< ᏣᏂ ᏄᏍᏛ ᎠᏥᎾᏄᎪᏫᏎᎸᎢ 18 >

1 ᎾᏍᎩᏃ ᎯᎠ ᏄᎵᏍᏔᏂᏙᎸ ᏅᏩᏓᎴ ᏗᎧᎿᎭᏩᏗᏙᎯ ᎥᏥᎪᎥᎩ ᎦᎸᎳᏗ ᏓᏳᏠᎠᏒᎩ, ᎤᏣᏘ ᎤᎵᏂᎩᏛ ᎨᏒᎩ; ᎾᏍᎩᏃ ᎤᏤᎵ ᎦᎸᏉᏗᏳ ᎨᏒ ᎡᎶᎯ ᎢᎦ ᎤᏘᏍᏔᏅᎩ.
After this I saw another angel, descending from Heaven, invested with great authority; and the earth was illuminated by his splendour.
2 ᎠᎴ ᎠᏍᏓᏯ ᎤᏪᎷᏅᎩ ᎤᎵᏂᎩᏛ ᎧᏁᎬ ᎬᏗ, ᎯᎠ ᏂᎦᏪᏍᎬᎩ, ᏓᏓᎶᏂ ᎡᏆ ᎠᏲᎩ, ᎠᏲᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᏂᏍᎩᎾ ᎤᎾᏕᏗᏱ ᏂᎦᎵᏍᏓ, ᎠᎴ ᎾᏂᎥ ᎠᏂᎦᏓᎭ ᏗᏓᏅᏙ ᎤᏂᏴᏍᏗᏱ, ᎠᎴ ᎾᏂᎥ ᎠᏂᎦᏓᎭ ᎠᎴ ᎤᏂᏂᏆᏘᏍᏗ ᏥᏍᏆ ᎤᎾᏁᎳᏗᏍᏗᏱ.
With a mighty voice he cried — ‘She has fallen! She has fallen — Babylon the Great! She has become an abode of demons, a stronghold of every wicked spirit, a stronghold of every foul and hateful bird.
3 ᏂᎦᏗᏳᏰᏃ ᎤᎾᏓᏤᎵᏛ ᏴᏫ ᏓᏁᏩᏗᏒ ᎤᎾᏗᏔᎲ ᎩᎦᎨ-ᎠᏗᏔᏍᏗ ᎤᏔᎳᏬᎯᏍᏗ ᎨᏒ ᎤᏓᏑᏱ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏕᎵᏛ ᏚᏂᏏᏂᏙᎸ ᎢᏳᏩᏂᏌᏛ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᏂᎬᏫᏳᎯ ᎡᎶᎯ ᎠᏁᎯ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏕᎵᏛ ᏚᎾᏂᏏᏂᏙᎸ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᏂᏃᏗᏍᎩ ᎡᎶᎯ ᎠᏁᎯ ᏚᏁᏅᎢᏍᏔᏅ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏣᏘ ᎤᏢᏉᏗ ᎡᎲᎢ.
For, after drinking the maddening wine of her licentiousness, all the nations have fallen; while all the kings of the earth have had licentious intercourse with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich through the excess of her luxury.’
4 ᎠᎴ ᏅᏩᏓᎴ ᎩᎶ ᏗᎧᏁᎬ ᎦᎸᎳᏗ ᎠᏆᏛᎦᏅᎩ, ᎯᎠ ᏅᏓᎦᏪᏍᎬᎩ, ᏂᎯ ᏗᏆᏤᎵᎦ ᏴᏫ ᎡᏥᏄᎪᎢ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᎢᏣᏠᏯᏍᏙᏗᏱ ᏂᎨᏒᎾ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏍᎦᏅᏥᏙᎸᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏤᎵ ᎤᏕᏯᏙᏗ ᎨᏒ ᎢᏣᏠᏯᏍᏙᏗᏱ ᏂᎨᏒᎾ.
Then I heard another voice from Heaven saying — ‘Come out of her, my People, that you may not participate in her sins, and that you may not suffer from the Curses inflicted upon her.
5 ᎤᏍᎦᏅᏥᏙᎸᏰᏃ ᎦᎸᎳᏗ ᎢᏴᏛ ᏭᎷᏨ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ ᎤᏅᏓᏛ ᎤᏲᏚᎸᏫᏍᏓᏁᎵᏙᎸᎢ.
For her sins are heaped up to the heavens, and God has not forgotten her misdeeds.
6 ᎡᏣᎫᏴᏏ ᎾᏍᎩᏯ ᎢᏣᎫᏴᎡᎸᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᏔᎵ ᎢᏳᏩᎫᏗ ᎡᏣᎫᏴᏏ ᎾᏍᎩᏯ ᏚᎸᏫᏍᏓᏁᎸᎢ; ᎤᎵᏍᏈᏗ ᎤᎧᎵᎸᎯ ᎾᏍᎩ ᏔᎵ ᎢᏳᏩᎫᏗ ᎡᏥᎧᎵᎢᏏ.
Pay her back the treatment with which she has treated you; yes, repay twice over what her actions deserve; in the cup which she mixed for you, mix for her as much again;
7 ᎾᏍᎩ ᏂᎦᎥ ᎤᏩᏒ ᎤᏓᎸᏉᏔᏅᎢ ᎠᎴ ᎤᏢᏉᏗ ᎤᏕᏅᎢ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᎢᎦᎢ ᎠᎩᎵᏯ ᎠᎴ ᎤᏲ ᎠᏓᏅᏓᏗᏍᏗ ᎨᏒ ᎡᏥᎥᏏ; ᎤᎾᏫᏱᏰᏃ ᎯᎠ ᏂᎦᏪᎭ, ᎠᎩᎬᏫᏳᎯ ᎠᏉᎳ, ᎥᏝ ᎠᏉᏑᎶᏨᎯ ᏱᎩ, ᎥᏝ ᎠᎴ ᎤᏲ ᎠᏓᏅᏓᏗᏍᏗ ᎨᏒ ᏴᎦᏥᎪᏩᏛ.
for her self-glorification and her luxury, give her now an equal measure of torture and misery. In her heart she says ‘I sit here a queen; no widow am I; I shall never know misery.’
8 ᎾᏍᎩ ᎢᏳᏍᏗ ᎤᏕᏯᏙᏗᏍᎩ ᎨᏒ ᏏᏉᏃ ᎤᎷᎯᏍᏗ ᎨᏎᏍᏗ, ᎠᏲᎱᎯᏍᏗ ᎨᏒ, ᎠᎴ ᏗᏴᎳᏍᏗ ᎨᏒ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᎪᎸ; ᎠᎴ ᎠᎦᎪᎲᏍᏙᏗ ᎨᏎᏍᏗ ᎠᏥᎸ ᎬᏗ; ᎤᎵᏂᎩᏗᏳᏰᏃ ᎤᎬᏫᏳᎯ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ ᎾᏍᎩ ᏧᏭᎪᏓᏁᎯ ᏥᎩ.
Therefore in one day shall these Curses befall her — death, misery, and famine, and she shall be utterly consumed by fire; for mighty is the Lord God who condemned her.
9 ᎠᎴ ᎤᏂᎬᏫᏳᎯ ᎡᎶᎯ ᎠᏁᎯ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏕᎵᏛ ᏧᎾᏂᏏᏂᏙᎸᎯ ᎨᏒᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᏢᏉᏗ ᎢᏧᎳᎭ ᎤᎾᏕᏅᎯ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᏓᎬᏩᏍᎪᏂᎵ, ᎠᎴ ᎾᏍᎩ ᏅᏓᎦᎵᏍᏙᏔᏂ ᏙᏛᏂᏴᎳᏏ, ᎿᎭᏉ ᎠᏂᎪᎲᎭ ᏚᎦᏒᏍᏛ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎠᎪᎲᏍᎬᎢ,
All the kings of the earth who had licentious intercourse with her and shared her luxury will weep and lament over her, when they see the smoke from the burning city,
10 ᎢᏅ ᏗᏂᏙᎾᎡᏍᏗ ᎠᏂᏍᎦᎢᎲ ᎠᎩᎵᏲᎬ ᏅᏗᎦᎵᏍᏙᏗᏍᎬᎢ, ᎯᎠ ᎾᏂᏪᏍᎨᏍᏗ, ᎤᏲᏍᏛᏉ, ᎤᏲᏍᏛᏉ, ᎾᏍᎩ Ꮎ ᎡᏆ ᏓᏓᎶᏂ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᎵᏂᎩᏛ ᎦᏚᎲᎢ! ᏑᏟᎶᏛᏉᏰᏃ ᎢᎪᎯᏛ ᏗᏣᏚᎪᏓᏁᏗ ᎨᏒ ᏣᎷᏥᏏ.
while they stand at a distance, horrified at her torture, and cry — ‘Alas! Alas! Great City! O mighty City of Babylon! In a single hour your judgment fell.
11 ᎠᏂᏃᏔᏅᎲᏍᎩᏃ ᎡᎶᎯ ᎠᏁᎯ ᏙᏛᎾᏠᏱᎵ ᎠᎴ ᏙᏛᏂᏴᎳᏏ ᏓᎬᏩᏍᎪᏂᎵ ᎾᏍᎩ; ᎥᏝᏰᏃ ᎿᎭᏉ ᎩᎶ ᏱᎬᏩᏂᏩᎯᏎᎭ ᎦᏃᏙᏗ;
And the merchants of the earth weep and wail over her, because no longer does any one buy their cargoes —
12 ᎾᏍᎩ ᎠᏕᎸ-ᏓᎶᏂᎨ ᎦᏃᏙᏗ ᎨᏒᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᏕᎸ-ᎤᏁᎬ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᏣᏘ ᏧᎬᏩᎶᏗ ᏅᏯ, ᎠᎴ ᏓᎬᎾ-ᎢᏳᎾᏍᏗ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᏏᏙᎵ ᏙᎴᏛ, ᎠᎴ ᏗᏕᎭᎷᎨᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᏗᏩᎾᎨᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᏗᎩᎦᎨᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎾᎦᎥ ᏗᎦᎸᏉᏗ ᎠᏓ, ᎠᎴ ᏂᎦᎥ ᏗᏖᎵᏙ ᎧᎹᎹ ᏧᏓᏄᏙᏅᎯ ᏗᎪᏢᏔᏅᎯ, ᎠᎴ ᏂᎦᎥ ᏗᏖᎵᏙ ᎤᏣᏘ ᏧᎬᏩᎶᏗ ᎠᏓ ᏗᎪᏢᏔᏅᎯ, ᎠᎴ ᎥᏣᏱ, ᎠᎴ ᏔᎷᎩᏍᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᏂᏓᏫᏍᎦᎨ ᏅᏯ,
their cargoes of gold, or silver, or precious stones, or pearls, or fine linen, or purple robes, or silk, or scarlet cloth; nor their many scented woods; nor their many articles of ivory; nor their many articles of choicest wood, or brass, or iron, or marble;
13 ᎠᎴ ᏏᏂᎹᏂ, ᎠᎴ ᏗᎦᏩᏒᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᏠᏁᏗ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᏜᏓᎤᎦᎾᏍᏛ ᎦᏩᏒᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᎩᎦᎨ-ᎠᏗᏔᏍᏗ, ᎠᎴ ᎪᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᏩᎾᎨ ᎤᏣᎴᏍᏗ ᎢᏒ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᏣᎴᏍᏗᎤᎦᏛ, ᎠᎴ ᎦᎾᏝᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᏫ-ᎤᏂᏃᏕᏅ, ᎠᎴ ᏐᏈᎵ, ᎠᎴ ᏧᏍᏗ-ᏓᏆᎴᎷ, ᎠᎴ ᏴᏫ-ᏗᎦᎾᏝᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᏴᏫ ᏧᎾᏓᏅᏙ.
nor their cinnamon, or spice, or incense, or perfumes, or frankincense, or wine, or oil, or fine flour, or wheat, or cattle, or sheep; nor their horses, or chariots, or slaves; nor the bodies and souls of men.
14 ᎠᎴ ᎤᏓᏔᏅᎯ ᎾᏍᎩ ᏣᏓᏅᏙ ᏧᎬᎥᏍᎬᎩ ᏣᏓᏅᎡᎸ, ᎠᎴ ᏂᎦᎥ ᎤᏢᏉᏗ ᎠᎴ ᏗᎦᎸᏉᏗ ᏥᎨᏒ ᎨᏣᏓᏅᎡᎸ, ᎠᎴ ᎥᏝ ᎿᎭᏉ ᏫᏗᎨᏣᏩᏛᏗ ᏱᎨᏎᏍᏗ.
The fruit that your soul craved is no longer within your reach, and all dainties and luxuries are lost to you, never to be found again.’
15 ᎯᎠ ᎾᏍᎩ ᏧᏓᎴᏛ ᎠᏂᏃᏔᏅᎥᏍᎩ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᏧᏪᏅᎢᏍᏔᏅᎯ, ᎢᏅ ᏗᏂᏙᎾᎡᏍᏗ ᏅᏗᎦᎵᏍᏙᏗᏍᎨᏍᏗ ᎠᎩᎵᏲᎬ ᎠᏂᏍᎦᎢᎲᎢ, ᏓᎾᏠᏱᎮᏍᏗ ᎠᎴ ᏓᏂᏴᎨᏍᏗ,
The merchants who sold these things, and grew rich by her, will stand at a distance weeping and wailing, horrified at her torture, and crying —
16 ᎠᎴ ᎯᎠ ᎾᏂᏪᏍᎨᏍᏗ, ᎤᏲᏍᏛᏉ, ᎤᏲᏍᏛᏉ, ᎾᏍᎩ Ꮎ ᎡᏆ ᎦᏚᎲ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏏᏙᎵ ᏙᎴᏛ, ᎠᎴ ᏕᎭᎷᎨᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎩᎦᎨᎢ ᏥᏚᏣᏃᏛᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᏕᎸᏓᎶᏂᎨᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᏣᏘ ᏧᎾᎬᏩᎶᏗ ᏅᏯ, ᎠᎴ ᏓᎬᎾ-ᎢᏳᎾᏍᏗ, ᏥᏚᏣᏃᏛᎩ!
‘Alas! Alas! Great City! O City clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet cloth! O City adorned with gold ornaments, and precious stones, and pearls!
17 ᏑᏟᎶᏛᏉᏰᏃ ᎢᎪᎯᏛ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎢᎦᎢ ᏧᎬᏩᎶᏗ ᎠᏎᏉ ᏂᎦᎵᏍᏔᏂᏛ. ᎠᎴ ᎾᏂᎥ ᎤᏂᎬᏫᏳᏌᏕᎩ ᏥᏳ ᏧᏔᏅ ᏓᏂᏂᏙᎲᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎾᏂᎥ ᏥᏳᎯ ᎤᎾᏣᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᏥᏳ ᏗᏂᏂᏙᎯ, ᎠᎴ ᎾᏂᎥᏉ ᎠᎺᏉᎯ ᎠᏂᏃᏔᏂᏙᎯ, ᎢᏅ ᏛᏂᏙᎾᎥᎩ,
In a single hour your vast wealth vanished.’ Every ship’s captain and all who sail to any port, and sailors, and all who get their living from the sea, stood at a distance,
18 ᎠᎴ ᎤᏁᎷᏅᎩ ᎢᏳᏃ ᎤᏂᎪᎲ ᏚᎦᏒᏍᏛ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎠᎪᎲᏍᎬᎢ, ᎯᎠ ᎾᏂᏪᏍᎬᎩ, ᎦᏙ ᎤᏍᏗ ᎾᏍᎩᏯ ᎨᏎ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎯᎠ ᎡᏆ ᎦᏚᎲ ᏄᏍᏛᎢ?
and seeing the smoke from the burning city, cried — ‘What city can compare with the Great City?’
19 ᏗᏂᏍᎪᎵᏃ ᎪᏍᏚ ᏚᏂᏝᏅᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᏁᎷᏅᎩ ᏓᎾᏠᏱᎲᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᏓᏂᏴᎬᎢ, ᎯᎠ ᎾᏂᏪᏍᎬᎩ, ᎤᏲᏍᏛᏉ, ᎤᏲᏍᏛᏉ, ᎾᏍᎩ Ꮎ ᎡᏆ ᎦᏚᎲᎢ, ᎾᎿᎭᏧᏁᎿᎭᎢ ᏥᏄᎾᎵᏍᏔᏅᎩ ᏂᎦᏛ ᎠᎺᏉᎯ ᏥᏳ ᏗᏂᏂᏙᎯ, ᏅᏗᎦᎵᏍᏙᏗᏍᎬ ᎤᏣᏘ ᎤᏪᎿᎭᎢᏳ ᎨᏒᎢ, ᏑᏟᎶᏛᏉᏰᏃ ᎢᎪᎯᏛ ᏅᏔ ᎾᎬᏁᎸ.
They threw dust on their heads, and, as they wept and wailed, they cried — ‘Alas! Alas! Great City! All who have ships on the sea grew rich through her magnificence. In a single hour it has vanished.’
20 ᎢᏣᎵᎮᎵᎩ ᎾᏍᎩ ᏄᎵᏍᏓᏁᎸ ᎢᏳᏍᏗ, ᏂᎯ ᎦᎸᎶᎢ ᎠᎴ ᏂᎯ ᎢᏣᏓᏅᏘ ᎠᎴ ᎡᏥᏅᏏᏛ, ᎠᎴ ᎢᏣᏙᎴᎰᏍᎩ; ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯᏰᏃ ᏂᎯ ᎨᏒ ᎢᏳᏍᏗ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎠᎦᏞᏥ.
Rejoice over her, O Heaven, and People of Christ, and Apostles, and Prophets, for God has avenged you on her!
21 ᎤᎵᏂᎩᏛᏃ ᏗᎧᎿᎭᏩᏗᏙᎯ ᏅᏯ ᎤᎩᏒᎩ, ᎤᏔᏅ ᏗᏍᏙᏍᎩ ᏅᏯ ᎾᏍᎩᏯᎢ, ᎠᎺᏉᎯᏃ ᏭᏗᏅᏒᎩ, ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏒᎩ, ᎾᏍᎩᏯ ᎬᏍᎦᎢᏍᏓᎩ ᎾᏍᎩ Ꮎ ᎡᏆ ᎦᏚᎲ ᏓᏓᎶᏂ ᎠᏥᏲᏍᏙᏗ ᎨᏎᏍᏗ, ᎥᏝ ᎠᎴ ᎿᎭᏉ ᎬᏩᏛᏗ ᏱᎨᏎᏍᏗ.
Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and threw it into the sea, crying — ‘So shall Babylon, the Great City, be violently overthrown, never more to be seen.
22 ᎠᎴ ᏗᎧᏃᎩᏍᏙᏗ ᏗᏂᏃᎩᏍᏗᏍᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᏗᏂᏃᎩᏍᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᏦᏔᏍᏗ ᏗᏂᏃᎩᏍᏗᏍᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᏗᏂᏤᎷᎯᏍᎩ ᎤᎾᏓᏃᏴᎵᏍᏛ ᎥᏝ ᎿᎭᏉ ᎡᏣᏛᎦᏁᏗ ᏱᎨᏎᏍᏗ; ᎢᏝ ᎠᎴ ᎪᏢᏅᎥᏍᎩ ᏄᏓᎴᏒᏉ ᎪᎱᏍᏗ ᎪᏢᏍᎩ ᎿᎭᏉ ᏰᏣᏩᏛᎡᎴᏍᏗ; ᎠᎴ ᏅᏯ ᎠᏍᏙᏍᎩ ᎤᏃᏴᎬ ᎥᏝ ᎿᎭᏉ ᎡᏣᏛᎦᏁᏗ ᏱᎨᏎᏍᏗ;
No more shall the music of harpers, or minstrels, or flute players, or trumpeters be heard in you, no more shall any worker, skilled in any art, be found in you; no more shall the sound of a mill be heard in you;
23 ᎠᎴ ᎠᏨᏍᏙᏗ ᏚᎸᏌᏛ ᎥᏝ ᎿᎭᏉ ᏗᏣᎸᏌᏓᏕᏗ ᏱᎨᏎᏍᏗ; ᎠᎴ ᎠᏕᏒᎲᏍᎩ ᎠᎴ ᎠᏥᏰᎯ ᎠᏂᏁᎬ ᎥᏝ ᎿᎭᏉ ᎡᏣᏛᎦᏁᏗ ᏱᎨᏎᏍᏗ; ᏗᏣᏤᎵᏰᏃ ᎠᏂᏃᏗᏍᎩ ᎨᏥᎸᏉᏗ ᎨᏒᎩ ᏴᏫ ᎡᎶᎯ ᏓᏁᏩᏗᏒᎢ; ᏂᎦᏗᏳᏰᏃ ᎤᎾᏓᏤᎵᏛ ᎨᏒ ᏴᏫ ᏓᏁᏩᏗᏒ ᎠᏙᏅᏗ ᏕᏣᎸᏫᏍᏓᏁᎲ ᏕᎯᎶᏄᎮᏔᏅᎩ.
no more shall the light of a lamp shine in you; no more shall the voices of bridegroom and bride be heard in you. Your merchants were the great men of the earth, for all the nations were deceived by your magical charms.
24 ᎠᎴ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎠᏥᏩᏛᎡᎸᎩ ᎤᏂᎩᎬ ᎠᎾᏙᎴᎰᏍᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᎾᏓᏅᏘ, ᎠᎴ ᏂᎦᏛ ᎡᎶᎯ ᏗᎨᏥᎸᎯ ᎨᏒᎢ.
Yes, and in her was to be found the blood of the Prophets and of Christ’s People, and of all who have been put to death upon the earth.’
