耶利米书 40

1 耶利米锁在耶路撒冷和犹大被掳到巴比伦的人中，护卫长尼布撒拉旦将他从拉玛释放以后，耶和华的话临到耶利米。

The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah, who were carried away captive to Babylon.

2 护卫长将耶利米叫来，对他说：“耶和华—你的 神曾说要降这祸与此地。

The captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said to him, "The LORD your God pronounced this evil on this place;

3 耶和华使这祸临到，照他所说的行了；因为你们得罪耶和华，没有听从他的话，所以这事临到你们。

and the LORD has brought it, and done according as he spoke: because you have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing has come on you.

4 现在我解开你手上的链子，你若看与我同往巴比伦去好，就可以去，我必厚待你；你若看与我同往巴比伦去不好，就不必去。看哪，全地在你面前，你以为哪里美好，哪里合宜，只管上那里去吧！”

Now, look, I release you this day from the chains which are on your hand. If it seems good to you to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will take care of you; but if it seems bad to you to come with me into Babylon, do not: look, all the land is before you; where it seems good and right to you to go, there go."

5 耶利米还没有回去，护卫长说：“你可以回到沙番的孙子亚希甘的儿子基大利那里去；现在巴比伦王立他作犹大城邑的省长。你可以在他那里住在民中，不然，你看哪里合宜就可以上那里去。”于是护卫长送他粮食和礼物，释放他去了。

Now while he had not yet gone back, "Go back then," he said, "to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right to you to go." So the captain of the guard gave him food and a present, and let him go.

6 耶利米就到米斯巴见亚希甘的儿子基大利，在他那里住在境内剩下的民中。

Then went Jeremiah to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and lived with him among the people who were left in the land.

7 在田野的一切军长和属他们的人听见巴比伦王立了亚希甘的儿子基大利作境内的省长，并将没有掳到巴比伦的男人、妇女、孩童，和境内极穷的人全交给他。

Now when all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, and women, and children, and of the poorest of the land, of those who were not carried away captive to Babylon;

8 于是军长尼探雅的儿子以实玛利，加利亚的两个儿子约哈难和约拿单，单户篾的儿子西莱雅，并尼陀法人以斐的众子，玛迦人的儿子耶撒尼亚和属他们的人，都到米斯巴见基大利。

then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

9 沙番的孙子亚希甘的儿子基大利向他们和属他们的人起誓说：“不要怕服事迦勒底人，只管住在这地，服事巴比伦王，就可以得福。

Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore to them and to their men, saying, "Do not be afraid to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

10 至于我，我要住在米斯巴，伺候那到我们这里来的迦勒底人；只是你们当积蓄酒、油，和夏天的果子，收在器皿里，住在你们所占的城邑中。”

As for me, look, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who shall come to us: but you, gather wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that you have taken."

11 在摩押地和亚扪人中，在以东地和各国的一切犹大人，听见巴比伦王留下些犹大人，并立沙番的孙子亚希甘的儿子基大利管理他们。

Likewise when all the Jews who were in Moab, and among the people of Ammon, and in Edom, and who were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan;

12 这一切犹大人就从所赶到的各处回来，到犹大地的米斯巴基大利那里，又积蓄了许多的酒，并夏天的果子。

then all the Jews returned out of all places where they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, to Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.

13 加利亚的儿子约哈难和在田野的一切军长来到米斯巴见基大利，

Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,

14 对他说：“亚扪人的王巴利斯打发尼探雅的儿子以实玛利来要你的命，你知道吗？”亚希甘的儿子基大利却不信他们的话。

and said to him, "Do you know that Baalis the king of the people of Ammon has sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to take your life?" But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam did not believe them.

15 加利亚的儿子约哈难在米斯巴私下对基大利说：“求你容我去杀尼探雅的儿子以实玛利，必无人知道。何必让他要你的命，使聚集到你这里来的犹大人都分散，以致犹大剩下的人都灭亡呢？”

Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, "Please let me go, and I will kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: why should he take your life, that all the Jews who are gathered to you should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?"

16 亚希甘的儿子基大利对加利亚的儿子约哈难说：“你不可行这事，你所论以实玛利的话是假的。”

But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah, "You shall not do this thing; for you speak falsely of Ishmael."
