< Ezekiel 17 >

1 Angraeng ih lok kai khaeah angzoh,
The LORD’s word came to me, saying,
2 kami capa, hmuen patahhaih maeto sah ah loe, Israel imthung takoh khaeah patahhaih lok to thui ah,
“Son of man, tell a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel;
3 nihcae khaeah, Angraeng Sithaw mah, Pakhraeh tha kaom parai, pakhraeh kasawk, amui kapop, rong congca kaom tahmu maeto loe Lebanon ah angzoh moe, Sidar thing tanghang to a koeng;
and say, ‘The Lord GOD says: “A great eagle with great wings and long feathers, full of feathers which had various colors, came to Lebanon and took the top of the cedar.
4 anih loe kasang koek tadok to takoih moe, hmuenmae zawhhaih prae ah azawk haih, hmuenmae zawhhaih vangpui ah a thling.
He cropped off the topmost of its young twigs, and carried it to a land of traffic. He planted it in a city of merchants.
5 Prae thung ih amuu to a lak moe, kahoih long ah et pacoengah, kapop tui taeng ih akung baktiah a ohsak.
“‘“He also took some of the seed of the land and planted it in fruitful soil. He placed it beside many waters. He set it as a willow tree.
6 Amprawk moe, a qoeng tahang pacoengah, kahnaem ah amzam misurkung ah angcoeng, tanghangnawk loe tahmu angmah ohhaih bangah angqoi o, toe a ohhaih tlim ah tangzun to sak pongah, misurkung ah angcoeng, tanghangnawk to cawnh moe, tadok tacawt o.
It grew and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him. So it became a vine, produced branches, and shot out sprigs.
7 Toe to ahmuen ah amui kapop, pakhraeh thacak, kalen parai kalah tahmu maeto oh toeng; khenah, misurkung loe angmah ahmuen ah tahmu khae hoi tui hak thai hanah, anih ohhaih bangah tangzun to caeh moe, tanghangnawk doeh anih ohhaih bangah amzam.
“‘“There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. Behold, this vine bent its roots toward him, and shot out its branches toward him, from the ground where it was planted, that he might water it.
8 Tanghangnawk to tacawt moe, athaih pacoengah, kahoih parai misurkung ah angcoeng thai hanah, kahoih long hoi tui pophaih ahmuen ah a thling, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might produce branches and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a good vine.”’
9 Nihcae khaeah, Angraeng Sithaw mah, To baktih misurkung loe hoih tangtang tih maw? Anih mah tangzun to aphong ueloe, athai pakhrik boih pacoengah, misurkung loe azaem ving mak ai maw? Aqamnawk zai boih moe, tangzunnawk aphong pacoengah loe, vah hanah thacak kami hoi kami pop angai mak ai boeh.
“Say, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Will it prosper? Won’t he pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, that it may wither, that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? It can’t be raised from its roots by a strong arm or many people.
10 Ue, khenah, misurkung to thling let cadoeh hoih tang tih maw? Ni angzae bang ih takhi mah hmuh naah azaem ving mak ai maw? Anih loe amprawkhaih ahmuen ah azaem ving tih, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
Yes, behold, being planted, will it prosper? Won’t it utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the ground where it grew.”’”
11 To pacoengah Angraeng ih lok kai khaeah angzoh,
Moreover the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
12 laisaep karah imthung takoh khaeah, Hae hmuennawk thuikoehhaih hae na panoek ai maw? tiah thui paeh. Nihcae khaeah, Khenah, Babylon siangpahrang loe Jerusalem ah caeh moe, Judah siangpahrang hoi angraengnawk to naeh pacoengah, Babylon ah caeh haih ving;
“Say now to the rebellious house, ‘Don’t you know what these things mean?’ Tell them, ‘Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took its king, and its princes, and brought them to him to Babylon.
13 anih loe siangpahrang ih caanawk to kawk moe, angmah hoi lokmaihaih a sak pacoengah, anih khaeah lokkamhaih a saksak; prae thung ih thacak zaehoikungnawk doeh anih mah naeh moe, caeh haih:
He took one of the royal offspring, and made a covenant with him. He also brought him under an oath, and took away the mighty of the land,
14 to pongah to prae loe azaem tathuk, angthawk let thai ai boeh; toe a lokmaihaih pazui naah ni angdoe thai tih.
that the kingdom might be brought low, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.
15 Toe siangpahrang mah anih ih lok to aek moe, hrangnawk, kaminawk to paek let hanah angmah ih laicaehnawk to Izip prae ah patoeh. To hmuen loe angcoeng thai tang tih maw? To baktih hmuen sah kami loe loih tih maw? To tih ai boeh loe lokmaikhaih phrae kami to loih tih maw?
But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Will he prosper? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the covenant, and still escape?
16 Angraeng Sithaw mah, Kai ka hing baktiah, anih han siangpahrang ah sahkung, siangpahrang lokkamhaih to aek moe, lokmaihaih to phraek pongah, anih loe siangpahrang ohhaih ahmuen Babylon vangpui thungah dueh tih.
“‘As I live,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the middle of Babylon he will die.
17 Faro siangpahrang loe kaminawk hum hanah thacak misatuh kaminawk, paroeai kaminawk hoi vangpui sipae to sak moe, misa abuephaih imnawk to sah cadoeh misatuk pazawk mak ai:
Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company won’t help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts to cut off many persons.
18 Jerusalem siangpahrang loe lokmaihaih to patoek moe, lokkamhaihaih a phraek, khenah, lokmaihaih ah a ban to paek boeh, toe hae baktih hmuennawk boih a sak pongah, loih mak ai, tiah thuih.
For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet has done all these things. He won’t escape.
19 To pongah Angraeng Sithaw mah, Kai ka hing baktiah, anih mah ka lokkamhaih to patoek moe, ka lokkamhaih a phraek baktih toengah, anih lu nuiah ka kraksak tangtang han.
“Therefore the Lord GOD says: ‘As I live, I will surely bring on his own head my oath that he has despised and my covenant that he has broken.
20 Anih han palok ka payang pae moe, thaang pongah ka mansak han, kai khaeah oep kaom ah khosah ai, zaehaih a sak pongah, anih to Babylon ah ka hoih moe, to ah lok ka caek han, tiah thuih.
I will spread my net on him, and he will be taken in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon, and will enter into judgment with him there for his trespass that he has trespassed against me.
21 Anih khae hoi kacawn kaminawk hoi misatuh kaminawk loe sumsen hoi dueh o tih, anghmat kaminawk loe takhi songhaih ahmuen kruekah amhet o phang tih; to naah Kai, Angraeng mah thuih boeh, tiah na panoek o tih, tiah thuih.
All his fugitives in all his bands will fall by the sword, and those who remain will be scattered toward every wind. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken it.’
22 Angraeng Sithaw mah, Kaimah roe sidar thing tadong nui ih tadok to ka lak moe, ka thling han; tadong ih tadok kanawknawk to ka khaeh moe, ahmuen kamtueng maesang nuiah ka thling han.
“The Lord GOD says: ‘I will also take some of the lofty top of the cedar, and will plant it. I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
23 Israel maesang nuiah ka thling han; to naah tanghangnawk to tacawt o tih, athaih athai o ueloe, kahoih parai sidarkung ah angcoeng o tih: van ih tavaa congcanawk loe, to thingkung tlim hoi tanghangnawk tahlip ah abuep o tih, tiah thuih.
I will plant it in the mountain of the height of Israel; and it will produce boughs, and bear fruit, and be a good cedar. Birds of every kind will dwell in the shade of its branches.
24 Taw ih thingkungnawk boih mah, Kai, Angraeng mah kasang parai thing to ahnaemsak moe, kahnaem thing to sangsak boeh, kahing thing to angqosak moe, angqo thing to hingsak boeh, tito panoek o tih; Kai, Angraeng loe thuih ih lok baktiah ka sak han, tiah thuih.
All the trees of the field will know that I, the LORD, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree flourish. “‘I, the LORD, have spoken and have done it.’”
