< Mathai 18 >

1 To nathuem ah hnukbang kaminawk Jesu khaeah caeh o moe, siangpahrang mah uk ih van prae ah mi maw len koek tih? tiah a dueng o.
At that hour the disciples came to Jesus, and said: Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2 Jesu mah angmah khaeah nawkta ta to kawk moe, nihcae salakah ohsak.
And Jesus called a little child to him, and placed him in the midst of them,
3 Nihcae khaeah, Loktang kang thuih o, poek nam khraih o moe, nawkta ta baktiah na om o ai nahaeloe, van prae thungah na kun o thai mak ai.
and said: Verily I say to you, Unless you turn and become as little children, you can not enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 To pongah mi kawbaktih doeh hae nawkta ta baktiah poek pahnaemhaih hoiah khosah kami loe, van prae ah kalen koek kami ah om tih.
Whoever, therefore, humbles himself as this little child, is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 Mi kawbaktih doeh nawkta to hae tiah ka hmin hoiah talawk kami loe kai talawk kami ah ni oh.
And whoever receives one such little child on my account, receives me;
6 Toe kai tanghaih tawn hae nawktanawk thung ih kami maeto khaeah zaehaih sahsak kami loe, cangkaehhaih thlung tahnong ah a oihsak moe, kathuk tuipui thungah pakhrak nahaeloe anih han hoih kue tih.
but whoever ensnares one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hung about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
7 Sakpazaehaih hmuen pongah long loe khosak bing! To baktih hmuen sakpazaehaih loe kaom han ih roe ni; toe hmuen sakpazaehaih omsak kami loe khosak bing!
Alas for the world because of snares! for it is necessary that snares come: but alas for that man by whom the snare comes!
8 Na ban mah maw, to tih ai boeh loe na khok mah maw hmuen sah pazae nahaeloe takroek pat ah loe, va ving ah: ban hnetto hoi khok hnetto akoep ah dungzan hmai thungah na krak pongah loe, takpum akoep ai ah hinghaih thungah akun to hoih kue. (aiōnios g166)
If, then, your hand or your foot ensnares you, cut it off, and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, than, having two hands or two feet, to be thrown into the eternal fire. (aiōnios g166)
9 Na mik mah hmuen sahpazae nahaeloe, taprok dok ah loe, va ving ah: mik hnetto hoi hell hmai thungah na krak pongah loe, mik maeto hoiah hinghaih thungah akun to hoih kue. (Geenna g1067)
And if your eye ensnares you, pull it out, and throw it from you. It is better to enter into life with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be thrown into hell-fire. (Geenna g1067)
10 Hae nawktanawk thung ih kami maeto doeh na hnap o han ai ah acoe oh; kang thuih o, nihcae ih van kaminawk mah loe van ah kaom kam Pa ih mikhmai to a hnuk o toepsoep.
Take heed that you despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you, That their angels in heaven do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.
11 Kami Capa loe kanghmaa kami pahlong han ih ni angzoh.
For the Son of man has come to save that which is lost.
12 Kawbangah maw na poek o? Kami maeto loe tuu cumvaito tawnh, tuu maeto loklam amkhraeng ving nahaeloe, anih mah qui takawt, takawtto tuu to caehtaak sut ueloe, mae nuiah a caeh pacoengah, lam amkhraeng ving tuu maeto to pakrong mak ai maw?
What think you? If a man have a hundred sheep, and one of them go astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine, and go into the mountains, and seek for that which has gone astray?
13 Loktang kang thuih o, anih loe lam amkhraeng ai tuu qui takawt, takawtto pongah, a hnuk ih tuu anghmaa maeto nuiah palung anghoe kue.
And if it so be that he find it, verily I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray.
14 To baktih toengah van ah kaom nangcae Ampa loe, hae nawktanawk thung ih kami maeto mataeng doeh anghmatsak han koeh ai.
Even so, it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should be lost.
15 Nam nawkamya mah na nuiah hmuen sah pazae nahaeloe, caeh ah loe, a zaehaih to nangma hnik salak khue ah thui ah: na thuih ih lok to anih mah tahngai nahaeloe, anih to na pazawk.
And if your brother sin against you, go and tell him of his fault between you and him alone; if he hear you, you have gained your brother.
16 Toe anih mah na lok tahgai ai nahaeloe, kami hnetto maw, to tih ai boeh loe thumto hoiah maw caeh ah, hnukung kami hnetto maw, to tih ai boh loe thumto hoiah maw lokcaek ah.
But if he will not hear you, take with you one or two more, that, by the mouth of two or three witnesses, every word may be established.
17 Anih mah nihcae ih lok tahgai ai bae nahaeloe, kricabu khaeah thui ah: kricabu mah thuih ih lok doeh tahngai ai vop nahaeloe, anih to taksa kami hoi tamut cong kami baktiah poek oh.
But if he refuse to hear them, tell it to the church; and if he also refuse to hear the church, let him be to you as a heathen man and a publican.
18 Loktang kang thuih o, Long nuiah na taoengh o ih hmuen boih van ah taoeng ueloe, long nuiah na khram o ih hmuen boih van ah khram tih.
Verily, I say to you, my disciples, Whatever you bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven.
19 Kang thui o let bae, Long nuiah kami hnetto mah poek anghmonghaih hoiah kawbaktih hmuen doeh hnih nahaeloe, van ah kaom kam Pa mah nihnik hanah sah pae tih.
Again, I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about any thing for which they will ask, it shall be done for them by my Father who is in heaven.
20 Kai ih ahmin hoiah kami hnetto maw, thumto maw angpophaih ahmuen ah, nihcae salakah kai ka oh, tiah a naa.
For where there are two or three that have come together for my sake, there I am in the midst of them.
21 To naah Piter to Jesu khaeah caeh moe, Angraeng kam nawkamya mah ka nuiah hmuen sak pazae naah, vai nazetto maw ka tahmen han? Vai sarihto maw? tiah a naa.
Then Peter came to him, and said: Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times?
22 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Kang thuih, vai sarihto khue na ai: qui sarih, alet sarih karoek to, tiah a naa.
Jesus said to him: I say to you, Not till seven times, but till seventy times seven.
23 To pongah van prae loe siangpahrang maeto mah, a tamnanawk khaeah laiba sukhaih hoiah anghmong.
For this reason, the kingdom of heaven is likened to a king that wished to settle accounts with his servants.
24 Anih mah laiba phoisa kroek amtong naah, phoisa sang hato laiba tawn kami maeto, anih khaeah hoih o.
And when he began to make a settlement, there was brought to him one that owed him ten thou sand talents.
25 Anih loe laiba pathok thai ai pongah, phoisa coisakkung mah, a zu a caa hoi a tawnh ih hmuenmae boih zawh pacoengah, laiba pathok hanah lok a thuih pae.
But as he was not able to pay, his lord commanded him, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, to be sold, and payment to be made.
26 To naah tamna loe anih hma ah tabok moe, tahmenhaih hnik, Angraeng, na tahmen raeh, kang pathok boih han hmang, tiah a naa.
Therefore, the servant fell down and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, Lord, and I will pay you all.
27 Tamna ih angraeng mah anih to tahmen moe, laiba to loihsak boih.
And the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and let him go, and forgave him the debt.
28 Toe to tamna loe tasa bangah tacawt naah, anih khaeah phoisa cumvaito kacoi, tamnanawk thungah kaom angmah ih ampui maeto a hnuk: anih to tahnong ah patawnh moe, laiba na pathok lai ah, tiah a naa.
But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hold of him, and took him by the throat, saying: Pay me what you owe.
29 Angmah ih ampui tamna loe anih khokkung ah tabok moe, na tahmen raeh, kang pathok boih han hmang, tiah tahmenhaih hnik.
Then his fellow-servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying: Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.
30 Toe anih to prawt ai: laiba pathok boih ai karoek to anih to thongim thungah pakhrak.
And he would not; but went and threw him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
31 Angmah ih ampui tamnanawk mah to tiah sak ih hmuen to hnuk o naah, paroeai palung set o, nihcae loe caeh o moe, anih mah sak ih hmuennawk to angmacae ih angraeng khaeah a thuih pae o.
When his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were very sad, and went and made known to their lord all that was done.
32 To naah angmah ih angraeng mah, anih to kawk moe, anih khaeah, Aw kahoih ai kami tamna nang, kai khaeah tahmenhaih nang hnik pongah nang baa ih laiba to kang tahmen boih moe, kang loihsak:
Then his lord called him and said to him: Wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt, because you besought me.
33 na nuiah tahmenhaih ka tawnh baktih toengah, nam puinawk nuiah tahmenhaih na tawn toeng han oh bae? tiah a naa.
Ought you not to have had mercy on your fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on you?
34 Anih ih angraeng loe palungphui moe, laiba pathok boih ai karoek to tamna to thongim pakhrah kaminawk khaeah a paek.
And his lord was angry, and delivered him to the jailers, till he should pay all that was due him.
35 Nangcae doeh nam nawkamya zaehaih tahmen han na koeh o ai nahaeloe, van ah kaom kam Pa mah nangcae nuiah to tiah sah toeng tih, tiah a naa.
So also will my heavenly Father do to you, if, from your hearts, you forgive not every one his brother’s offenses.
