1 Mwana wanzeru amamvera malangizo a abambo ake, koma mwana wonyoza samamvetsera chidzudzulo.
A wise son hears his father's instruction, but a scoffer listens not to rebuke.
2 Munthu amapeza zinthu zabwino chifukwa cha mawu ake, koma anthu osakhulupirika amalakalaka zachiwawa basi.
A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth, but the soul of the treacherous, violence.
3 Iye amene amagwira pakamwa pake amateteza moyo wake, koma amene amayankhula zopanda pake adzawonongeka.
He who guards his mouth keeps his life. He who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
4 Munthu waulesi amakhumbira zinthu koma sapeza kanthu, koma munthu wakhama adzalemera.
The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5 Munthu wolungama amadana ndi zabodza, koma zochita za munthu woyipa zimanyansa ndiponso zimachititsa manyazi.
A righteous man hates lying, but a wicked man is loathsome, and comes to shame.
6 Chilungamo chimateteza munthu wangwiro, koma tchimo limagwetsa munthu wochimwa.
Righteousness guards him who is upright in the way, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
7 Wina amadziyesa kuti ndi wolemera chonsecho alibe kanthu kalikonse; munthu wina amaoneka ngati wosauka chonsecho ali ndi chuma chambiri.
There is he who makes himself rich, yet has nothing, and he who makes himself poor, yet has great wealth.
8 Chuma cha munthu wolemera chitha kuwombola moyo wake, koma munthu wosauka amamva chidzudzulo.
The ransom of a man's life is his riches, but the poor hears no threatening.
9 Nyale ya munthu wolungama ndi yokondweretsa, koma nyale ya munthu woyipa imazimitsidwa.
The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10 Chipongwe chosamalabadirako za anthu ena chimadzetsa mikangano, koma womva malangizo a anzawo ndiwo ali ndi nzeru.
Through pride a vain man causes contention, but wisdom is with the well-advised.
11 Chuma chochipeza mofulumira chidzatha pangʼonopangʼono koma chuma chosonkhanitsidwa pangʼonopangʼono chidzachulukirachulukira.
Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished, but he who gathers by labor shall have increase.
12 Chinthu chochiyembekezera chikalephereka chimalefula mtima, koma chinthu chochilakalaka chikachitikadi chimakhala ngati mtengo wamoyo.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.
13 Amene amanyoza malangizo adzawonongeka, koma amene amasamala lamulo amalandira mphotho.
He who despises the word brings destruction on himself, but he who fears the commandment shall be rewarded.
14 Malangizo a munthu wanzeru ali ngati kasupe wamoyo; amathandiza munthu kuti asakondwe mu msampha wa imfa.
The law of a wise man is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

Every prudent man works with knowledge, but a fool flaunts folly.
17 Wamthenga woyipa amagwetsa anthu mʼmavuto, koma nthumwi yodalirika imabweretsa mtendere.
A wicked messenger falls into evil, but a faithful ambassador is health.
18 Wokana mwambo adzasauka ndi kunyozedwa, koma wosamala chidzudzulo adzalemekezedwa.
Poverty and shame are to him who refuses correction, but he who regards reproof shall be honored.
19 Chinthu chochilakalaka chikachitika chimasangalatsa mtima, koma zitsiru zimadana ndi kuleka zoyipa.
The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, but it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20 Woyenda ndi anthu anzeru nayenso adzakhala wanzeru; koma woyenda ndi zitsiru adzapwetekeka.
Walk with wise men, and thou shall be wise. But the companion of fools shall smart for it.
21 Choyipa chitsata mwini, koma wochita zolungama adzalandira mphotho yabwino.
Evil pursues sinners, but the righteous shall be recompensed with good.
22 Munthu wabwino amasiyira zidzukulu zake cholowa, koma chuma cha munthu wochimwa amachilandira ndi olungama.
A good man leaves an inheritance to his son's sons, and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.
23 Tsala la munthu wosauka limalola chakudya chambiri, koma anthu opanda chilungamo amachilanda.
Much food is in the tillage of the poor, but there is that is consumed because of injustice.
24 Amene sakwapula mwana wake, ndiye kuti amamuda, koma wokonda mwana wake sazengereza kumulanga.
He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him chastens him promptly.
25 Munthu wolungama amakhala ndi zakudya zoti adye nʼkukhuta, koma mʼmimba mwa munthu woyipa mumakhala pululu ndi njala.
A righteous man eats to the satisfying of his soul, but the belly of the wicked shall want.
