ⳘⲀⲢⲔⲞⲚ 15
1 ⲁ̅ ϩⲧⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁⲩϫⲓϣⲟϫⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲡⲣⲉⲥⲃⲩⲧⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ̅ⲡⲥⲩⲛϩⲉⲇⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲧⲏⲣϥ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲥⲉⲛϩ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁⲩϫⲓⲧϥ̅ ⲁⲩⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲉⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ.
And as soon as ever it was light the chief priests holding a consultation with the elders and scribes, they and the whole sanhedrim, bound Jesus, and carried Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate.
2 ⲃ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲡⲉⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲣ̅ⲣⲟ ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ̈. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉⲧϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ.
And Pilate asked Him, Art thou the king of the Jews? and He answered It is as thou sayst.
And the chief priests accused Him of many things: but he answered nothing.
So Pilate asked Him again, saying, Dost thou answer nothing? See how many things they witness against thee:
but Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate was amazed.
Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired:
and there was one Barabbas under confinement with some of his accomplices in sedition, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
And the people clamoured and desired him to do as he always used to do for them.
But Pilate answered them, saying, Would ye have me release to you the king of the Jews?
(for he knew that the chief priests had delivered Him up to him out of envy: )
but the chief priests incited the people to desire that he would rather release Barabbas to them.
And Pilate answered, and said to them again, What then would you have me do with Him, whom ye call king of the Jews?
And they cried out again, Crucify Him.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅
But Pilate said unto them, Why, what ill has He done? And they cried out the more vehemently, Crucify Him.
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲡⲉⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲣⲡⲓⲑⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲁϥⲕⲁⲃⲁⲣⲁⲃⲃⲁⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ. ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲫⲣⲁⲅⲉⲗⲗⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲁϥⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲩⲥxⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ.
So Pilate being willing to ingratiate with the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and having scourged Jesus, delivered Him up to be crucified.
And the soldiers led Him away into the hall, which is called the Pretorium; and gathered their whole company together:
and they clad Him in purple, and platted a crown of thorns and put it on his head,
and saluted Him, saying, Hail king of the Jews;
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϩⲓⲟⲩⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲕⲁϣ ⲉϫⲛ̅ⲧⲉϥⲁⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲛⲉϫⲧⲁϥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉϩⲣⲁϥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲕⲗ̅ϫⲛⲉⲩⲡⲁⲧ ϩⲓϩⲏ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱϣⲧ̅ ⲛⲁϥ.
and struck Him on the head with a reed, and spit upon Him, and bowed their knees, and did Him homage.
20 ⲕ̅ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲩⲥⲱⲃⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲕⲁⲁϥ ⲕⲁϩⲏⲩ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲭⲗⲁⲙⲩⲥ ⲛ̅ϫⲏϭⲉ. ⲁⲩϯⲛⲉϥϩⲟⲓ̈ⲧⲉ ϩⲓⲱⲱϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲛ̅ⲧϥ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲉⲩⲉⲥxⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ.
And when they had thus abused Him, they took off the purple from Him, and put his own clothes on Him, and brought Him out to crucify Him.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲁⲩⲕⲉϥⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲉⲡⲉϥⲣⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡⲕⲩⲣⲏⲛⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲥⲱϣⲉ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ ⲛ̅ⲁⲗⲉⲝⲁⲛⲇⲣⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ̅ϩⲣⲟⲩⲫⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲉϥⲓⲡⲉϥⲥxⲟⲥ
And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was passing by, coming out of the country, to carry his cross:
and they brought Him to a place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, the place of a scull.
And they offered Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He would not take it.
And when they had fastened Him to the cross, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what each of them should take.
And it was the third hour, when they fixed Him on the cross:
and the title of his charge was written over Him, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
And they crucified two thieves with Him, one on his right hand and one on his left:
28 ⲕ̅ⲏ̅
so that the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, "And He was numbered with the transgressors."
29 ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲩϫⲓⲟⲩⲁ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲩⲕⲓⲙ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲁⲡⲏⲩⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱϥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲃⲗ̅ⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϥ̅ⲕⲟⲧϥ̅ ⲛ̅ϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ̅ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲟⲩ
And they that passed by reviled Him, shaking their heads and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest, the temple,
and buildest it in three days, save thyself and come down from the cross.
31 ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ ϩⲓⲟⲙⲟⲓⲱⲥ ⲛ̅ⲕⲉⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲛⲉⲩⲥⲱⲃⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱϥ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲉⲣⲏⲩ ϫⲉ ϩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥⲛⲁϩⲙⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛϥ̅ⲛⲁϣⲛⲁϩⲙⲉϥ ⲁⲛ.
And the chief priests likewise scoffing at Him among themselves, with the scribes, said, He saved others, Himself He cannot save: let Christ,
32 ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲉⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲉⲣⲟ ⲙ̅ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ϩⲓϫⲛ̅ⲡⲉⲥxⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲛⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ⲧⲛ̅ⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲕⲉⲥⲟⲟⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲩⲥxⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁϥ ⲁⲩⲛⲉϭⲛⲟⲩϭϥ̅.
the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe in Him. And even they that were crucified with Him, reviled Him.
Now at the sixth hour there was darkness over the whole land, until the ninth hour.
34 ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ϫⲡ̅ⲯⲓⲧⲉ ⲁϥⲱϣ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ϩⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛ̅ϩⲣⲟⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲗⲱⲉⲓ ⲉⲗⲱⲉ͡ⲓ ⲗⲁⲙⲁ ⲥⲁⲭⲑⲁⲛⲉⲓ. ⲉⲧⲉⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉϣⲁⲩϩⲉⲣⲙⲉⲛⲉⲩⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲟⲩ ⲁⲕⲕⲁⲁⲧ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱⲕ.
And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani," which is being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
And some of them that stood by hearing it, said, Behold He calleth upon Elias.
36 ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ ⲁⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲱⲧ ⲁϥⲙⲁϩⲟⲩⲥⲡⲟⲅⲅⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ϩⲙϫ ⲁϥⲕⲁⲁⲥ ϩⲓϫⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲕⲁϣ ⲁϥⲧⲥⲟϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ϭⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ϩⲏⲗⲉⲓⲁⲥ ⲛⲁⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉⲛⲧϥ̅ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ.
And there ran one, and filled a spunge with vinegar, and putting it on a reed offered it Him to drink, saying, Let Him alone, let us see whether Elias will come to take Him down.
But Jesus cried with a loud voice and expired.
And the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom.
39 ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲡⲕⲉⲛⲧⲩⲣⲓⲱⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲙ̅ⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲁϥⲕⲁⲡⲉⲧⲏⲩⲓ̈ ⲛⲁⲓ̈. ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲗⲏⲑⲱⲥ ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
And when the centurion, that stood over against Him, saw that He expired with such a cry, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
40 ⲙ̅ ⲛⲉⲩⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛϩⲓⲟⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲩϭⲱϣⲧ̅ ⲉⲥⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲧⲙⲁⲅⲇⲁⲗⲏⲛⲏ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲧⲁⲡⲕⲟⲩⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲁⲕⲱⲃⲟⲥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲱⲥⲏ ⲙⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲗⲱⲙⲏ.
There were also women at a distance looking on: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41 ⲙ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲩⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱϥ ϫⲓⲛⲧⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲁ ⲉⲩⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲉⲛⲕⲉϩⲓⲟⲙⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲁⲩⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁϥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ.
who also when He was in Galilee, followed Him and waited on Him: and several others who came up to Jerusalem with Him.
And the evening being now come, (because it was the preparation,
43 ⲙ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁϥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲓ̈ⲱⲥⲏⲫ ⲡⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲁⲣⲓⲙⲁⲑⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲉⲩⲣⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲟ ⲡⲉ ⲃ̅ⲃⲟⲩⲗⲉⲩⲧⲏⲥ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ϩⲱⲱϥ ⲉϥϭⲱϣⲧ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲏⲧⲥ̅ ⲛ̅ⲧⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲟ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ⲁϥⲧⲟⲗⲙⲁ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ϣⲁⲡⲉⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ. ⲁϥⲁⲓⲧⲓ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅
or the day before the sabbath, ) Joseph of Arimathea, an honorable counsellor, who also was expecting the kingdom of God, came and went in boldly to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
44 ⲙ̅ⲇ̅ ⲡⲉⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲣ̅ϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲏⲇⲏ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲕⲉⲛⲧⲩⲣⲓⲱⲛ ⲁϥϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲁϥⲱⲥⲕ ϫⲓⲛⲧⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ.
But Pilate wondered that He was dead already, and therefore calling for the centurion he asked him if He had been dead any time:
and when he heard it from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
46 ⲙ̅ⲋ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϣⲉⲡⲟⲩⲥⲓⲛⲇⲱⲛ ⲁϥⲙ̅ⲡⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲁϥϭⲗⲙ̅ⲗⲱⲙϥ̅ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲥⲓⲛⲇⲱⲛ. ⲁϥⲕⲁⲁϥ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲙ̅ϩⲁⲁⲩ ⲉⲁⲩϣⲉⲧϣⲱⲧϥ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲡⲉⲧⲣⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲥⲕⲣ̅ⲕⲣ̅ⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲣⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲙϩⲁⲟⲩ.
And he bought fine linen, and took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen, and laid Him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock; and rolled a stone to the door of the sepulchre.
And Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of Joses observed where He was laid.
