< Isaiah 7 >

1 Uzziah capa Jotham, Jotham capa Ahaz, Judah siangpahrang ah oh naah, Syria siangpahrang Rezin hoi Israel siangpahrang Remaliah capa, Rekah loe Jerusalem tuk hanah caeh hoi tahang, toe pazawk hoi thai ai.
And it happened in the days of Ahaz, the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, the king of Judah, that Rezin, the king of Syria, and Pekah, the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, ascended to Jerusalem to battle against it. But they were not able to defeat it.
2 David imthung takoh khaeah, Syria hoi Ephraim loe angbomh hoi boeh, tiah thuih pae o naah, Ahaz hoi anih kaminawk takhi mah hmuh naah kanghuenh taw thung ih thing baktiah tasoehhaih palung to tawnh o.
And they reported to the house of David, saying: “Syria has withdrawn to Ephraim.” And his heart was shaken, with the heart of his people, just as the trees of the forest are moved by the face of the wind.
3 To naah Angraeng mah Isaiah khaeah, Ahaz hoi angqum hanah, kahni pasuk kami ih lawk caehhaih loklam, tui lakhaih aluek bang tuili boenghaih ahmuen ah, na capa Shear-Jashub hoiah caeh hoih;
And the Lord said to Isaiah: Go out to meet Ahaz, you and your son, Jashub, who was left behind, to the end of the aqueduct, at the upper pool, on the road to the fuller’s field.
4 anih khaeah, acoehaih hoiah om duem ah; hmaikhue tacawt thingboeng hnetto ah kaom, Syria siangpahrang Rezin hoi Ramaliah capa hnik palungphuihaih to zii hmah loe, na palungthin doeh thazoksak hmah.
And you shall say to him: “See to it that you are silent. Do not be afraid. And have no dread in your heart over the two tails of these firebrands, nearly extinguished, which are the wrath of the fury of Rezin, king of Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.”
5 Syria, Ephraim hoi Ramaliah capa loe nang amrosak hanah khokhan hoi boeh, nihnik mah,
For Syria has undertaken a plan against you, with the evil of Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, saying:
6 Judah hae tuh si; prae to tapraek boih si loe, amzet o si, Tabel capa to nihcae ukkung siangpahrang ah suem si, tiah a thuih o.
“Let us ascend to Judah, and stir it up, and tear it away for ourselves, and appoint the son of Tabeel as a king in its midst.”
7 Toe Angraeng Sithaw mah, To tiah om mak ai, to tiah angcoeng mak ai.
Thus says the Lord God: This shall not stand, and this shall not be.
8 Syria prae ih lu loe Damaska ni, Rezin loe Damaska ih lu ah oh pongah, saning qui taruk pangato thung, Ephraim loe acaeng kami ah om mak ai, tamit o boih tih.
For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within sixty-five years from now, Ephraim will cease to be a people.
9 Ephraim ih lu loe Samaria, Samaria ih lu loe Ramaliah ih capa ah oh. Nang tang o haih ah, kacak ah nang doe o ai nahaeloe, nang doe o thai poe mak ai, tiah thuih.
For the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you will not believe, you will not continue.
10 Angraeng mah Ahaz khaeah lok thuih pae let,
And the Lord spoke further to Ahaz, saying:
11 kathuk koek ahmuen ah maw, to ai boeh loe kasang koek ahmuen ah maw, na Angraeng Sithaw khaeah angmathaih to hni ah, tiah a naa. (Sheol h7585)
Ask for a sign for yourself from the Lord your God, from the depths below, even to the heights above. (Sheol h7585)
12 Toe Ahaz mah, Ka hnih mak ai, Angraeng to ka tanoek mak ai, tiah a naa.
And Ahaz said, “I will not ask, for I will not tempt the Lord.”
13 To naah Isaiah mah, Aw David imthung takoh, vaihi tahngai oh! Nangcae loe kaminawk thazoksak khue ai ah, ka bok ih ka Sithaw doeh tha na zok o sak han vop maw? tiah a naa.
And he said: “Then listen, O house of David. Is it such a small thing for you to trouble men, that you must also trouble my God?
14 To pongah Angraeng angmah roe nangcae hanah angmathaih to na paek tih; Khenah, tangla cuem maeto loe zokpom tih, anih mah capa maeto sah ueloe, anih to Immanuel, tiah ahminphui tih.
For this reason, the Lord himself will grant to you a sign. Behold, a virgin will conceive, and she will give birth to a son, and his name will be called Immanuel.
15 Anih loe kasae hmuen to pahnawt moe, kahoih hmuen to qoih thai hanah, panoekhaih to tawnh tih; anih loe kamkhawk maitaw tahnutui hoi khoitui to caa tih.
He will eat butter and honey, so that he may know to reject evil and to choose good.
16 Toe to nawkta mah kasae to pahnawt moe, kahoih hmuen qoihaih to panoek ai naah, na zit ih siangpahrang hnik mah uk ih prae to pahnawt sut ah om tih.
But even before the boy knows to refuse evil and to choose good, the land that you detest will be abandoned by the face of her two kings.
17 Ephraim hoi Judah ampraekhaih ni hoi kamtong, Angraeng mah kaom vai ai hmuen to omsak tih; nang hoi nangmah ih kaminawk, nam pa imthung takohnawk to tuk hanah, Assyria siangpahrang to angzosak tih;
The Lord will lead over you, and over your people, and over the house of your father, such days as have not occurred since the days of the separation of Ephraim from Judah by the king of the Assyrians.
18 To na niah Angraeng mah, Izip prae kangthla koek vapuinawk taengah kaom taksaenawk hoi Assyria prae ih khoimiinawk to kawk tih.
And this shall be in that day: the Lord will call for the fly, which is in the most distant parts of the rivers of Egypt, and for the swarm, which is in the land of Assur.
19 Taksaenawk hoi khoimiinawk loe angpoeng o ueloe, kami om ai ahmuen ah kaom azawn, cathaeng khaw, soekhringkungnawk hoi aqam kabuk thingnawk boih nuiah acuuk o tih.
And they will arrive, and they all will rest in the torrents of the valleys, and in the caverns of the rocks, and in every thicket, and in every opening.
20 To na niah loe vapui yaeh ah kaom, Assyria siangpahrang to Angraeng mah sam aat kami ah thlai ueloe, anih mah nangcae ih sam, khokmuinawk hoi toektaboe muinawk to aat tih.
In that day, the Lord will shave with a razor the ones hired by those who are across the river, by the king of the Assyrians, from the head to the hairs of the feet, with the entire beard.
21 To na niah loe kami maeto mah maitaw talaa maeto hoi tuu hnetto pacah tih;
And this shall be in that day: a man will raise a cow among oxen, and two sheep,
22 pop parai tahnutui to tacawtsak pongah, nihcae loe tahnutui kamkhawk to caa o tih; prae thung ih kanghmat kaminawk boih mah tahnutui kamkhawk hoi khoitui to caa o tih.
and, instead of an abundance of milk, he will eat butter. For all who are left behind in the midst of the land will eat butter and honey.
23 To na niah loe phoisa sangto tacawthaih ahmuen hoi misurkung sangto ohhaih ahmuen kruekah, phroh kapring hoi soekhring ni om tih boeh.
And this shall be in that day: every place, where there were a thousand grapevines worth a thousand pieces of silver, will become thorns and briers.
24 Prae thung boih ah phroh kapring hoi soekhring to koi boeh pongah, kaminawk loe kalii maw, palaa maw sin hoiah ni to ahmuen ah caeh o tih boeh.
They will enter such places with arrows and bows. For briers and thorns will be throughout the entire land.
25 Soekhring hoi kapring to zit o pongah, canghniah taoi hoi long takaeh moe, lawk sakhaih maesomnawk nuiah, mi doeh caeh o mak ai boeh; to ahmuen loe maitaw taenawk prathaih ahmuen hoi tuu taenawk paqaihhaih ahmuen ah ni om ving tih boeh, tiah thuih.
But as for all the mountains, which will be dug with a hoe, the terror of thorns and briers will not approach those places. And there will be pasture land for oxen, and a range for cattle.”
