约翰福音 3
1 有一位名叫尼哥德慕的法利赛人，是犹太统治委员会中的一名成员。
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 一天晚上，他找到耶稣说：“拉比，我们知道你是从上帝那里来的老师，如果不是因为与上帝同在，就没有人可以像你一样显化神迹。”
The same came to Jesus by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except God be with him.
3 耶稣回答：“说实话，只有当你重生之时，才能亲历上帝之国。”
Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 尼哥德慕问到：“但人老了怎能重生呢？难道是回到母亲腹中再诞生一次吗？”
Nicodemus says to him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 耶稣回答：“说实话，只有用水和圣灵诞下的人，才能进入上帝之国。
Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 身体而生即为身体，圣灵而生即为圣灵。
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 如果我对你说‘你们必须重生。’不要感到惊讶。h
Marvel not that I said to you, You must be born again.
8 风随心所欲地吹拂，你听得到它的声音，却不知道它从何而来，又要到哪里去。对众人而言，圣灵而生的人也是如此。”
The wind blows where it wants, and you hear the sound thereof, but can not tell from where it comes, and where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 尼哥德慕说：“这怎么可能？”
Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things be?
10 耶稣说：“你是以色列有名的教师，却不明白这样的事情吗？
Jesus answered and said to him, Are you a master of Israel, and know not these things?
11 说实话，我们只谈论自己知道之事，见证所见之事，但你们却不接受我们的见证。
Truly, truly, I say to you, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and you receive not our witness.
12 我告诉你们的只是人间之事，你们都不信，如果和你们讲述天国之事，你们又怎能信呢？
If I have told you earthly things, and you believe not, how shall you believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 除了从天而降的人子，没有人曾升入天国。
And no man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 就像摩西在旷野中举起蛇，人子也必会被高举入天，
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
17 上帝派他的儿子来到人世间，不是为了谴责世人，而要让世人因他而获得救赎。
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 相信他的不会被定罪，至于不相信他的人，因为它们不相信上帝的独子，这本身就已经被谴责了。
He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 做出这样的决定是因为光降临这个世界，但世人因作恶犯罪，不爱光反倒爱黑暗。
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 作恶之人都恨光，不肯走到光下，生怕恶行暴露。
For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 行正道之人都愿意走进光中，显化上帝在它们身上达成的结果。”
But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are worked in God.
22 在这之后，耶稣和门徒来到犹太地并在此住下，开始与民众在一起，为他们施洗。
After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
23 约翰施洗的地点位于撒冷附近的艾农，因为那里水很充足，众人纷纷前去接受他的施洗。
And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
24 （当时约翰尚未入狱。）
For John was not yet cast into prison.
25 一天，约翰的门徒和一个犹太人在辩论洁净礼的问题。
Then there arose a question between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purifying.
26 他们来到约翰面前，对他说：“拉比，你看，约旦河另一侧的那个人，就是你为其见证的那个人也在施洗，大家都到他那里去了！”
And they came to John, and said to him, Rabbi, he that was with you beyond Jordan, to whom you bore witness, behold, the same baptizes, and all men come to him.
27 约翰回答：“人所获得的一切，均来自天赐。
John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
28 我曾说过：‘我不是基督，不过是奉命为他准备道路而已’你们对此可以证明。
You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
29 娶新娘的人是新郎！当新郎的好友站在那里，只要听到新郎的声音就会心生喜悦。我也有同样的欢喜，但现在这欢喜已经结束了。
He that has the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
30 他一定会变得更重要，我一定会变得更低微。”
He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 从天而来一定比众人更伟大，来自大地的则属于大地，其所言也不过人间之事。只有从天而来才会比万物更伟大。
He that comes from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth: he that comes from heaven is above all.
32 他对在天上的所见所闻做出见证，却没有人相信他所说的一切。
And what he has seen and heard, that he testifies; and no man receives his testimony.
33 接受他的见证，就代表你确认上帝的真实。
He that has received his testimony has set to his seal that God is true.
34 上帝派来之人讲述上帝之道，因为上帝不会对圣灵做出限制。
For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure to him.
35 天父爱这人子，已经把一切都交在他的手中。
The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.
