He that loves instruction loves sense, but he that hates reproofs is a fool.
2 Tami kahawi ni teh BAWIPA ni ngaikhai e hah ouk a hmu, hatei hawihoehnae sak hanelah kakâcainaw teh yonpen lah ao awh han.
He that has found favour with the Lord [is made] better; but a transgressor shall be passed over in silence.
3 Hawihoehnae ni tami caksak boi hoeh, hatei tamikalan e adu teh tahruet thai lah awm hoeh.
A man shall not prosper by wickedness; but the roots of the righteous shall not be taken up.
4 Napui kahawi teh a vâ hanelah bawilukhung lah ao, hatei yeirai ka po sak e napui teh a vâ e hru ka hmawnsakkung doeh.
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but as a worm in wood, so a bad woman destroys her husband.
5 Tamikalan pouknae teh a lan, hatei tamikathoutnaw e pouknae teh dumyennae doeh.
The thoughts of the righteous [are true] judgements; but ungodly men devise deceits.
6 Tamikathoutnaw e lawk teh, thei hanelah pawm awh sei, tie hah doeh. Hatei tamikalan e pahni ni teh a rungngang han.
The words of ungodly men are crafty; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
7 Tamikathout teh tâkhawng lah ao teh awm hoeh toe, hatei tamikalan e imthung teh a cak han.
When the ungodly is overthrown, he vanishes away; but the houses of the just remain.
8 Tami a lung a ang awh e patetlah rip oup lah ao, hatei a lungthin ka longkawi e teh dudam lah ao han.
The mouth of an understanding [man] is praised by a man; but he that is dull of heart is had in derision.
9 Amahoima a kâoup teh ca hane kaawm hoeh e tami hlak teh, apinihai oup laipalah mae thaw duem ka tawk e bet ahawihnawn.
Better is a man in dishonour serving himself, than one honouring himself and lacking bread.
10 Tamikalan ni teh amae saringnaw hah a pasai, hatei tamikathout teh a pahrennae dawk patenghai a moikai.
A righteous man has pity for the lives of his cattle; but the bowels of the ungodly are unmerciful.
11 Amae laikawk ka thawn e ni kaboumlah a ca han, hatei ayawmyin lah kho ka sak e tami teh thaipanueknae ka tawn hoeh e tami doeh.
He that tills his own land shall be satisfied with bread; but they that pursue vanities are void of understanding. He that enjoys himself in banquets of wine, shall leave dishonour in his own strong holds.
12 Tamikathout ni tamikathoutnaw e tangkhek hah a doun awh, hatei tamikalannaw e kung ni teh apaw a paw sak.
The desires of the ungodly are evil; but the roots of the godly are firmly set.
13 Tamikathout teh amae eknae dawk ouk a kâman, hatei tamikalan teh runae thung hoi ouk a hlout.
For the sin of [his] lips a sinner falls into snare; but a righteous man escapes from them. He whose looks are gentle shall be pitied, but he that contends in the gates will afflict souls.
14 Tami ni amae pahnipaw hah kaboumlah a ca han, amae a kut hoi a tawk e a paw hai poe lah ao han.
The soul of a man shall be filled with good from the fruits of his mouth; and the recompence of his lips shall be given to him.
15 Tamipathu ni amae lamthung hah kalan poung e lah a pouk, hatei pouknae poe e ka ngâi e tami teh a lungkaang e doeh.
The ways of fools are right in their own eyes; but a wise man hearkens to counsels.
16 Tamipathu e lungkhueknae teh tang a kamnue, hatei kahawicalah kho ka pouk e ni teh kayanae hah ouk a ramuk.
A fool declares his wrath the same day; but a prudent man hides his own disgrace.
17 Lawkkatang ka dei e ni lannae a kamnue sak, hatei kapanuekkhaikung kaphawk niteh kadumyennaw hah a kamnue sak.
A righteous man declares the open truth; but an unjust witness is deceitful.
18 Tahloi hoi thut e patetlah lawk ka dei e ao awh, hatei tami lungkaangnaw e lawk ni teh a dam sak.
Some wound as they speak, [like] swords; but the tongues of the wise heal.
19 Lawkkatang pahni teh a yungyoe caksak lah ao han, hatei laithoe deinae lai teh dongdengca hanelah doeh.
True lips establish testimony; but a hasty witness has an unjust tongue.
20 Hawihoehnae pouknae lungthin dawk dumyennae ao, hatei roumnae kadeikungnaw ni konawmnae a tawn awh.
[There is] deceit in the heart of him that imagines evil; but they that love peace shall rejoice.
21 Tamikalan koe thoenae phat mahoeh, hatei tamikathout teh thoenae hoi a kawi han.
No injustice will please a just man; but the ungodly will be filled with mischief.
22 Laithoe pahni teh BAWIPA ni a hmuhma e doeh, hatei kalan lah ka tawk e teh lunghawikhai e lah ao.
Lying lips are a abomination to the Lord; but he that deals faithfully is accepted with him.
23 Kho ka pouk thai e tami ni teh a panue e patenghai a hro rah, hatei tamipathu e lungthin ni teh pathunae dueng doeh a pâpho.
An understanding man is a throne of wisdom; but the heart of fools shall meet with curses.
24 Tami ka hratbat e kut ni a uk han, hatei ka pangak e teh lawkceng vaiteh thama lahoi tawk sak lah ao han.
The hand of chosen men shall easily obtain rule; but the deceitful shall be for a prey.
25 Khopouk papnae ni lungmathoenae a tâco sak, hatei lawkkahawi ni tami konawm sak.
A terrible word troubles the heart of a righteous man; but a good message rejoices him.
26 Tamikalan ni teh a imri hah lamthung a patue, tamikathout ni teh lam a phen sak.
A just arbitrator shall be his own friend; but mischief shall pursue sinners; and the way of ungodly men shall lead them astray.
27 Tami ka pangak niteh, kahrawng a cei ei, moi thokhai e boehai cat mahoeh.
A deceitful man shall catch no game; but a blameless man is a precious possession.
28 Lannae lamthung dawk hringnae ao teh, hote lamthung dawk teh duenae awm hoe.
In the ways of righteousness is life; but the ways of those that remember injuries [lead] to death.
