< 1 Siangpahrang 1 >

1 David siangpahrang loe mitong moe, saning doeh coeh boeh; khukbuen angkhuk o sak; toe ngan to bae thai ai boeh.
Now, King David, was old, advanced in days, —and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.
2 To pongah a tamnanawk mah anih khaeah, Ka angraeng siangpahrang khetzawn hanah, tangla kacuem maeto pakrong pae o si; anih mah ka angraeng siangpahrang to poeknawmsak nasoe loe, ngan bet thaih hanah anih taengah iip pae nasoe, tiah thuih o.
Wherefore his servants said unto him—Let there be sought for my lord the king, a young woman—a virgin, so shall she stand before the king, that she may become his companion, —and she shall lie in thy bosom, and my lord the king shall get, heat.
3 To pongah Israel prae boih ah kranghoih tangla to pakrong pae o, to naah Shunam kami Abishag to a hnuk o; anih to siangpahrang khaeah hoih o.
So they sought a fair young woman, throughout all the bounds of Israel, —and found Abishag, the Shunammite, and brought her in, unto the king.
4 To tangla loe kranghoih parai; anih mah siangpahrang to khetzawn; toe siangpahrang loe anih hoiah taksa angkomhaih om ai.
Now, the young woman, was exceeding fair, —so she became unto the king a companion, and ministered unto him, but, the king, knew her not.
5 To naah Haggith capa Adonijah mah, Kai loe siangpahrang ah ka om tih boeh, tiah angmah hoi angmah to kasangah amkoeh. To pongah hrang lakoknawk hoi hrangnawk to lak moe, angmah hmaa ah cawnh hanah kami quipangato qoih.
And, Adonijah son of Haggith, exalted himself, saying—I, will be king. Therefore prepared he for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
6 Anih loe ampa mah, Tipongah hae baktih hmuen na sak loe? tiah thuitaek vai ai; anih loe krang doeh hoih parai, Absalom ih amnawk ah oh.
Now his father had not displeased him all his days, by saying—Why, thus, hast thou done? Moreover also, he, was of exceeding handsome appearance, and, him, did his mother bear, after Absolom.
7 Adonijah loe Zeruiah capa Joab, qaima Abiathar hoiah lok angdueng o; nihnik mah Adonijah to angdoet hoi haih.
So then he had speech with Joab, son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest, —and they gave help, following Adonijah.
8 Toe qaima Zadok, Jehoiada capa Benaiah, tahmaa Nathan, thacak David ih misatoep kami Shimei hoi Rei cae mah loe Adonijah to angdoe o haih ai.
But, Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
9 To naah Adonijah loe angmah ih nawkamya siangpahrang capanawk hoi siangpahrang ih tamna Judah kaminawk to kawk moe, tuu, maitaw tae hoi maitaw caa kathawk to lak moe, En Rogel vangpui taengah kaom Zoheleth ih thlung nuiah angbawnhaih to a sak.
And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and heifers, near the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel, —and invited all his brethren, sons of the king, and all the men of Judah, servants of the king;
10 Toe tahmaa Nathan, Benaiah, thacak misatoep kaminawk hoi amnawk Solomon to kawk ai.
but, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he invited not.
11 To naah tahmaa Nathan mah Solomon amno Bathsheba khaeah, Aicae angraeng David panoek ai ah, Haggith capa Adonijah loe siangpahrang ah oh boeh, tito na panoek maw?
Then spake Nathan unto Bath-sheba mother of Solomon, saying—Hast thou not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith hath become king, and, our lord David, knoweth it not?
12 To pongah vaihi na hinghaih hoi na capa Solomon hinghaih to pahlong hanah lok kang thuih han.
Now, therefore, come; let me give thee counsel, I pray thee, —so shalt thou rescue thine own life, and the life of thy son, Solomon.
13 David siangpahrang khaeah caeh loe anih khaeah, Aw, ka angraeng, siangpahrang, Kai pacoengah loe, na capa Solomon to siangpahrang ah om tih, anih loe kang hnuthaih angraeng tangkhang pongah anghnu tih, tiah na tamna kai khaeah lok na thuih na ai maw? Tipongah Adonijah loe siangpahrang ah oh loe? tiah thui ah.
Go, and get thee in unto King David, and thou shalt say unto him—Didst not, thou thyself, my lord O king, swear unto thy handmaid, saying—Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, yea, he, shall sit upon my throne? Why, then, hath, Adonijah, become king?
14 Khenah, siangpahrang khaeah to tiah lok na thuih li naah, kai kang kun moe, na thuih ih lok to kang doet haih han, tiah a naa.
Lo! while thou art yet speaking there with the king, I also, will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.
15 To pongah Bathsheba loe, Shunam kami Abishag mah khetzawn ih, mitong siangpahrang khaeah, imkhaan thungah caeh.
So Bath-sheba went in unto the king, into the chamber, now, the king, was very old, —and Abishag the Shunammite, was ministering unto the king.
16 A phak naah Bathsheba loe siangpahrang hmaa ah akuep tathuk. Siangpahrang mah, Timaw na koeh? tiah a naa.
And Bath-sheba bowed, and did homage unto the king, —and the king said—What aileth thee?
17 To naah anih mah siangpahrang khaeah, Ka angraeng, na Angraeng Sithaw ih ahmin hoiah na tamna kai khaeah, Kai pacoeng loe, na capa Solomon hae siangpahrang ah om ueloe, kang hnuthaih angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnu tih, tiah lok na thuih.
And she said unto him—My lord, thou thyself, didst swear by Yahweh thy God, unto thy handmaid, Assuredly, Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, —yea, he, shall sit upon my throne.
18 Toe khenah, Adonijah vaihi siangpahrang ah oh boeh, tito ka angraeng, siangpahrang nang mah na panoek ai;
But, now, lo! Adonijah, hath become king; now, therefore, my lord, O king, thou knowest it not:
19 anih loe maitaw taenawk, kathawk parai maitawnawk hoi paroeai tuunawk to boh moe, siangpahrang capanawk boih, qaima Abiathar hoi misatuh angraeng Joab to a kawk; toe na tamna Solomon loe kawk ai.
and he hath sacrificed oxen and heifers and sheep, in abundance, and hath invited all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab general of the army, —but, Solomon thy servant, hath he not invited.
20 Aw ka angraeng, siangpahrang, Siangpahrang nang pacoengah, mi maw angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnu tih, tiah khet hanah, Israel kaminawk boih ih mik loe na nuiah ni oh.
Thou, therefore, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel, are upon thee, —to tell them, who shall sit upon the throne of my lord the king, after him.
21 To tih ai nahaeloe ka angraeng, siangpahrang ampanawk khaeah anghak pacoengah, kai hoi ka capa Solomon loe kami kazae baktiah ni na sah o tih boeh, tiah a naa.
Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, then shall I and my son Solomon be counted, offenders.
22 Khenah, anih mah siangpahrang khaeah lokthuih li naah, tahmaa Nathan to athungah akun.
And lo! while yet she was speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet, came in.
23 Nihnik mah siangpahrang khaeah, Tahmaa Nathan hae ah oh, tiah a naa. To pongah tahmaa loe siangpahrang hmaa ah caeh moe, a mikhmai long ah akuep pae.
So they told the king, saying, Lo! Nathan the prophet! And, when he had come in before the king, he bowed himself down to the king with his face to the ground.
24 Nathan mah, Aw ka angraeng, siangpahrang, kai pacoengah, Adonijah hae siangpahrang ah om ueloe, ka angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnu tih, tiah na thuih maw?
Then said Nathan—My lord, O king, hast, thou, said, Adonijah, shall become king after me, —yea, he, shall sit upon my throne?
25 Anih loe vaihniah caeh tathuk moe, maitaw taenawk, kathawk parai maitaw caa hoi paroeai tuunawk to angbawnhaih ah a paek; siangpahrang capanawk boih, misatuh angraengnawk hoi qaima Abiathar to a kawk; nihcae loe Adonijah hmaa ah buhcaak o moe, a naek o; Adonijah siangpahrang hinglung sawk nasoe, tiah a hang o.
For he hath gone down to-day, and hath sacrificed oxen and heifers and sheep, in abundance, and hath invited all the sons of the king, and the generals of the army, and Abiathar the priest, and, there they are—eating and drinking before him, —and they have said—Long live King Adonijah!
26 Toe na tamna kai hoi qaima Zadok, Jehoiada capa Benaiah, na tamna Solomon loe kawk o ai.
But, me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Solomon thy servant, hath he not invited.
27 Hae hmuen hae na tamna panoeksak ai ah, ka angraeng, siangpahrang mah, siangpahrang angmah pacoengah, angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnu han koi kami to na suek boeh maw? tiah a naa.
If, of my lord the king, this thing had been brought to pass, then wouldest thou not have made known unto thy servant, who should sit upon the throne of my lord the king, after him?
28 To pacoengah David siangpahrang mah, Bathsheba to kawsak. Anih loe siangpahrang hmaa ah angzoh moe, a hmaa ah angdoet.
Then responded King David, and said, Call me Bath-sheba. So she came in before the king, and stood before the king.
29 To naah siangpahrang mah, Raihaih ka tongh naah ka hinghaih pahlongkung, Angraeng loe hing pongah,
And the king sware, and said, —By the life of Yahweh, who hath redeemed my life out of every strait,
30 Israel Angraeng Sithaw ih ahmin hoiah nang khaeah, kai pacoengah loe, na capa Solomon to siangpahrang ah om tih, anih loe kai zuengah ka angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnu tih, tiah ka sak ih lokkamhaih to vaihniah ka koepsak han, tiah a naa.
even as I sware unto thee by Yahweh, God of Israel, saying, Assuredly, Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, yea, he, shall sit upon my throne, in my stead, even so, will I do this day.
31 To naah Bathsheba loe long ah akuep tathuk moe, siangpahrang to khingyahaih paek pacoengah, Ka angraeng, siangpahrang David loe dungzan khoek to hing nasoe, tiah a naa.
Then Bath-sheba bowed with her face to the ground, and did homage unto the king, —and said—Let my lord, King David, live to times age-abiding!
32 David siangpahrang mah, Qaima Zadok, tahmaa Nathan hoi Jehoiada capa Benaiah to kawk oh, tiah a naa. Nihcae loe siangpahrang hmaa ah angzoh o.
Then said King David—Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada. And they came in before the king.
33 Siangpahrang mah nihcae khaeah, Na angraeng ih tamnanawk to kawk oh; kaimah ih hrang nuiah ka capa Solomon to angthueng o sak loe, Gihon ah caeh o haih tathuk ah.
Then said the king unto them—Take ye with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon the mule which pertaineth unto myself, —and bring him down unto Gihon;
34 To ahmuen ah qaima Zadok hoi tahmaa Nathan mah, anih to Israel kaminawk ih siangpahrang ni, tiah situi bawh hoi nasoe; mongkah to ueng oh loe, Solomon siangpahrang to Sithaw mah hinglung sawksak nasoe, tiah hang oh.
then shall Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there as king over Israel, —and ye shall blow with the horn, and say—Long live King Solomon!
35 To pacoengah anih hoi nawnto caeh o tahang ah, anih loe kai ih angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnu ueloe, kai zuengah siangpahrang ah om tih. Anih to Israel hoi Judah kaminawk ukkung ah ka caksak boeh, tiah a naa.
Then shall ye come up after him, and he shall enter, and sit upon my throne, yea, he, shall become king in my stead; even, him, have I charged to become leader, over Israel, and over Judah.
36 Jehoiada capa Benaiah mah, Amen; ka angraeng, siangpahrang ih Angraeng Sithaw mah to tiah thuih boeh.
Then did Benaiah son of Jehoiada make response unto the king, and say—Amen! so, say Yahweh, God of my lord the king.
37 Angraeng loe ka angraeng siangpahrang hoi nawnto oh baktih toengah, ka angraeng David siangpahrang pongah kalen kue angraeng tangkhang ah oh hanah, Anih mah Solomon to om thuih nasoe, tiah a naa.
As Yahweh hath been with my lord the king, so, let him he with Solomon, —and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord, King David.
38 To pongah qaima Zadok, tahmaa Nathan, Jehoiada capa Benaiah, Kereth kaminawk hoi Peleth kaminawk loe caeh o tathuk moe, Solomon to David ih mule hrang nuiah angthueng o sak pacoengah, Gihon ah caeh o haih.
So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, with the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon the mule of King David, —and they escorted him to Gihon.
39 Qaima Zadok mah kahni imthung ih tuu takii thung ih situi tabu to lak moe, Solomon to bawh. To pacoengah mongkah to uengh o, kaminawk boih mah, Sithaw mah Solomon siangpahrang hinglung sawksak nasoe, tiah hang o.
Then took Zadok the priest, the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon, —and they blew with a [ram’s] horn, and all the people said, Long live King Solomon!
40 Kaminawk boih anih hnukah caeh o tahang, kaminawk loe tamoi uengh o moe, paroeai anghoe o; nihcae ih lok pongah long to anghuenh.
And all the people came up after him, the people themselves also, playing with flutes, and rejoicing with great joy, —so that the earth rent with the sound of them.
41 Adonijah hoi a taengah kaom angvinnawk boih mah buhcaak pacoeng tom naah to lok to thaih o; Joab mah mongkah lok to thaih naah, Tipongmaw vangpui loe atuen apawk hoiah koi? tiah a naa.
And Adonijah, and all the guests who were with him, heard it, just as, they, had made an end of eating, —and, when Joab heard the sound of a horn, he said—Wherefore the noise of the city, in tumult?
42 To tiah lokthuih li naah, khenah, qaima Abiathar capa Jonathan to angzoh; Adonijah mah anih khaeah, Athung akun ah; nang loe kahoih kami ah na oh pongah, tamthang kahoih ni nang thui tih, tiah a naa.
While yet he was speaking, lo! Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest, came in, —and Adonijah said—Come in, for, a worthy man, thou art, and, good tidings, dost thou bring.
43 Jonathan mah Adonijah khaeah, Aicae angraeng David mah Solomon to siangpaharng ah ohsak boeh.
But Jonathan responded and said to Adonijah, —Of a truth, our lord, King David, hath made, Solomon, king.
44 Siangpahrang mah anih to qaima Zadok, tahmaa Nathan, Jehoiada capa Benaiah, Kereth kaminawk, Peleth kaminawk hoi nawnto patoeh moe, anih to siangpahrang ih mule hrang nuiah angthueng o sak boeh;
And the king hath sent with him—Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, with the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, —and they have caused him to ride upon the mule of the king;
45 qaima Zadok hoi tahmaa Nathan mah anih to Gihon ah siangpahrang ah situi bawh hoi boeh; nihcae loe to ahmuen hoiah anghoehaih hoi angzoh o pongah, vangpui to anghuenh. To atuen apawk ni a thaih o.
and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king, in Gihon, and they went up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again, —That, is the noise ye have heard.
46 To pacoengah Solomon loe siangpahrang angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnut boeh.
Moreover also, Solomon hath taken his seat upon the throne of the kingdom.
47 Siangpahrang ih tamnanawk doeh anghoehaih lokthuih hanah aicae angraeng, David siangpahrang khaeah angzoh o; Sithaw mah Solomon ih ahmin to na hmin pongah lensak kue nasoe loe, anih ih angraeng tangkhang doeh nang ih angraeng tangkhang pongah len kue nasoe, tiah a naa o. Siangpahrang loe angsonghaih ahmuen ah tabok moe, Sithaw to a bok.
Moreover also, the servants of the king have been in, to bless our lord King David, saying—Thy God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne, —And the king bowed himself upon his bed.
48 Kaih ih angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnu han kami to vaihniah, ka mik hoiah nang hnuksak boeh pongah, Israel Angraeng Sithaw loe tahamhoihaih om nasoe, tiah a thuih, tiah a naa.
Moreover also, thus and thus, hath said the king, —Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who hath given, to-day, one to sit upon my throne, mine own eyes also beholding it.
49 To lok to Adonijah hoi nawnto kaom angvinnawk boih mah thaih o naah, zit o pongah angthawk moe, angmacae ih loklam ah caeh o boih.
Then trembled and rose up, all Adonijah’s guests, —and departed, every man his own way.
50 Toe Adonijah mah Solomon to zit pongah, caeh moe, hmaicam pong ih takii to patawnh hoiah oh.
Adonijah also, feared because of Solomon, —and rose and went, and caught hold of the horns of the altar.
51 Khenah, Adonijah mah Solomon siangpaharng to zit pongah, hmaicam pong ih takii to patawnh caeng moe, Solomon siangpahrang mah kai khaeah, anih ih tamna to angmah ih sumsen hoiah ka hum mak ai, tiah vaihniah lokkamhaih sah nasoe, tiah a thuih, tiah Solomon khaeah thuih pae o.
And it was told Solomon, saying, Lo! Adonijah, feareth King Solomon, —lo! therefore, he hath laid hold of the horns of the altar, saying, Let King Solomon swear unto me at once that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.
52 Solomon mah, Angmah hoi angmah to kami kahoih ah om nahaeloe, a lu nui ih sam maeto doeh long ah krah mak ai; toe a nuiah sethaih om nahaeloe dueh tih, tiah a naa.
Then said Solomon, If he will be a man of worth, there shall not one hair of him fall to the earth, —but, if mischief be found in him, then shall he die.
53 To pacoengah Solomon siangpahrang mah kami to patoeh moe, anih to hmaicam hoiah angzoh o haih tathuk. Adonijah loe angzoh moe, Solomon siangpahrang hmaa ah akuep; to naah Solomon mah nangmah im ah amlaem ah, tiah a naa.
So King Solomon sent, and brought him down from the altar, and he came in, and bowed himself down to King Solomon, —and Solomon said unto him—Go to thine own house.
