Nehemiah 1
1 Hacaliah capa Nehemiah e lawk teh, Artaxerxes abawinae kum 20, Khislev thapa, siangpahrang khopui Shushan im ka o navah,
The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,
2 ka nawngha Hanani hoi Judah ram e tami tangawn a tho awh teh Judah taminaw san dawk hoi ka hlout ni teh kaawm rae naw hoi, Jerusalem e a kongnaw hah ka pacei.
That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and [certain] men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, who were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
3 Ahnimouh ni kai koevah, san thung hoi ka tâcawt ni teh hot ram dawk kaawm awh rae naw ni, kalenpounge roedengnae hoi hnephnapnae thung ao awh. Jerusalem rapan pueng a rawp teh longkhanaw hmai koung a kak telah a dei awh.
And they said to me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province [are] in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also [is] broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.
4 Hote lawk ka thai navah ka tahung teh ka kâ. A hnin moikasawlah ka lung a mathoe teh rawcahai lahoi kalvan kaawm Cathut koe ka ratoum e teh,
And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned [certain] days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
5 Oe kalvan kaawm e Jehovah Cathut, kalen ni teh takikatho poung e Cathut, nang lungpataw niteh, na kâpoelawknaw ka tarawi e lathueng vah, lawkkam na kuep sak teh lungmanae kamnueksakkung,
And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:
6 Isarelnaw hanelah, na hmalah amom tangmin ka ratoum teh Isarelnaw lah kaawm e kaimouh ni ka sakpayon e yonnaw ka pâpho awh teh ka kâhei awh e naw hah sahnin na thai pouh haw.
Let thy ear now be attentive, and thy eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned.
7 Kai hoi ka miphunnaw ni ka payon awh toe. Cathut nang koe ka yon awh teh, panuetthopounge hno ka sakpayon awh toe. Na san Mosi koe na poe e kâpoelawknaw, phunglawknaw, lawkcengnaenaw ka tarawi awh hoeh toe.
We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.
8 Na san Mosi koevah yuemkamcu lah na awm awh hoehpawiteh miphun pueng kâkapek sak han.
Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, [If] ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:
9 Hatei kai koe bout na ban awh teh kâpoelawknaw bout na tarawi awh pawiteh kalvan rahim ahla poungnae koe pâlei e lah na o awh nakunghai, hote hmuen koehoi bout na pâkhueng vaiteh ka min o nahan ka rawi e hmuen koe na ceikhai han telah Mosi koe lawk na poe e hah pahnim hanh lah.
But [if] ye turn to me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you driven to the uttermost part of the heaven, [yet] will I gather them from thence, and will bring them to the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
10 Atuvah taminaw teh kalenpounge na thaonae hoi karang poung e na kut hoi na ratang e taminaw doeh.
Now these [are] thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand.
11 Oe BAWIPA na san ni ratoumnae hoi na min ka bari e na sannaw ratoumnae lawk hah na thai pouh haw. Na san heh sahnin yawhawinae poe haw. Hete tami hmalah minhmai kahawi na hmawt sak haw telah ka ratoum. Hatnavah kai teh siangpahrang e manang kuenkung lah ka o.
O LORD, I beseech thee, let now thy ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cup-bearer.
