If someone is found slain in the land which the LORD your God gives you to possess, lying in the field, and it isn’t known who has struck him,
2 kacoehtanawk hoi lokcaekkungnawk to caeh o ueloe, qok ohhaih ahmuen hoiah kazoi koek vangpuinawk loe nasetto maw angthla, tito tah oh.
then your elders and your judges shall come out, and they shall measure to the cities which are around him who is slain.
3 To pacoengah qok hoi anghnai koek vangpui ih kacoehtanawk mah, toksah vai ai laikok atokhaih thing ruet vai ai maitaw tala to la o ueloe,
It shall be that the elders of the city which is nearest to the slain man shall take a heifer of the herd, which hasn’t been worked with and which has not drawn in the yoke.
4 lawk sak han vat vai ai, aanmu doeh patii vai ai azawn ah maitaw tala to caeh haih pacoengah, to ahmuen ah maitaw tala ih tahnong to aat o tih;
The elders of that city shall bring the heifer down to a valley with running water, which is neither plowed nor sown, and shall break the heifer’s neck there in the valley.
5 na Angraeng Sithaw ih tok kasah, Angraeng ih ahmin hoiah tahamhoihaih paek hanah qoih ih, Levi acaeng qaimanawk angzo o ueloe, lokpunghaih hoi humhaih nuiah lok to takroek o tih:
The priests the sons of Levi shall come near, for them the LORD your God has chosen to minister to him, and to bless in the LORD’s name; and according to their word shall every controversy and every assault be decided.
6 qok ohhaih ahmuen hoi anghnai koek vangpui thung ih kacoehtanawk loe, to azawn ih vacong ah tahnong aah o ih maitaw tala nuiah ban to amsae o tih,
All the elders of that city which is nearest to the slain man shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley.
7 hae athii loe kaicae ih ban hoiah long ai; mik hoiah doeh ka hnu o ai.
They shall answer and say, “Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.
8 Aw Angraeng, na krang ih Israel kaminawk hae tahmen ah; zaehaih tawn ai kami ih athii tho lu lakhaih loe nangmah ih Israel kaminawk nuiah krahsak hmah, tiah thui o tih. To tiah sah nahaeloe kami athii palonghaih to tahmen tih.
Forgive, LORD, your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, and don’t allow innocent blood among your people Israel.” The blood shall be forgiven them.
9 Angraeng mikhnuk ah kamsoem hmuen to na sak o pongah, zaehaih tawn ai kami ih athii palonghaih hoiah na ciim o tih.
So you shall put away the innocent blood from among you, when you shall do that which is right in the LORD’s eyes.
10 Misatuk han na caeh naah, na Angraeng mah nangcae ban ah misanawk to ang paek, nihcae to tamna ah na naeh,
When you go out to battle against your enemies, and the LORD your God delivers them into your hands and you carry them away captive,
11 misong ah na naeh ih nongpatanawk thungah kranghoih parai nongpata maeto oh, anih to na khit parai nahaeloe, zu ah na lak thaih;
and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and you are attracted to her, and desire to take her as your wife,
12 to nongpata to na im ah caeh haih ah loe a sam to aat paeh, a banpacinnawk doeh aat paeh loe,
then you shall bring her home to your house. She shall shave her head and trim her nails.
13 misong ah na naeh nathuem ih khukbuennawk to khring pae boih ah, na im ah omsak ah loe, khrahto thung amno hoi ampa dawnhaih palungsae dip pacoengah, a taengah caeh ah; nang loe anih ih sava ah om ah, anih doeh na zu ah om tih.
She shall take off the clothing of her captivity, and shall remain in your house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month. After that you shall go in to her and be her husband, and she shall be your wife.
14 To pacoengah anih to na koeh ai nahaeloe, angmah koeh ah caehsak ah; toe anih to azat na paek boeh pongah, phoisa hoi zaw hmah loe, misong baktiah doeh suem hmah.
It shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall let her go where she desires; but you shall not sell her at all for money. You shall not deal with her as a slave, because you have humbled her.
15 Kami maeto mah zu hnetto tawnh; zu maeto loe palung moe, kalah maeto loe a hnukma; a palung ih zu doeh a hnukma ih zu doeh caa sak hoi hmaek; a hnukma ih zu mah anih hanah capa to sah pae hmaloe nahaeloe,
If a man has two wives, the one beloved and the other hated, and they have borne him children, both the beloved and the hated, and if the firstborn son is hers who was hated,
16 to kami mah a tawnh ih qawk to a caa hnik khaeah pazet naah, a hnukma ih zu mah sak pae ih calu han paek koi qawk to, a palung kue ih zu mah sak pae ih capa hanah paek lat mak ai;
then it shall be, in the day that he causes his sons to inherit that which he has, that he may not give the son of the beloved the rights of the firstborn before the son of the hated, who is the firstborn;
17 a hnukma ih zu mah sak ih capa loe calu ni, tiah panoek moe, a tawnh ih hmuennawk boih thung hoiah anih to alet hnetto paek han oh; to capa loe ampa thacak tangsuekhaih ah oh pongah, calu angdoethaih ahmuen loe anih ih qawk ah oh.
but he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the hated, by giving him a double portion of all that he has; for he is the beginning of his strength. The right of the firstborn is his.
18 Kami maeto loe amno hoi ampa lok tahngai ai, lokaek thaih capa maeto tawnh; amno hoi ampa mah a capa thuitaek naah, lok tahngai ai nahaeloe,
If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and though they chasten him, will not listen to them,
19 amno hoi ampa mah anih to naeh ueloe, kacoehtanawk ohhaih vangpui thungah caeh hoi haih tih;
then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city and to the gate of his place.
20 vangpui thungah kaom kacoehtanawk khaeah, Hae ka capa loe palungthah parai moe, lok tahngai ai; ka thuih hoi ih lok doeh tahngai ai; anih loe caak amoeh moe, mu paquih thaih kami ah oh, tiah thui pae hoi tih.
They shall tell the elders of his city, “This our son is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey our voice. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”
21 To naah to vangpui thungah kaom kaminawk boih mah anih to duek khoek to thlung hoiah va o tih; to tiah kasae hmuen to nangcae salak hoiah takhoe oh; to tiah ni Israel kaminawk boih mah thaih o naah, zii o tih.
All the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall remove the evil from among you. All Israel shall hear, and fear.
22 Kami maeto loe duek han krah zaehaih to a sak, anih loe hum han oh boeh pongah, thing nuiah bang hoiah hum nahaeloe,
If a man has committed a sin worthy of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree,
23 kadueh qok to aqum puek thing nuiah suek han om ai, duekhaih niah aphum roep han oh; (mi kawbaktih doeh thing pongah angbang kami loe, Sithaw tangoenghaih tongh kami ah oh); na Angraeng Sithaw mah qawk ah paek ih prae to, nam hnong o sak han ai ah to tiah sak han oh.
his body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him the same day; for he who is hanged is accursed of God. Don’t defile your land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.
