz tmine, ni pošasti što hara o podne.

or of the plague that roams around in the darkness, or of the disease that comes at noontime.

7 Pa nek' padaju tisuće kraj tebe, deseci tisuća s desne tvoje, tebi se neće primaći!

A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not reach you.

8 Tek što okom pogledaš, već ćeš vidjeti plaću grešnika.

You will only observe and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 Jer Jahve je zaklon tvoj, Višnjega odabra sebi za okrilje.

For Yahweh is my refuge! Make the Most High your refuge also.

10 Neće te snaći nesreća, nevolja se neće prikučiti šatoru tvojemu.

No evil will overtake you; no affliction will come near your home.

11 Jer anđelima svojim zapovjedi da te čuvaju na svim putima tvojim.

For he will direct his angels to protect you, to guard you in all your ways.

12 Na rukama će te nositi da se ne spotakneš o kamen.

They will lift you up with their hand so that you will not hit your foot on a stone.

13 Nogom ćeš gaziti lava i ljuticu, zgazit ćeš lavića i zmiju.

You will crush lions and adders under your feet; you will trample on young lions and serpents.

14 Izbavit ću ga jer me ljubi, zakrilit ga jer poznaje ime moje.

Because he is devoted to me, I will rescue him. I will protect him because he is loyal to me.

15 Zazvat će me, a ja ću ga uslišiti, s njim ću biti u nevolji, spasit ću ga i proslaviti.

When he calls to me, I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble; I will give him victory and will honor him.

16 Nasitit ću ga danima mnogim, pokazat' mu spasenje svoje.”

I will satisfy him with long life and show him my salvation.
