1 A hqamca ing, ak thlak tyk nu ingkaw awitak awh kai ing ka lungnaak a cakhqi - kai doeng am nawh, awitak ak simkhqi boeih boeih a venawh,
The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all they that know the truth;
for the truth’s sake which abideth in us, and it shall be with us for ever: (aiōn g165)
3 Pa Khawsa ingkaw Pa a Capa Jesu Khrih a venawh qeennaak, thin tlawhnaak ingkaw ngaihqepnaak taw ningnih a venawh awitak lungnaak ing awm kaw.
Grace, mercy, peace shall be with us, from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4 Pa ing ningnih awi a ni peek khqi amyihna, nangmih ca thlang vang ing awitak awh ami ceh a dawngawh zeelnaak ak bau soeih ce ni pehy.
I rejoice greatly that I have found [certain] of thy children walking in truth, even as we received commandment from the Father.
5 Tuh ka lungnaak nu, awipeek ak thai am qee law nyng ak cyk ca awhkawng ni taak uh awipeek ce ni ka mi qee law hy. Pynoet ingkaw pynoet lung qunaak aham thoeh law nyng.
And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote to thee a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
6 Lungnaak taw ak awipeek ngainaak ing ni ceh ve ni.
And this is love, that we should walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, even as ye heard from the beginning, that ye should walk in it.
7 Jesu Khrih taw pumsa na law hy tice amak do, ak qaai kqawn thlang khawzah, khawmdek benna cet kang hawh uhy. Cemyih ak thlang taw ak qaai kqawn thlang ingkaw Khrih a qaal ni.
For many deceivers are gone forth into the world, [even] they that confess not that Jesus Christ cometh in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.
8 Na bibi ce hlawng kaana laksawng ce ak soep na nami huhnaak aham ngaihta lah uh.
Look to yourselves, that ye lose not the things which we have wrought, but that ye receive a full reward.
9 U awm haina dawng nawh Khrih a cawngpyinaak awh amak awm poe taw Khawsa am tahy, u awm cawngpyinaak awh ak awm poe taw Pa ingkaw Capa ce ta haih hy.
Whosoever goeth onward and abideth not in the teaching of Christ, hath not God: he that abideth in the teaching, the same hath both the Father and the Son.
10 Nangmih a venawh vawhkaw cawngpyinaak taak kaana ak law thlang ce na ipkhui na koeh ceh pyi.
If any one cometh unto you, and bringeth not this teaching, receive him not into [your] house, and give him no greeting:
11 U awm cemyih ak thlang ak do taw anih a bibi amak leek ak pyikung na awm hy.
for he that giveth him greeting partaketh in his evil works.
12 Nangmih a venawh ca khawzah qee aham ta hlai nyng, catlap ingkaw cahang tui hawnaak ham am ngaih nyng. Ce anglakawh, kaimih a zeelnaak a soepnaak thai aham nangmih a venna law nyng mik huh qoe na awi kak kqawn ngaih nyng.
Having many things to write unto you, I would not [write them] with paper and ink: but I hope to come unto you, and to speak face to face, that your joy may be fulfilled.
13 Ak tyk nang a nanu a cakhqi ing kut ni tlaih uhy.
The children of thine elect sister salute thee.
