1 Aw Khawsa, kak cykcahnaak ve ngai law lah, qeennaak ka thoeh lawnaak ve kawna a sui kaana koeh awm;
For the end, among Hymns of instruction by David. Hearken, O God, to my prayer; and disregard not my supplication.
2 Ngai law nawhtaw hlat law lah. Kawpoek ing ngaih kyinaak ni pe nawh,
Attend to me, and hearken to me: I was grieved in my (meditation) and troubled;
3 ka qaal ak awi ingkaw, thlakchekhqi amik dai sihnaak awh ly a lap na awm hqoeng nyng; kak khan awh khuikhanaak pha sak unawh khawso doena ka qaalkhqi ing ni zyi uhy.
because of the voice of the enemy, and because of the oppression of the sinner: for they brought iniquity against me, and were wrathfully angry with me.
4 Kak kawlung khuiawh ka lingbyi ve khuikha zawk nawh; thih kqihnaak ing ni sing khoep hawh hy.
My heart was troubled within me; and the fear of death fell upon me.
5 Kqihnaak ingkaw thynnaak ing nik chung nawh; kqih awmnaak ing ni myk khoep hawh hy.
Fear and trembling came upon me, and darkness covered me.
6 Cawh, Aw, kqukkqu amyihna kang hla ta lah voei nyng! Ak hla na ding nyng saw awm oeih oeih lah voei nyng –
And I said, O that I had wings as [those] of a dove! then would I flee away, and be at rest.
7 Ak hla na cen nyng saw qamkoh awh awm lah voei nyng;
Lo! I have fled afar off, and lodged in the wilderness. (Pause)
8 Hlinu ingkaw khawhli ing a phanaak voet ka awmnaak hun na ang tawnna cet lah voei nyng,” ti nyng.
I waited for him that should deliver me from distress of spirit and tempest.
9 Aw Bawipa, thlak chekhqi ce lungcing haven na ta nawh, ak awih kqawnkhqi awm chum hang sak lah, khawk bau khuiawh awipungnaak ingkaw hqo ang hqitnaak hu nyng.
Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen iniquity and gain saying in the city.
10 Khawmthan khawdai vawng awhkawng thlang qym uhy; ak khuiawh amak leek ingkaw amak thym poeknaak awm hy.
Day and night he shall go round about it upon its walls: iniquity and sorrow and unrighteousness [are] in the midst of it;
11 Plawcinaak ing khawk bau khuiawh bibi nawh; thekhanaak ingkaw qaai awikhqi lamkhqi awh am poet qoe hy.
and usury and craft have not failed from its streets.
12 Qaal ing ani thekhanaak mantaw, yh thai kawng nyng; qaal ing cem ni thawh sih mai seiawm, thuk taak thai kawng nyng.
For if an enemy had reproached me, I would have endured it; and if one who hated [me] had spoken vauntingly against me, I would have hid myself from him.
13 Cehlai, kamah amyihna thlang ak awm, ka pyi, ak zoe khyt ka pyi taw nang ni.
But thou, O man like minded, my guide, and my acquaintance,
14 Khawsa im na thlangkqeng mi ceh haih awh awmhly zeel doena ka pawlneng haih ceni.
who in companionship with me sweetened [our] food: we walked in the house of God in concord.
15 Thihnaak ing ka qaalkhqi ve tu qut sang mai nawh; phyi khuina a hqing a saina ceh pyi mai thaw voei uh, kawtih seetnaak ing a mingmih anglakawh awmnaak hun tahy. (Sheol h7585)
Let death come upon them, and let them go down alive into Hades, for iniquity is in their dwellings, in the midst of them. (Sheol h7585)
16 Cehlai, Khawsa ce khy nyng saw, Bawipa ing ni hul hy.
I cried to God, and the Lord hearkened to me.
17 Myncang, khawmy ingkaw khawnghyp awh ce ngaih kyi doena khy nyng saw, anih ing kak awi ce za law hy.
Evening, and morning, and at noon I will declare and make known [my wants]: and he shall hear my voice.
18 Ka qaal ce doem soeih bai seiawm, kai anik tukkhqi anglak khui awhkawng a tlawh ang zak kaana ni hul hy.
He shall deliver my soul in peace from them that draw nigh to me: for they were with me in many [cases].
19 Kumqui dy boei ngawihdoelh awh ak ngawi, Khawsa ing cekkhqi ce za kawmsaw a tlawh zaak sak khqi kaw. A khawboe amak chawt man thlangkhqi ingkaw Khawsa amak kqih thlangkhqi na awm uhy.
God shall hear, and bring them low, [even] he that has existed from eternity. (Pause) For they suffer no reverse, and [therefore] they have not feared God.
20 Ka pyi nawn ing a pyi ce tuk nawh; a paipi ce a sawhqat na awm sak nawn paqap hy.
He has reached forth his hand for retribution; they have profaned his covenant.
21 Ak awih kqawn taw sithau amyihna haal hlai saw, ak kawk khuiawh qaal tuknaak doeng awm hy; cehlai zawzikhqi ak phlawng na awm hy.
They were scattered at the anger of his countenance, and his heart drew nigh them. His words were smoother than oil, yet are they darts.
22 Na phyihqih ce Bawipa awh hal lah anih ing tha ni awm sak kaw; ak thlang dyng ce ityk awh awm am tluk sak kaw.
Cast thy care upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
23 Cehlai, Aw Khawsa, nang ing thlak che ce seetnaak lawk-kqawng khuina nuk thla bit kawp ti; thlang thi ak hoetkhqi ingkaw qaai awi ak kqawnkhqi taw a hqingnaak pyng thym awm am hqing kaw. Cehlai kai ingtaw, nang ni ka ni ypnaak.
But thou, O God, shalt bring them down to the pit of destruction; bloody and crafty men shall not live out half their days; but I will hope in thee, O Lord.
