1 Tapus niini si Jesus mitabok ngadto sa pikas nga daplin sa Lanaw sa Galilea, nga mao ang Lanaw sa Tiberiades.
After this, Jesus crossed the Sea of Galilee – otherwise called the Lake of Tiberias.
2 Ug miapas kaniya ang usa ka dakung panon sa katawhan, kay nakita man ugod nila ang mga milagro nga iyang nahimo ngadto sa mga masakiton.
A great crowd of people, however, followed him, because they saw the signs of his mission in his work among those who were sick.
3 Ug si Jesus mitungas sa kabungturan, ug didto milingkod siya uban sa iyang mga tinun-an.
Jesus went up the hill, and sat down there with his disciples.
4 Ug karon ang Pasko, ang fiesta sa mga Judio, nagsingabut na.
It was near the time of the Jewish Festival of the Passover.
5 Ug sa pagyahat niya sa iyang mga mata, ug sa pagkakita niya sa dakung panon sa katawhan nga nagpadulong kaniya, si Jesus miingon kang Felipe, "Asa man kita magpalit ug tinapay aron makakaon kini sila?"
Looking up, and noticing that a great crowd was coming towards him, Jesus said to Philip, ‘Where are we to buy bread for these people to eat?’
6 Kini iyang gipamulong sa pagsulay kaniya, kay siya gayud nahibalo man kon unsay iyang buhaton.
He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he meant to do.
7 Ug si Felipe mitubag kaniya, "Ang duha ka gatus ka denario dili pa igong ipalit ug tinapay aron ang matag-usa kanila makadawat ug diyutayng ikatimo."
‘Even if we spent a years’ wages on bread,’ answered Philip, ‘it would not be enough for each of them to have a little.’
8 Usa sa iyang mga tinun-an, si Andres nga igsoon ni Simon Pedro, miingon kang Jesus,
‘There is a boy here,’ said Andrew, another of his disciples, Simon Peter’s brother,
9 "Ania dinhiy usa ka batang lalaki nga may lima ka pan nga sebada ug duha ka isda, apan mag-unsa man kana alang niining hilabihan ka daghan?"
‘Who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what is that for so many?’
10 Ug si Jesus miingon, "Palingkora ang mga tawo." Ug didtoy daghang balili niadtong dapita, busa ang mga tawo nanglingkod nga may gidaghanon nga mga lima ka libo.
‘Make the people sit down,’ said Jesus. It was a grassy spot; so the people, who numbered about five thousand, sat down,
11 Ug unya gikuha ni Jesus ang mga tinapay, ug sa nakapasalamat na siya, iyang giapod-apod kini ngadto kanila nga nanaglingkod; maingon man usab ang isda, kutob sa ilang gusto.
and then Jesus took the loaves, and, after saying the thanksgiving, distributed them to those who were sitting down; and the same with the fish, giving the people as much as they wanted.
12 Ug sa nangabusog na sila, siya miingon sa iyang mga tinun-an, "Hipusa ninyo ang mga tipik nga nanghibilin aron walay mausik."
When they were satisfied, Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Collect the broken pieces that are left, so that nothing may be wasted.’
13 Busa ilang gihipos kini, ug napulog-duha ka bukag ang napuno nila sa mga tipik gikan sa lima ka tinapay nga sebada, nga nahibilin tapus sa pagpangaon sa mga tawo.
The disciples did so, and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves, which were left after all had eaten.
14 Ug sa pagkakita nila sa milagro nga iyang gibuhat, ang mga tawo nanag-ingon, "Sa pagkatinuod kini siya mao gayud ang profeta nga moanhi sa kalibutan!"
When the people saw the signs which Jesus gave, they said, ‘This is certainly the prophet who was to come into the world.’
15 Ug sa pagkamatikud ni Jesus nga sila moduol na sa pagsakmit kaniya aron sa paghimo kaniya nga hari, siya mipahilit pag-usab nga nag-inusara ngadto sa kabungturan.
But Jesus, having discovered that they were intending to come and carry him off to make him king, went again up the hill, quite alone.
16 Ug sa pagkasawomsom na, ang iyang mga tinun-an nanglugsong ngadto sa lanaw,
When evening fell, his disciples went down to the sea,
17 ug misakayg sakayan, ug mitabok sa lanaw ngadto sa Capernaum. Mangitngit na ug si Jesus wala pa mahiabut kanila.
and, getting into a boat, began to cross to Capernaum. By this time darkness had set in, and Jesus had not yet come back to them;
18 Ug ang lanaw misugod na sa pagbalud tungod sa makusog nga hangin nga naghuros.
the sea, too, was getting rough, for a strong wind was blowing.
19 Ug sa nakagaud na silag mga lima o unom ka kilometro, nakita nila si Jesus nga naglakaw ibabaw sa tubig ug nagkahiduol sa sakayan. Ug sila nangalisang,
When they had rowed three or four miles, they caught sight of him walking on the water and approaching the boat, and they were frightened.
20 apan siya miingon kanila, "Ako kini; ayaw kamo kalisang."
But Jesus said to them, ‘It is I; do not be afraid!’
21 Ug gikalipay nila ang pagdawat kaniya ngadto sa sakayan, ug dihadiha ang sakayan nahidunggo sa yuta nga ilang gipadulngan.
And after this they were glad to take him into the boat; and the boat at once arrived off the shore, for which they had been making.
22 Ug sa pagkasunod nga adlaw ang panon sa katawhan nga nagpabilin sa pikas nga daplin sa lanaw nakamatngon nga usa ra man kabuok ang sakayan nga nahiadto didto, ug nga si Jesus wala man makasakay sa sakayan uban sa iyang mga tinun-an, hinonoa nga ang iyang mga tinun-an nanggikan nga silasila ra.
The people who remained on the other side of the sea had seen that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not gone into it with his disciples, but that they had left without him.
23 Apan didtoy mga bote gikan sa Tiberiades nga nahidunggo duol niadtong dapit diin nanagpangaon gani silag tinapay tapus makapasalamat ang Ginoo.
Some boats, however, had come from Tiberias, from near the spot where they had eaten the bread after the Master had said the thanksgiving.
24 Ug sa pagkakita sa panon sa katawhan nga wala didto si Jesus, ni ang iyang mga tinun-an, sila misakay sa mga bote ug miadto sa Capernaum aron sa pagpangita kang Jesus.
So, on the next day, when the people saw that Jesus was not there, or his disciples either, they themselves got into the boats, and went to Capernaum to look for him.
25 Ug sa nakita na nila siya didto sa pikas nga daplin sa lanaw, sila miingon kaniya, "Rabi, kanus-a ka pa man mahiabut dinhi?"
And, when they found him on the other side of the sea, they said, ‘When did you get here, Rabbi?’
26 Ug si Jesus mitubag kanila, "Sa pagkatinuod, sa pagkatinuod, magaingon ako kaninyo, nga kamo nangita kanako dili tungod kay nakakita kamo sa mga milagro, kondili tungod kay kamo nakakaon man ug nangabusog sa tinapay.
‘In truth I tell you,’ answered Jesus, ‘it is not because of the signs which you saw that you are looking for me, but because you had the bread to eat and were satisfied.
27 Ayaw ninyo paghagoi ang kalan-on nga mawagtang ra, kondili mao hinooy hagoi ninyo kanang kalan-on nga molungtad ngadto sa kinabuhing dayon nga igahatag kaninyo sa Anak sa Tawo; kay sa Dios nga Amahan gikapadayag siya nga tinuod." (aiōnios g166)
Work, not for the food that perishes, but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you; for on him the Father – God himself – has set the seal of his approval.’ (aiōnios g166)
28 Ug sila miingon kaniya, "Unsa may kinahanglan among buhaton aron sa pagbuhat sa ipabuhat sa Dios?"
‘How,’ they asked, ‘are we to do the work that God wants us to do?’
29 Si Jesus mitubag kanila, "Ang ipabuhat sa Dios mao kini, nga kinahanglan mosalig kamo kaniya nga iyang gipadala."
‘The work that God wants you to do,’ answered Jesus, ‘is to believe in him whom God sent as his messenger.’
30 Ug sila miingon kaniya, "Nan, unsa man ang imong nabuhat nga milagro, aron makita namo kini ug motoo kami kanimo? Unsa man ang imong ginabuhat?
‘What sign, then,’ they asked, ‘are you giving, which we may see, and so believe you? What is the work that you are doing?
31 Ang among mga ginikanan nanagpangaon sa mana didto sa kamingawan, sumala sa nahisulat, `Kanila gihatag niya ang tinapay gikan sa langit aron ilang pagakan-on.'"
Our ancestors had the manna to eat in the desert; as scripture says – “He gave them bread from heaven to eat.”’
32 Ug si Jesus miingon kanila, "Sa pagkatinuod, sa pagkatinuod, magaingon ako kaninyo, nga si Moises dili mao ang naghatag kaninyo niadtong tinapay nga gikan sa langit; ang akong Amahan mao ang nagahatag kaninyo sa tinuod nga tinapay nga gikan sa langit.
‘In truth I tell you,’ replied Jesus, ‘Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but my Father does give you the true bread from heaven;
33 Kay ang tinapay sa Dios mao kadtong nanaug gikan sa langit, ug nagahatag ug kinabuhi ngadto sa kalibutan."
for the bread that God gives is that which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world.’
34 Ug sila miingon kaniya, "Ginoo, hatagi kami kanunay nianang tinapaya."
‘Master,’ they exclaimed, ‘give us that bread always!’
35 Ug si Jesus mitubag kanila, "Ako mao ang tinapay nga nagahatag ug kinabuhi; siya nga moari kanako dili gutomon, ug siya nga mosalig kanako dili gayud uhawon.
‘I am the life-giving bread,’ Jesus said to them, ‘whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never thirst again.
36 Apan giingon ko na kaninyo nga kamo nakakita na kanako, apan wala kamo mosalig.
But, as I have said already, you have seen me, and yet you do not believe in me.
37 Ang tanan nga gihatag kanako sa Amahan moari gayud kanako, ug siya nga moari kanako dili ko gayud igasalikway.
All those whom the Father gives me will come to me; and no one who comes to me will I ever turn away.
38 Kay ako nanaug gikan sa langit, dili sa pagbuhat sa akong kaugalingong kabubut-on, kondili sa kabubut-on sa nagpadala kanako.
For I have come down from heaven, to do, not my own will, but the will of him who sent me;
39 Ug ang kabubut-on sa nagpadala kanako mao kini, nga dili ako kawad-an bisag usa sa tanan nga iyang gikahatag kanako, hinonoa nga mabanhaw kini sa kaulahian nga adlaw.
and his will is this – that I should not lose one of all those whom he has given me, but should raise them up at the Last day.
40 Kay ang kabubut-on sa akong Amahan mao kini, nga ang matag-usa nga makakita sa Anak ug mosalig kaniya makabaton sa kinabuhing dayon, ug pagabanhawon ko siya sa kaulahian nga adlaw." (aiōnios g166)
For it is the will of my Father that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have immortal life; and I myself will raise him up at the Last day.’ (aiōnios g166)
41 Ug siya gibagotbutan sa mga Judio tungod sa iyang pag-ingon, "Ako mao ang tinapay nga nanaug gikan sa langit."
The people began murmuring against Jesus for saying – “I am the bread which came down from heaven.”
42 Ug sila miingon, "Dili ba kini siya mao man si Jesus, ang kang Jose nga anak, kinsang amahan ug inahan atong nahibaloan? Naunsa ba nga nagaingon na man siya karon, `Ako nanaug gikan sa langit'?"
‘Is not this Jesus, Joseph’s son,’ they asked, ‘whose father and mother we know? How is it that he now says that he has come down from heaven?’
43 Ug si Jesus mitubag kanila, "Ayaw na kamo pagbagutbot ngadto sa usag usa.
‘Do not murmur among yourselves,’ said Jesus in reply.
44 Walay makahimo sa pag-ari kanako gawas lamang kon siya pagadanihon sa Amahan nga mao ang nagpadala kanako; ug pagabanhawon ko siya sa kaulahian nga adlaw.
‘No one can come to me, unless the Father who sent me draws him to me; and I will raise him up at the Last day.
45 Diha sa mga profeta nahisulat kini nga nagaingon, `Ug sa Dios pagatudloan silang tanan.' Ang tanan nga nakadungog ug nakakat-on gikan sa Amahan magaari kanako.
It is said in the prophets – “And they will all be taught by God.” Everyone who is taught by the Father and learns from him comes to me.
46 Dili sabton nga adunay nakakita sa Amahan gawas kaniya nga gikan sa Dios; kini siya nakakita sa Amahan.
Not that anyone has seen the Father, except him who is from God – he has seen the Father.
47 Sa pagkatinuod, sa pagkatinuod, magaingon ako kaninyo, nga ang mosalig may kinabuhing dayon. (aiōnios g166)
In truth I tell you, the person who believes in me has eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
48 Ako mao ang tinapay nga nagahatag ug kinabuhi.
I am the life-giving bread.
49 Ang inyong mga ginikanan nanagkaon sa mana didto sa kamingawan, ngani nangamatay sila.
Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, and yet died.
50 Ania kining tinapay nga nanaug gikan sa langit, aron ang tawo makakaon niini ug dili mamatay.
The bread that comes down from heaven is such that whoever eats of it will never die.
51 Ako mao ang buhing tinapay nga nanaug gikan sa langit; bisan kinsa nga mokaon niining maong tinapay, siya mabuhi sa dayon; ug ang tinapay nga akong igahatag alang sa kinabuhi sa kalibutan mao ang akong unod." (aiōn g165)
I am the living bread that has come down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, they will live for ever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.’ (aiōn g165)
52 Ug ang mga Judio naglalisay tali sa ilang kaugalingon, nga nanag-ingon "Unsaon man niining tawhana sa paghatag kanato sa iyang unod aron atong kan-on?"
They began disputing with one another, ‘How is it possible for this man to give us his flesh to eat?’
53 Busa si Jesus miingon kanila, "Sa pagkatinuod, sa pagkatinuod, magaingon ako kaninyo, gawas kon mokaon kamo sa unod sa Anak sa Tawo ug moinom sa iyang dugo, wala kamoy kinabuhi diha kaninyo.
‘In truth I tell you,’ answered Jesus, ‘unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink his blood, you have not life within you.
54 Siya nga mokaon sa akong unod ug moinom sa akong dugo may kinabuhi nga dayon, ug pagabanhawon ko siya sa kaulahian nga adlaw. (aiōnios g166)
Everyone who takes my flesh for their food, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise them up at the Last day. (aiōnios g166)
55 Kay ang akong unod tinuod nga kalan-on ug ang akong dugo tinuod nga ilimnon.
For my flesh is true food, and my blood true drink.
56 Siya nga mokaon sa akong unod ug moinom sa akong dugo magapuyo sa sulod nako, ug ako sa sulod niya.
Everyone who takes my flesh for their food, and drinks my blood, remains united to me, and I to them.
57 Maingon nga ang buhing Amahan nagpadala kanako, ug ako nabuhi tungod sa Amahan, maingon man usab niana, siya nga mokaon kanako mabuhi tungod kanako.
As the living Father sent me as his messenger, and as I live because the Father lives, so the person who takes me for their food will live because I live.
58 Mao kini ang tinapay nga nanaug gikan sa langit, dili ingon niadtong gikaon sa inyong mga ginikanan, nga bisan pa niini nangamatay sila. Siya nga mokaon niining maong tinapay mabuhi sa dayon." (aiōn g165)
That is the bread which has come down from heaven – not such as your ancestors ate, and yet died; the person who takes this bread for their food will live for ever.’ (aiōn g165)
59 Kini iyang gisulti sulod sa sinagoga, sa pagpanudlo niya didto sa Capernaum.
All this Jesus said in a synagogue, when he was teaching in Capernaum.
60 Daghan sa iyang mga tinun-an, sa ilang pagkadungog niini, nanag-ingon, "Lisud kining sultiha; kinsa may makapatalinghug niini?"
On hearing it, many of his disciples said, ‘This is harsh doctrine! Who can bear to listen to it?’
61 Apan sa pagkahibalo ni Jesus sulod sa iyang kaugalingon nga ang iyang mga tinun-an nanagbagutbot mahitungod niini, siya miingon kanila, "Nakapaluya ba kini kaninyo?
But Jesus, aware that his disciples were murmuring about it, said to them,
62 Nan, maunsa man kaha diay kon inyo nang makita ang Anak sa Tawo nga magasaka ngadto sa dapit diin didto siya kaniadto?
‘Is this a hindrance to you? What, then, if you should see the Son of Man ascending where he was before?
63 Ang nagahatag ug kinabuhi mao ang espiritu; ang unod walay kapuslanan. Ang mga pulong nga akong gisulti kaninyo-kini espiritu ug kinabuhi.
It is the Spirit that gives life; human strength achieves nothing. In the teaching that I have been giving you there is Spirit and there is life.
64 Apan aduna kaninyoy wala managpanoo." Kay si Jesus nasayud man sukad sa sinugdan kinsa kadto sila nga wala mosalig, ug kinsa kadto siya nga maoy magbudhi kaniya.
Yet there are some of you who do not believe in me.’ For Jesus knew from the first who they were that did not believe in him, and who it was that would betray him;
65 Ug siya miingon, "Mao man gani nga giingnan ko kamo nga walay bisan kinsa nga makaari kanako gawas kon itugot kini kaniya sa Amahan."
and he added, ‘This is why I told you that no one can come to me, unless enabled by the Father.’
66 Tapus niini daghan sa iyang mga tinun-an mitalikod ug wala na managpanglakaw uban kaniya.
After this many of his disciples drew back, and did not go about with him any longer.
67 Ug si Jesus nangutana sa Napulog-Duha, "Buot ba usab kamong mobiya kanako?"
So Jesus said to the Twelve, ‘Do you also wish to leave me?’
68 Si Simon Pedro mitubag kaniya, "Ginoo, kang kinsa man kami moadto? Ikaw mao ang may mga pulong mahitungod sa kinabuhing dayon. (aiōnios g166)
But Simon Peter answered, ‘Master, to whom would we go? Eternal life is in your teaching; (aiōnios g166)
69 Ug kami nagatoo, ug among nasinati, nga ikaw mao ang Balaan sa Dios."
and we have learned to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.’
70 Si Jesus mitubag kanila, "Dili ba gipili ko man kamo, ang Napulog-Duha? Ngani ang usa kaninyo yawa."
‘Didn’t I myself choose you to be the Twelve?’ replied Jesus, ‘and yet, even of you, one is playing the devil’s part.’
71 Nagpasabut siya niini mahitungod sa kang Simon Iscariote nga anak nga si Judas; kay kini siya, usa sa Napulog-Duha, mao man ang magbudhi kaniya.
He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who was about to betray him, though he was one of the Twelve.
